"Perhaps the reason we so often experience happiness only in hindsight, and that chasing it is such a fool's errand, is that happiness isn't a goal in itself but is only an aftereffect. It's the consequence of having lived in the way that we're supposed to -- by which I don't mean ethically correctly so much as just consciously, fully engaged in the business of living. In this respect it resembles averted vision, a phenomena familiar to backyard astronomers whereby, in order to pick out a very faint star, you have to let your gaze drift casually to the space just next to it; if you look directly at it, it vanishes. And it's also true, come to think of it, that the only stars we ever see are not the "real" stars, those cataclysms taking place in the present, but always only the light of the untouchable past."
    - Averted Vision, Tim Kreider

We still wander, at the turn of the first alley.

Muhammad Ali has some great quotes

'The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.'

'Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.'

'Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams - they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do - they all contain truths.'

'It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe.'

'Age is whatever you think it is. You are as old as you think you are.'

'It's not bragging if you can back it up.'

'Friendship... is not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything.'

'I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark.'

'If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize.'

'Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams - they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do - they all contain truths.'

'I know where I'm going and I know the truth, and I don't have to be what you want me to be. I'm free to be what I want.'

Im truly glad that you enjoyed my quote RM! You have a unique passion for Sufism. How do I know about Attar? Lets just say I had a moment in my struggling life when I felt true love and it turned me into a moth.
Ever since I am seeking the teaching of Attar, Rumi,Hafez.. to be consumed by the candle light. Anyway, enough about me lol! But before I go, I have to say one more thing! I believe with all my heart that those three poets I just mentioned above should be thought in every corner of the word! The truth they represent would help us to understand and feel true love and ultimately would forces us to become a geometrical echo of goodness... And for my closing argument let me exhale this little quote:

"The children of Adam are part of a whole,
In creation being of one essence and soul.
If misfortune afflicts a member with pain,
    Other members upset will remain.
If you feel free of fellow human's pain,
The designation of Adam you cannot claim!"

It is not important if you are right or wrong, if you are boss or not, if you are rich or poor.
It is not important if you are unknown or famous, if you belong or are a vagabond.
It is only important if you have true friends!

But it is not important even if you do have true fiends,
    if you ARE,

Those are some truly beautiful and thought provoking quotes
    Larry and RM!

I was kind of hoping that someone will post my next quote before me but looks like I have to do it! :)

This is probably the most beautiful and meaningful verse by Rumi:

In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty how to make poems.

    You dance inside my chest,
    where no one sees you,

    but sometimes I do,
and that light becomes this art.
