I'm up for more also..if we're warring, bring it on! ;)

MA-I dare you, I'll overload you with challenges hahaha

Some really beautiful pieces coming out of this! I feel a little bad for the weekly contest judges having to choose between all of these really lovely poems this/next week!

  • Poet on the Piano

Okay, it's on! Same to you... I hope there's no limit then :]

Yes, I was thinking that last night when I already saw two nominated from these prompts... it will be hard to decide next week when more poems will have been written! I'll have to compare some because I'll use all my chances to nominate probably... but they are all so good.

I'm really excited to see all this participation. Awesome job Saffie!

  • Larry Chamberlin

Agreed. I've written more poems in the past few days than in the several months prior.

  • Baby Rainbow

I think its great to see you all taking part. Maybe when we are giving our prompts it helps our brain link up ideas form one to the next, in order to go with a story for a poem? So rather than pondering on what to write next, our brain has to think of how to connect the next prompt?

What do we think about turning this into a comp? Maybe weekly? We could do it lots of ways. People could PM me their own numbers, I would give everyone their prompts on a Monday and would have until Friday to pm me with your poem. Then I could post them for voting Friday, and have weekend voting, announcing winner on Sunday?

Or I could just make a post on Monday with a set amount of prompts, and you could all pick one and go through the same process?

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

  • Poet on the Piano

Haha, yes you did Britt! But for that you're not heartless... I was just taken by surprise quite frankly. When I got the pm, I sat there like what in the world? Thanks though, I had fun writing once I had an idea it just started flowing.... I should have known it was you, right?!

Appreciate this too Saffie and it's refreshing as well as exciting to see who will post new or what prompts I haven't seen, etc. Thank you tons for all of this. Tons of participation in only a few days. I love how you put it too and I think that's true. It challenges us not to just write down imagery or put the words/phrases together, but connect them, maybe into a story, maybe into a character we create or can relate to.

Oh nice... getting my game face on lol! I'm up for either ideas... I kind of think the second one would be a bit more interesting since it would be done differently then privately getting a prompt and waiting to see the poems... I like the idea of set prompts and could it be public on here which ones we choose? And maybe, however limited you make it, some of us would end up having the same prompts but it could be more of a competition when we have to think out of the box, see who can connect this topic the best or most creatively. And then would everyone who participated vote for their favorite one? (excluding the one they wrote of course)

  • Britt

I think it would be fun if we had something every Monday with themes. Maybe a nature theme for one week, and then an extra prompt/challenge would be to include a technique/device/form etc..

    Just a thought?

  • Larry Chamberlin

I think it would be better to have random prompts sent than to choose our own. The resulting poems are much more interesting and creative.

I like the idea of signing up each Monday & having you send prompts chosen randomly (maybe draw cards).

Then we could post them to the thread on Wed or Thur for voting on Friday.

  • Jenni Marie

I'd like more too please :)

  • Baby Rainbow

The way I would like to do it (if everyone agrees) is as follows:

Monday I will post prompts on this board like so:

    1. a,b,c,d,e,f
    2. g,d,y,s,h,r,
    3. p.k.e
    4. l,f,m,x,s

so the same kind of thing you have all been pm'd with this last week. Only you get to decide which of the sets you will pick, and the chances are someone else will have picked it too.

You would all have poems into me by Thursday night so on Friday morning I would create a new thread, post all the poems( anonymously) for voting. Then you could either pm the votes to me, or just reply to the thread( up to you lot )

Then on Sunday I would announce the winner, since Sundays are boring on here!

I think this leaves it very open for all members and no rules as such - just using the prompts.

We can start it this week, I could make a thread just now and have a trial run week to see any flaws we might come across then start it properly next Monday? xx

  • Britt

    That sounds fun!! :)

  • Baby Rainbow

Shall I just go ahead and post it then? Would mean we would lose the Monday this week, but it would only be to see how the challenge would run anyway.

    Sounds great!

  • Lemon

Larry, sorry for the 7 prompts! Lol xD. You seemed to be finding the challenges quite easy so I thought I'd make it a bit harder xD. You did a great job with the poem though :)

BR- Love the challenge idea! :)
