PnQ Moment

What is your favorite PnQ moment? Could be anything... favorite thread/contest/comment/poem/person etc... the list is endless!

  • Colm

Off the top of my head, mine is probably Abby's marathon club challenge. It was so unique and so fun, was it over a thousand poems churned out in a few days?

  • Britt

My gosh if it wasn't it was darn near close! That was such a fun challenge!

  • silvershoes

Can't help but think of the pirate stories, but those were so long ago, I'm sure I can come up with something more recent...

I'll come back to this soon.

  • Britt

I know I keep thinking of the big, big things that everyone loved, like Abby's marathon-er. We should do another one!

I miss all the old intellectual debates. I never took part in them (this was back in 2005) because I was terrified of these boards, but I learned a lot from them.

  • Melpomene

Abby's Marathon was a highlight for me, I remember being up late and writing poems, going to sleep for a few hours, getting up and writing more, then to uni, writing some at uni. It was a lot of fun. We should do another one, preferably on a weekend, Aus time ;)

Some of my favourite moments were shared with Nor in RTVW. Way back in the day.

  • Larry Chamberlin

Definitely Abby's marathon. The hours spent in the club coordinating, the PMs furiously urging each to post in order, the frustration and the bonding.

Baby Rainbow's challenges most recently compare favorably.

Generally the site-wide contests. We need one to get started!

  • silvershoes

Yes, all of the site wide contests were fun to watch! Abby's was especially wild, and I wouldn't mind taking part in another one... Where is that woman?!
Certain members were highlights for me as well- loads of members that don't stop in anymore, or rarely.

  • Britt

Four mods posted in this thread back to back?

Am I in the twilight zone? :P

I think we have someone working on a site challenge now, I was PM'd asking if I had interest in it... thinking they're making sure people will participate first.

  • Chelsey

Ive been around 10 years and have no idea what the hell a Marathon challenge is...where was I???? hahaha

  • silvershoes

Ha, we're probably the only batch of 4-5 mods to ever post back to back or in the same thread ;)
... or maybe my memory sucks. Yeah, probably that.

Chelsey, you had to have been around for it... It can't have been that long ago. Maybe 2 years ago at most.

That's awesome if a member is planning on creating another site contest!

I know... I have it! My favorite PnQ memory is when Janis came back :)

  • Chelsey

Yay for the mod party up in hereeeee!! haha!

hmm, I blame my busy years on college, boys, and drinking for missing that one...yes someone do another so I dominate lol

  • Chelsey

To add to this though, not gonna lie, though I love everyone I met here, my favorite days were about 8 years ago, 13 yrs old, my first club I joined was CC&P...the original members of that club, just amazing, we had so many fun and cool conversations I'll never forget.

Along side of that, before anyone was ballsy enough to put their pics up as their profile pic, we made a Photobucket account for the club only. So one of my favorite moments were seeing peoples faces for the first time.

  • Darren

As I am not a veteran on here yet my memory is much more recent. That is Colms inter club challenge. Probably the last time the site saw some huge participation. It was also the beginning of the end for the ravens haven. However it was an excellent challenge and we even had a villain in one of the judges.

    This is a beautiful thread!

I love this site so much and the people in it all have huge hearts. When I registered here in 2007, I don't remember getting too involved. I had a few clubs I was in and started but then found a family in M&M.

And Yaki, I do remember the vocaroo threads you started and I would listen to some of them! Amazing when you can match the voice to the poetry... miss you too and hope to see you on here when you get the chance, you are not a traitor in the least bit ;]

I don't remember Abby's contest, probably didn't look at main boards too much not sure, but I do remember more recently Abed's Hunger Games, how intense that got! And then when we really connected as a club with Colm's daily challenges, and doing the speed race of poems with Jenni :]

  • Chelsey

Vocaroo!!! Awww I just thoroughly enjoyed listening to people recite poetry that was so cool. Colm will forever be my PnQ man crush because his voice is ammazzinggggg. haha ;)

Abeds contest was so creative and so stinking fun, I agree with you Maryanne.

  • Britt

OH the Vocaroo! I loved that, so fun to get to hear everyone's voices, and the accents! I love how diverse this place is!

Some of my favorite moments have happened outside of PnQ, but with PnQ people. Meeting Chels was absolutely awesome.. I'll never forget that little old lady who asked if it'd been a long time since we'd seen eachother.. we did the whole screaming/hugging/jumping-up-and-down business, haha!

Another time, I'll never forget, was Andrea and I talking on the phone. This was probably six or seven years ago, and we laughed SOOOOOOOO hard because of this stupid keychain. I can't even remember what the keychain did, but I seriously almost peed my pants. I think after that is when she started calling me Pantso LOL

Sib and I have found out we're food twins, and that's a bond -no one- will ever be able to break.

Melpo and I have spent... HOURS upon HOURS brainstorming poem ideas, site ideas, challenge/game ideas for the site/clubs we're in... also brainstorming ideas for her art for uni, and the endless discussions of Big Brother episodes, and of course Pretty Little Liars.

Colm and his incessant traveling -- I live vicariously through him! I get to see some really awesome photos of the places he goes... plus he lives in my dream-vacation land. Lucky dog.

Karl will forever be my sports buddy, which to anyone that knows him wouldn't be surprised by that fact at all. He likes the Oregon Ducks, so he is a man after my own heart, haha! I've even got Jason having me constantly ask Karl his opinions on the game, what'll happen etc.

Lu... OMG Lu. The woman just knows how I feel about her, and she's helped me through so many hard times in my life, especially the transition from teenager thinking I'm a big old adult, to actually becoming an adult lol. She's so supportive.

I've made some really incredible friendships on this site. This isn't even half of it... but this is what keeps me around here, fighting for this stupid website lol. If any of you feel as blessed as I do for even one of these friendships, then I know you'll understand what I mean :)

  • Chelsey

LOL that old lady was soooo cute!! Shes like "has it been a while since youve seen each other?" my mom was like..."actually they just met" hahaha!

Oregon was by far one of the best states I've ever been to and that was an awesome trip.

I also got to meet Maryanne TWICE, we had so much fun at the lights before Christmas at my zoo. Believe it or not folks, I got Maryanne to play in a serious air guitar rock band in front of EVERYONE at the zoo, and its on video lmao.

Andrea on the phone is THEE best!! If you don't say "ANDREA I HAVE TO GO NOW"..she'll talk you to death, lol..too cute.

Some older people I miss are Eirisa..omg she was the best person ever. We did care packages from Australia to the U.S...I tried vegemite and she tried Kool aid. She was one of my best friends on PnQ then vanished about 3 or 4 years ago...hopefully the dingos didnt get her :( lmao

Darien...I still see he pops on , but is not active, though I text him often. Hes the sweetest Canadian kid ever. One time he was out at a pub with his friends, and it was around Valentines Day, he bought this heart thing to support some kind of campaign or company, and he wrote "Darien and Chelsey" hahahah so my name was totally hanging in a Canadian pub. awesome!

There was also this sweet older lady named Ann....we emailed often she was like a grammy to me. Always uplifting, she was active a lot on the site back in CCP days...I think of her some times too.

Gahhh I friggin love this place, I've met awesome people!!!

  • Britt

Mel and I send each other food ALL the time! Actually her birthday is in a couple months, I'd better get started so she will actually get it on time, lol. I always send her peanut butter M&Ms and pop tarts (because apparently they're outrageously expensive). She sent me vegemite and YUCK. lol Not tasty at all. She needs to send me more.. umm, I can't think of what they're called. Chocolatey candy-cookies. Tim Tams? YES. Yumm.

We should do a PnQ food exchange lol

  • Chelsey

You know we get Tim Tams in the states now? lol

  • Poet on the Piano

That's awesome Britt! Although I've never heard of Tim Tams

Ahh of course Chels! Meeting you twice was the best... especially when you drove over first and called me a few minutes before.. I was like, can't believe it's her! Had no idea what you sounded like and was so surprised how tall you were lol. And you got me my own fashion scarf and had those photos.... And yes, of course you would have that videotaped and probably will never get rid of it. We rocked that little area, wonder if people were watching and we'll go down in history? Now you just have to get in a band for real :D

Wish I could have seen you and Britt meet, sounds hysterical.

Haven't spoken to Andrea on the phone but I would probably not stop laughing either! I remember when she posted the video to some PnQ people and she mentioned me. I told my mom about that, it was so sweet.

Also have to mention when Jenni sent me a package for Christmas. It had Eminem and tons of little candies and food that I put out on the kitchen counter. I would be alright with this official PnQ food exchange haha.

CHELSEY WE DO NOT! WHERE?! I haven't seen them anywhere! Some weird Ohio store? Lol

  • Larry Chamberlin

    AUSSIE TREATS!!!!

Tim Tams are at the World Market here in Houston.

I still have to settle for Marmite, which is a poor British substitute for Vegemite. [MMMM . .... vegemite on warm buttered toast, aarrgghhhhh]

Also, they don't have tornados here yet (an Aussie novelty of two liquors in a swirled glass).

On the other hand, we don't have bulldog ants either, thank God. The fire-ants & crazy ants are too much already.

  • Britt

She also sent me these little chip type things too that were delicious. I got them right around the time I had my wisdom teeth taken out so I had to wait, and then ate almost all of it in one day (and felt sick, lol).

Never heard of tornados, that sounds interesting. What kind of liquor is it??

I've never seen a fire-ant. I don't know if we have them here or not.

  • Chelsey

Weird Ohio store, LMAO KMA.....Target, around Christmas....I'm like dude, this isn't a Christmas cookie, its an Australian cookie that can be eaten all year round. wtf?

    hahah!

OMG FIRE ANTS! The death of my toes when I was a little girl. Them suckers at me up...

  • Britt

Well, I mean, you do have weird stores lol.

I don't think we have World Market. Grrr.

    "Attack a mod day"
they give us a day to attack the mods of those days "2008" and I did not come short. I lost my account shortly after. it was so much fun though.

  • L

Site, wise? probably Colm's challenge. I wasn't part of the site when Abby's contest took place or May be I had just joint it.

The battle of the poets that Chelsey hosted and Abed's contest as well.

ohhh ohhh and How to forget Andrea's and Chelsey's videos lol.

  • silvershoes

I remember hammering the mods pretty bad too in that thread, Ddavidd. Haha, those were the days.
Who wants another attack a mod day? You can say anything you want to us in a designated thread and we can't respond to it or penalize you. I think there may have been other restrictions, and the mod squad was different back then... Some members did end up getting penalized soon after, for "other reasons." Ha.

  • ddavidd

I agree "those were the days my friend"
you guys can not do that because you are not baaaad.
That was the significance of the P&Q of those times. bob shank was tyrant and fun in the same time.
They asked members to go ahead and say anything they want for a day and then when I complied wholeheartedly, they got so mad at me that the next day, I ((WE)) were history under false pretences.

  • ddavidd

Silvershoes: "As far as my knowledge goes, all of the mods are egotistical, power hungry, conceded, controlling, secretly insecure JERKS with no lives outside this poetry website. Which is all find and dandy. None of them are people I would CHOOSE to be friends with, but my inferiority forces submission and false genuity :)"

this is what you said back then. I quoted it exactly . but unfortunately all my posts the posts of my counter part, "Frooghe" and bob's and so many others are gone

  • Britt

    JANE!

"None of them are people I would CHOOSE to be friends with, but my inferiority forces submission and false genuity :)""

I was on the mod squad then you jerk-face! :P

Correction. I just saw the post and it wasn't the one from when I was a mod, lol. Kevin was still a mod then, and I became a mod right after he stepped down.

Where did the other one go then?!

Edit: It was the Bash a Mod...

    Jane said this:

"Britt, you know when someone is really sweet and you find them annoying beyond comprehension but you just cannot bring yourself to insult them? Yep."

    Bahahahaha

  • Chelsey

Lmao Luce....my dancing on the hotel bed video was pretty damn funny. i forgot about that and it was a year ago haha

attack a mod day :( I'd feel so bad....we should have love a mod day, not more burtality. peace not war people hahah

  • silvershoes

OH MY GOD I WAS SUCH AN ASSSSSSHOLLLLEEEE. My jaw dropped reading those threads.

Hellon, do you actually miss when I was that snarky, sarcastic, sharp-tongued punk? I think being a mod made me nicer and more understanding. Growing up may have helped too.
Britt, I'm sorry I said that! I didn't know you, hahaha, and you are definitely not what I wrote. You're a healthy mix of sweet and strong, and I've come to think you were one of the best mods this site has seen. You're also the only reason I'm a mod.
It's funny Kevin was on the team back then and now I love the guy. He's a very dear friend.
To be honest, I had a soft spot for Bob too, but perhaps after bash a mod day, he started to dislike me...and well, I think we all know that escalated quickly...
And I was so hard on Joe for his crush on Liz! How could anyone not have been desperately in love with that girl?

Oh well. It makes sense now why anyone didn't like me. We should probably have an Attack a Mod day now so retired mods can dish back what I gave out ;)

  • Britt

HAHA I actually went through and read a TON of threads including mod in the title (clearly I'm too busy here at work?) and laughed and laughed. We were all so darn MEAN to each other! Thank God we grew up!!

Being a mod now during any ration of crap you have to deal with do you see why I probably came across sweet? Trying to play nice so people will listen to me. And then I turned rude, and then nice again. I think PnQ has seen many sides of me that I didn't know I had. lol.

I laughed so hard at some of the arguments, just because... how stupid? At least now the arguments are because of politics or religion or something that actually MEANS something to people!

  • silvershoes

I don't think I can read more than what I already stumbled on in the bash a mod threads :( Feeling pretty ashamed.. ha! I was tempted to unlock the threads and delete my posts, but that doesn't seem right.

Digging up old threads can be fun though. Let me see what I can find that isn't terrible.

  • Britt

  • Britt

Oh WOW Jane.. lol. Almost anyone who posted about me it had something to do with me modding.. do I have an identity outside of that?? Lol

Was Abby's marathon SERIOUSLY 3 years ago...?
