what is a "hook up"

my friends always tell me to "hook up" with some guy but i dunno wat it exactly is, can anyone tell me wat to do wen i "hook up" with some guy

Well, as i understand it, "Hook up" is where you take him fishing, and well, this is kind of weird, but i think you stick a fish hook up his bottom and throw him in the water.

Fact.

Nah, it means to either get intimate, as in make out, as in kiss, fondle...or it can be a friendly slang term for meet up, hand out etc.

I like my original explanation better though.
