Today, She gave the last smile.

The shadow inside my shadow is half past dead.
She used to followed him just as my shadow followed me.
until one evening while the sun was setting down,
she locked herself up with him.

They became one in the same or so she thought...

But the following day, the absence of the mind
got to him when he followed after

    me.

    Auto Texting (etheree)

    Beat
    locked up
    half past dead
    still remember
    watching the last smile
    disappear from her face
all for absence of the mind
sudden impact - never saw it
and for my moment of distraction
she is the shadow inside my shadow.

    Elderly

What will your last smile stir inside
of me? An absence of mind perhaps,
where asylums try to guard me
but I have yet to hear an end
    to the violin's cry;
    Mendelssohn reverberates back
to me, sore throat, bile rising,
    dull eyed...
I am nothing like your favorite
    concerto.

The repertoire of you is locked up,
    somewhere where knuckles bleed
and as I grace my fingers across
    the caved in walls,
    I realize, you are burdensomely
    close.

My soul was not composed in the
right key, for you needed E minor
but somehow I have turned flat,
    unable to be your enrichment.

    I am a lonely wanderer,
crossing bridges at half past dead,
    feebly following the shadow inside
    my shadow...

and there is no reflection to examine.

    I'm looking

    I'm looking for a dream
    not for visions of terror
    I'm looking for a hope
    not for disbelief
    I'm looking for a reason
to exist and not to exist
    I'm looking
and I look within a sea

    where the sea sees more
    than I've ever seen
    like the clashing hearts
    of castaways
    who has been rescued
    by the black dolphin
    in their dreams

    and I look and look
    within a sea
    while my despair
    vanishes
    as the castaways
    reach the shore.

    His Spirit Guides Them Through

    Brother,

    White mist masquerades our roads,
    but fear not,
for I am here to guide you through.

    Sister,

    Keep your eyes wide open
let not the night defeat you into slumber
I know weak defenses are your fort
    but fear not,
for I am here to illuminate and
    strengthen your senses.

    Brothers,

Some one's got to hold the wheel
unless you want to end up like me
    but fear not,
    for I am here,
I'm here to guide you through.

    Breathless Soul

Her soul was locked in her
    shadow of her shadow,
while evil laughs clash into her ears
and her smile fades into the
    darkness of the yesterdays..

As if it was driven by a drunk soul,
her cold mind drifts into the
    woods of her past,
    circulating around her
    breathless heart....

    Madness in the Attic

    The box in the corner
has been locked up for ages
and I never knew the dusty clock
    remained on half-past dead
until you pointed out your shame.

    There are tiger lilies dancing
in my head, proof that there is
    an absence of the mind.

    You said you've always seen
    the shadow inside my shadow,
and I never knew what that meant,
but you made sure you got the last word,
    little did you know
I only wanted the last smile.

    Entrapped

I was the only link to the braids that tied together life,
for I wove the strings of my own soul a thousand times.
The last breath was entrapped in a time frame that even I couldn't displace,
(the hands of the clock always span too fast for me
to determine the exact hours in which I faltered)
but I heard the call out shouts early the next morning,
as I scrubbed my wrists of shame.

You can check the dream catcher for visions of terror
but I always found the night to be unwelcoming.
The first token was misunderstood, it had seen freedom
clip it's once feather light wings but it became a black dolphin
around a gold chain, sought out to protect the shadows,
(the darkness always caught me spying on yesterday)
for I knew I wasn't always satisfied with seeing the pain,
I had to feel it beneath the surface wall.

    But when I vanished completely,
my heart began to outline the
    difference between living and breathing,
to find where I had left my spirit.

    It's just another masquerade;

she's perfected them all too well over time, lies spill easily
from made up lips, and the concealer she brushes over her face every morning like clockwork succeeds in hiding every crack in her armour.

She can't remember the last time her eyes were wide open, when she didn't have to painstakingly apply makeup to hide the blue and purple bruises scattered across her form, yearning always to go back to a time where every step she took didn't have her body screaming out in protestation.

and it's only at night, when she's safely hidden behind the bathroom door, that she stands alone and broken in front of the bathroom mirror, stripped of
her masquerade; with misty eyes illuminating her weak defences.

    The last smile

Staring too hard at my reflection in a simple puddle
    I tumble
falling to the bottom of nothingness
    catching myself at the bottom.

Perhaps it was the absence of the mind
    that caused the fall
    leaving me locked up
inside a hole in my dreams.

Thinking fast, I grab my chest
pulling out the shadow inside my shadow
the bearer of all those dark thoughts
    the causer of every fall.

I begin to float fast, passing many clocks
all bearing the time 'half past dead'
yet I shout as I swim, that 'it is not my time yet'
knowing deep down that I will have the last smile.
