Most Knowledgeable PnQ'er Competition!

I thought it might be fun to start a different kind of contest. Don't worry, it's poetry related.

The idea is that two people will square off against each other to debate a topic provided. One will argue for, one will argue against. Each will have a maximum of five posts to make their point as best as possible to win over me and the other readers. Judging will be done by a combination of public vote and by me. Matches will be drawn at random.

Let me give you an example. Say the question/topic is as follows:

'Shakespearean poetry has little relevance in today's world. Discuss'

Person A may say 'Yes it does have relevance because ....' and then person B will come in and say 'I disagree because xyz....' So it's basically like a debate, about poetry and related topics. Questions will be varied and you won't have to be a poetic expert to take part. I'll post more info once I get an idea of numbers.

If I got 16 members, we could have 8 first rounds, winners go on to Q-Finals, then semis and then the grand final. So that'll be the target number. If there are more I'll try to accommadate in some way. Hopefully it'll be a bit of fun and we might learn a thing or two along the way.

I am mean I am not so knowledgeable but I can surely do research... Is that allow?

I was thinking before 24hrs after the opponents last post, yes research is allowed.

Looks like this will have to be shelved as there were only a handful of members who signed up. Pity, because I was looking forward to seeing how it would pan out but maybe at a later date there might be more interest/activity.

The recent activity a few days ago gave me hope that the infamous "members message forum" was waking up from a coma

Colm, I reckon you could start this with just 2 members in a VS battle. Could get the ball rolling for future tournaments.
