    Tears of the Poor (Acrostic)

    Tasting salty bitterness,
    Engaged in a lonely entree
    Arranged and designed,
    Rudely, by
    Society.

    One line
    Forms my existence.

    Tactfully, I smile-
    Humorously
Evolved in another world I create.

Please and thank you are whispered,
Only to receive a brick of cheese.
Onward I lead the others in a crusade of
Rich desires within my own imagination.

In his autobiography The Seven Storey Mountain Merton reflects
on the journey most of the secular world rejects
The poet wrote about the tears of the rich and the poor
In a place in his heart many seemed to adore.
Where men pray with their hands and also make cheese
With the time that they do not spend down on their knees

    Dichotomy

    The tears of the rich
    flow
    because much is never enough
    and each person
must face the tyranny of cosmic
    termination.

    The tears of the poor
    flow
    because hardship is not enough
    to let each person
    experience the absurdity of cosmic
    humiliation.

    Tears of the Rich

The moon was a cheese made of milk,
    with slick-like texture as silk.
But now, it sits in the sky like a child: ill, sick,
    Yes... sleep deprived
While a Town, green so rich, watches it
every night from atop a hill
as if it wanting to reach it to treat its misery...

    to then eat it.

    A loaf of bread
    a jug of wine and
    a wheel of cheese;
    who needs thee?

2 is the best poem by far. Effortless structure and flow. Brilliant.
