is their anyone wrong with a 14 and 19 year old dating?

I dont think that generally its a good idea, and if the best reason that she has is because he is "cute," that shows her maturity level is not developed enough to deal with a 19 year old.

Oh, he is 14, she is 19. I didnt read that right.

Thats more alright, in my opinion. It may be a double standard, but I'm a girl and I can admit to its existance.

statutory rape, paedophilia, sex offenders list...

    a few disadvantages to consider.

    The door swings both ways.

That sounds like a bad idea to me. What in the world would they have a common anyways? Not to mention the whole jail thing- ever heard the phrase 10 will get you 20?

Even if they are both consenting it is still considered statutory rape....she needs to know that.

This post said nothing about SEX.

I am dating a guy who is older and we have not had sex because of the laws...

If they were resonsible they would recognize that and not do anything illegal.

I also think you should start paying attention to accumulative opinions, because other people said practically the same thing as I did, and stop singling out me,

for the sake of singling out me.

Your inability to comprehend correctly anything I say makes me want to vomit

    "cheers"

    It's been said before.

And it IS a double standard, one that holds merit.

What world do you live in???

A double standard between girls and boys...

First of all, when was the last time that a girl raped a boy??? Thats the difference between a 19 year old girl dating a 14 year old boy and a 19 year old boy dating a 14 year old girl.

Sure, people can look at it as molestation, but boys have far less emotional issues about sex when they lose their virginity pre maturely than a girl does. Boys (at that age) are also the main initiators of sex.

The double standard holds merit because of the ages, the hormones, and the simple fact that boys are less affected by early sexual relations than girls are at that very delicate age. A girl would be far less likely to preassure a boy into sex than a boy would be to a girl.

If you deny that, you really worry me.

It's ok babygurl, All Done seems to be taking personal issue with me more than anything else, which is surprising, considering she doesnt know me.

Actually very few people seem to take issue with the things I say besides you, and normally it is worked out as misunderstanding. Do I make comments in my retorts to you that I know you will bite at? Maybe, I like to play a bit, but really you are just easy to set off and incredibly predictable. Honestly it’s not that I don’t believe in equality, its that certain things are not in the nature of how the world works. I believe in individuality, not equality per say, meaning that people are not equal based upon who THEY are, not what gender, not what skin color, etc. but based upon wisdom, talent, and intelligence. Then there are the chemical differences that make girls and boys react differently, which obviously don’t make us have equal responses. Different things make us tick, its not being discriminatory because people point out those differences. It’s in girls natures to be understanding and nurturing and its in boys natures to defend, conquer, and protect. That’s an estrogen and testosterone difference, so why would we be totally equal when both of those chemicals make us have different responses?

People are different, not equal. That’s not to say people don’t deserve equal rights.

In this case, boys rape girls. Girls do not rape boys. What's the discrepancy here? This is ridiculous. That’s general FACT, and double standards and generalizations exist for the mere purpose that they are GENERALLY true. Otherwise they wouldn’t exist at all; no one made them up for fun because they held no purpose.

I, personally, don't think you're being mean. I think you're being ignorant, but I also think you're not meaning to, so I dont hold people too accountable for what they cannot control.

    lol, touche

But honestly, its not like you dont do it, and its not like it isnt a valuable part of life (sexuality in general),

    so not really.

Plus, dont read a post entitled, "masterbation," if you dont want to read about it, because you're bound to find some advice about the subject there, then again, maybe that's what you need/ want.

    Sleep well~ :)

I'm kind of in the same situation as to where this forum started! My friend's 15 and she's kind of with a 20 year old. The problem is...he's a policeman! I don't really see anything wrong with them being together because at the end of the day, age is nothing but a number! Does kind of weird me out though...I'm 16 and I don't think I could go with anyone older than 18!

  • Bret Higgins

I am most disturbed by that, Sarah-Louise. Not only because of the age difference but because it is guty to protect kids like you and your friend from the exact same thing he is doing. It is beyond wrong.

  • Sarah-Louise

No but the thing is, he's not the sort of guy to pressure her into anything. They've been really good friends for such a long time...and at the end of the day...if two people love eachother then I don't see how anyone could keep them apart!

  • Kaitlin Kristina

Hmm. I dont know how I feel about that. I am leaning towords it not being the best choice.

Not that I'm not being slightly hypocritical.

It's wrong once u become an adult the age difference doesn't matter but right now in the eyes of the law ur still a child! I think it is wrong and once ur older u will see things in a different light.
