A few months back I shared some youtube links posted by Omar bin Musa, the 2008 Australian Poetry Slam Champion. A few members seemed to really enjoy poetry with a good ol' Australian accent so I thought I'd share some more of it. The following are the 2012 and 2013 winners.

2013 - Jesse Brand performing his winning piece.

and for a real thick Aussie accent

    2012 - CJ Bowerbird:

Gosh...what can I say...I really love both of them for different reasons...I honestly thought the second one was better but...when I looked at the faces of the two poets and realised the first one was younger I kinda barracked for him in the end...probably because I could relate to the contents more I think but...hey, really loved them both so thanks for posting :)

Glad to hear you enjoyed them Hellon! I liked both as well but I found myself responding more with the second poem by CJ Bowerbird, maybe it was that thick accent haha.

Comedy wise...the second one for sure but..Mrs Millar just has a little place in my heart now :)

I can't get into the first one... it relies too much on the emotion in his voice (which doesn't really change the whole time?) and he just sounded... angry? I'm also not really on board with his reference to jesus (I'm not religious at all, it just doesn't work for me as a comparison).

The second one, though, has a lot of high points. I probably missed some humor because I'm not Australian? Or maybe it was just a little unclear as to which character was him and which was the barista. But, I'm totally a fan of the sentiment. Alllll the hipster social activism for popularity's sake drives me crazy, finally someone offering a little humorous critique!
    Thanks for sharing, Mel!
