Hi Katelyn! That's wonderful.... I don't write love poems too often, I'm kind of off and on with them, I am not an expert at all since I don't write them all the time, I prefer other categories :D

Here's my advice if it helps!
Firstly, be yourself. I agree love poetry can be cliche but that is a matter of opinion and make sure to be yourself. If you are one to write a lot of metaphors/similes or just one to write simply, write for yourself and no one else.

Loosen up. Listen to relaxing music. Write when you're in the moment, or after being with him. Don't force anything. You can also write about the feeling of being speechless.... don't feel like you have to describe every little thing to make it constitute as a poem. A poem can be any thought. Your feelings are real and sincere, let them speak for themselves.

For specific examples or just prompting yourself to start...
    I would suggest:
    - noting qualities about him
    - moments you've spent together, places you've seen
    - your view on love, his view on love
    - about dreams you have together

    Take care & good luck!
