Whoa guys! I'm sorry I didn't even realize today was Tuesday! I thought I was just late on a Monday, looks like Labor Day mixed my days up! My apologies!

This week we had 2 judges absent on Holiday...only 3 judges scores/comments are present :)

    Cyanide (10)
    by Adonis

To be honest I don't know how I received and reposted this poem on my FB before I connected it with PQ ,but I would like to see it go viral even though I may have known Adonis by another pen name and somehow lost track

    A Scene
    by Noura

The flat, weary tone in this piece makes it all the more heartbreaking. The details are precise and the picture is gray and lifeless. It holds the past, present and future in its fists, clenching tight to a poetry that still manages to shine in all its ironic purity. (10)

    A Scene (7)
    by Noura

I found no flaw in the delivery of the poem of a tragic contemporary nature and would have given it a ten if I was allowed to give two tens . I am touched deeply by this poem to say theleast

    Words (Lai)
    by Meena Krish (10)

This poem is wonderful! The style of writing, the words, the flow and inner music... it's all just perfect. The thing about some forms of poetry is that they are hard to execute while making it meaningful and of a purpose, but this was done through this poem. The message it sends is ethical and relatable to all victims of gossip and slander. It starts with the negative effects of words and ends unexpectedly with how some words can help lovers steal hearts... This comparision gives the reader a big realization of how word choice has a great impact on mankind.Â

    Traveler [String Haiku]
    by Britt (7)

This poem is so beautiful and deep it enchanted me. I didn't expect it to be about finding inner peace and seeking your sanctuary, but it made it all more meaningful. After all, we are travellers in this world by heart or in reality and we only travel to seek that place where we feel happiness and all our sorrows are soothed.

    The Beckoning
    by Vince Gullaci

A lovely, gentle little poem that draws out the dreamer in every poet. This piece could be about nature, about love, about life or about death... and that's what I love about this poet's style. A single sentence, so effortless and uncomplicated, is actually a tightly coiled nugget designed to unfurl in your mind. This poet never tells you what to think - there is only ever a casual invitation, a crumb from the feast of his imagination. (7)

    A last poem
    by The Huntress

This poem is a little too involved and personal to let me appreciate it as a stand-alone work of art, but I admire its well-written, stripped-bare courage and honesty... it is a cut wound, inflamed and raw. Unlike many 'vent' or 'rant' poems, this poem still held my attention through some unflinching lines that are quite beautiful. It's clear that this poet has a great respect for language, and can work wonderful things with it with seeming ease. (4)
    ---------------

I am a Pixie (Acrostic Mix)
    by Maple Tree (4)

This poem is a masterpeice and unexpected, it shows the poets personality beautifully and indirectly. The beginning is tied to the effect her playful and joyous personality has on others, the rest is an explanation of how she came to be this way and how her personality fits her... I enjoyed the interaction between the inner emotional her and her outer being... penned beautifully and differently than other ''describe myself'' poems. It deserves a win.

    Conspiracy Of Silence (4)
    by MeME
Silence and judging are two things that do not come easy for me and would like to include my overall feelings on how difficult the talent on this site makes it but This poem reached out and someone has to get points .

    ^^^^

Can this comment be clarified either through Chels or a mod to answer on the judge's behalf? I'm really not sure what is meant here? Did this judge post it on their facebook account...it's a bit misleading, at least to me?

Also, the comment itself gives no reason as to why you gave this poem a 10....I'm not saying it doesn't deserve to win....it most certainly does but...I'd really like to know why this judge thought so?

    Hi Hellon,

    This is my assumption:

What I understood from that comment is that Adonis ( or someone else) posted the poem in Fb and from there, the poem showed up in the Judge's news feed. The judge might have liked it and shared it, perhaps? However, it seems... after reading the poem in the weekly contest, the judge realized who Adonis is.

But also based on that comment I can tell that the poem left quiet of an impression on the judge for him or her to would like to see it go viral.

I mean, the poem left me cold when I finished reading it, I wasn't expecting the ending. But also can you believe that I had forgotten what cyanide was? now I remembered...

So yeah, I also agree with Hellon, the poem needs a more constructive comment. Or at least, what makes you like the poem to go viral? or like Hellon said, Why give it a ten?

    Generally speaking:

I mean, I feel the weekly contest is what keeps this site "together." I think many are looking forward to the judge's comments. So to see a comment like that one, it's only for the author of that piece to enjoy it, but the rest of us gets pretty much nothing out of it.

and it's not just that one comment, there are others that are like one or two sentences ... I know everyone is busy and life is hard. But if one volunteers, I think one can spare a little bit more time for the winner and Hm's poems. I mean it's only 3 poems that will be commented.

Also I have noticed that there are so little poems being nominated, the judges don't have to read as many... so that leaves more time to at least write 6 or 8 sentences.

    Or is it too hard?

I agree with a few of you who have raised concerns about the quality of the comments each week, However I feel that each week the judges have been 100% bang on with their choices for winning poets.
For that I say thanks and well done.

I would imagine that it would be hard to hold a few dozen excellent poems in your head and comment also . There are so many great poems nominated it could be hard to weigh everything considering just when you think they can't get better and they do

    BTW ..CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS

    From The Judge:

    Cyanide

I saw the pictures of the dead children from Syria and thought about all the slogans like free Kuwait , free Iraq, when I am tempted to believe it is a propaganda tool to distract from the real reason innocent children suffer and die in civil wars. The poem cyanide personified the casualties of war on an emotional level that reached my spirit . I compare it to 911. I t is hard for me to get passionate about poetic feet and iambic pentameter. When poetry has no soul I have no use for it. This poem touched me a little deeper than the other excellent nominated poems

The judge could have got it backwards LOL since "A Scene" has over two hundred visits to give us an idea how many times the front page is visited
