    2) 34 - 36 syllables

    Go away
    there's nothing here.
    Go away
    save yourself, dear.

    Nobody wants you
    now.
    You know it's true,
    hun.

    Go away
    don't come back.
    Go away
    before I crack.

    3).

    I ran aside the sun,
    hope- my constant companion,
as I warmed my bitter thoughts
and thought not about the end,
    but about the anticipation
    of a new world.

    4).

    Counting Stars.

    How futile it seems,
to love who we don't know,
to pray for what doesn't plague us,
to dream under pregnant twilight skies.
Yet there is glory in finding meaning
in what time has often neglected.
So, let us hold each other, and count
not only the stars in our eyes,
by the stars we cannot see.

    5)

We view the world in blacks,
    grays, and whites while you're
the one who noticed color as
    you look back.

    We only drink the words
    that others say to us
    and somehow you managed
    to become each of them.

    How does that work,
    how were you so special?
    So beautiful, so wise?

    We wanted to learn
    from you and truly live
    and it's a shame you're gone
    we merely wish to see
    the world through
    your bright eyes.

    Colors, emotions,
    they make all the
    difference.

    6)

As I write this, there is a black rose
sitting on the dresser across the room
from me. Rain is lightly drizzling
from the rooftop. Words are just stringing
    themselves along a bland page
that more than likely will never be
read again. But I want it to be read,
I want more people like you to find this
and realize just how perfect your life is -
even when things are not perfect.

I want it to be completely
understood. I want it to be

    life changing.

    7.)

    Precious gold, you hold
    a sweet mammoth,
a ribbed scepter in your summer hands.
    Your tongue swivels, seeking
    the delicate yellow skin.
    Teeth mark territory, wet kernels
popping like daisies in your mouth.

    8.)

Last night I painted my fingers red,
    a slick shellack candying
    ancestral claws.
    The alcohol sunk deep,
    the skin turned brittle
    stiffened in the wake
    of thickening gloss.

    9).

9:17 pm, and my heart is sinking
into an ocean I cannot measure,
waters murky and faith too dark
    to bring back safely.
I do not know how the world
    sleeps tonight, but I pray,
    with my lonely reflection,
that they too can hope for sunset...
for the promise of rising and not
    drowning in our doubts.

    10)

    make a wish
    hold it tight
    close your eyes
    just for tonight.

    The world is dark
    right now, hun
    that's okay
    soon returns the sun.

    The computer burnt a hole
as it sat, whirring in my lap.
    It fell through my legs,
    my charred edges puffed
with pride and sent a note:
    To reddit, with love.

    My poor wilted rose,
    innocent darling,
    what happened here?

    Your smile once
    outshone the sun,
    love was all you knew.

    Stringbean,
    don't go down
    that path.

    Don't follow in
    her footsteps,
    you're so much
    better than that.

    My poor wilted rose,
    innocent darling,
    what happened her?

    4.)

    Yellow Submarine

    How bleak it must be,
beneath a limitless ebb and sway
    to be a yellow capsule
    filled with beetles gnawing
    at your upgraded cabinetry.

    5).

    We are the herded ones,
    salivating for direction,
    thirsting for peaceful waters.
    We follow any signs
that direct us toward a positive,
yet we fail to realize, that the
    negatives in life
    give us the willpower
    to do more than just

    survive.

    6).

The pearls on her bracelet narrate a love story,
as the girl is fawned over by haughty dignitaries
who perceive her value as a genuine price of beauty.
But she, is a princess within, without a crown
or royal gait to grace into. She found the pearls
resting at shore, spit up by an aggrieved tide
that wanted to know love comes in more forms
    than gems.

    Dreaming of the past
is all I have to keep me
    from fearing what's
    to come. Today, though,
    shame is all I see.

  • BlueJay

    8)

    Eyes flutter shut
    like butterfly wings
    in the early sunrise

    I know you're gone
    but dreams of you
    come so swiftly
    that id rather live there

    than to wake
    another day.

    Fingertips trace
    the outline of what
    was once your
    silhouette

    and somehow
    even though it's all
    over, you're still here

    loving me

    every step
    of the way.

  • Poet on the Piano

    9).

    I feel disoriented.
    What day is it?
    Why does my fish slink
    away from aquarium light
    and perform the jitterbug
    at a hallucinatory hour?

    [12:51 AM]

    Blink, blink.
    squint, squint
    spectacles resting
    on wood for hours.

    And I can't remember
    the last time I curled
up in bed without awaking to
    sweats and cramped legs...

    But I must finish tonight;
    these words are thoughts
    that haven't been killed off
    yet.

    2. 34-36 syllables

    Catharsis -
    A beautiful release of
    emotion and passion.
Stripping me bare to the bone

    Naked poetry.

    Whenever thoughts drift to you,
I am greeted with a purity I am still
    miles away from.
Your sincerity is foreign to my eyes
that spin around in merry-go-rounds of lies.
You are Easter lilies, for you always loved
    praising with mighty trumpet blasts,
    opening sweetness with outstretched arms.

Little Plastic Castles (a song by Ani DeFranco)

    There you go again
    'round the corner,
    back to sleep,
    up before the sun

    and I'm just a blur.

    Only know my name
    when you've had
    six too many drinks
    and your memory's
    a bit more foggy.

    There you go again,
    'round the corner,
    back to sleep,
    up before the sun

    and I'm just a blur.

    5).

We seek each other like battleships
    reconciling the conquests mapped out,
realizing we can speak above water
    without submerging into solitude.

We mourn each other like seagulls
croaking and struggling to fly again,
for we know our life's journey ends
and will sing once more with all humanity.

  • Poet on the Piano

    6).

    Lord, I beg for
    summer rain to
    wash the blood
    off of their streets,
    rinse terror from
    childrens' eyes,
    and shower the
    country with
    forgiveness.

    But they still
    want to spew hate,
    erupt like volcanoes
    and send death as
    missiles...

    Lord, the innocents
    can only be saved by
    your touch.
    Please, rain down
    love and let it heal
    the wounded ones.

    I need to feel like
    I'm falling.

    To hear your story

    with your hypnotic voice.

    Let me fall
    please

    A mother sings a child a lullaby
you keep her from crying again,
I've got wiring lose in my head
cause I can't see the love in that.

    Somewhere a father is playing
catch with his son, teaching him
the ropes and you are there too
keeping them together a while longer.

You always had a heart of gold,
so unique and untouched by the
darkness that can be the world,
take my hand and show me your way.

    I could never forget
    December 9, 2012
    when angels held you
    tears alleviating pain.

    I am so thankful
    our last words were
    "I love you" and that
    our hearts connected
    one last time.

    And I am certain
    you celebrated Christ's birth
    with our Creator Himself...

    What are we
    but places others
    fail to see,
    when we are travelers

    to enter a wearied mind
    and deconstruct what they find.

    mom,

    I borrowed your monkey sweatshirt

    Don't get mad,

  • Poet on the Piano

    I cared for you like
    a flower, petals torn
    by fierce winds.
    And you never heard
    my words of love,
    simply being cradled
    was enough during
    through the onset of spring,
    to the beginning
    of fall.

Never Say Never by: The Fray

    We need to reinforce
    what drives us,
    refining our vocabulary
    to include and surround
    ideas that grant us
    opportunities,
    and never leave us
    cornered.

    The sun will rise -
    The moonlight will fade -
I am ready to run -
    and forget their lies -
let's leave the world behind -
    Follow that butterfly -
    Just have fun -
who knows what we'll find -
    I'll be yours -
    And you'll be mine -
    We'll laugh and love -
so step away from the doors -
    off we go -
    to see this place -
    all its beauty -
or simply watch the show -

There's a list of names from
all the people I never loved
    that I keep tucked beneath
    my mattress. Nothing hurts
    anymore other than that
    one thing you called me.

    The one thing that was
    so simple, so common,
the only word you ever used
    just for me.

    Words just aren't
    the same

    anymore

    Don't you dare
    try to stick your mysogyny

Trying to find one just hard enough
    to chuck at you.

    Run in the rain
    like we did when
    we were young.

    Stand in the puddles
    letting your toes
    wash themselves
    of hatred in the
    pure tears of
    angels telling stories

    of summers long gone
    and rivers over flown.
