...when the praised comments button was first introduced?

Hmm.. I searched it on here and found this thread written by the mods and it seems this is when it was being introduced...going through some changes as only senior members could praise. That was April 2007. However, a mod might best answer this? I've been here since 2007 and am pretty sure it's been around those six years, maybe more, don't know.

Yes...I had a look through the search forums before I posted but the statements here are very vague I feel. I also found one that said...only senior members can praise comments and I don't think that's the case anymore?

The reason I'm asking is...I was looking at some of the old but favourites that come up on the front page...you know the ones with heaps of comments....mostly with one or two lines...? and I found one in particular that had praised comments on it (from 2007) and all of them were either praised by one mod in particular or praised by the P&q mod account...and also approved in the same way...just thought it was a bit strange. Can't figure out why, because they would have nothing to gain in the present system but maybe...because it was a new idea at the time they got the wrong end of the stick and thought they would get the "award'that seemed to be dangling like a carrot back then?

I think that was before we had any guidelines in place. It was newish and we all just accepted anything. Then pnqers came up with guidines on this board and requirements changed :)

Makes sense. It was all before I began hanging out in the Forum.

Before the latest guidelines I regularly approved comments I praised. No harm intended, just did not like them sitting there for days.

I did the samething that Larry has aforementioned. I used to praise and accept comments all the time back when it was first implemented, just doing what had to be done and not letting them sit there for days on end. In any event, I'm sure the way it is done now (along with the current guidelines) it is done differently and somewhat better in terms of how thry (the mods) go about praising comments.
