    1 sense

It seems I betray a certain
    orientation, a way of seeing
    the world, by the choice
of words I use to describe it.

    From moonshine to sunshine

There once was a fine club that flowed like the river
Aye ,I was a taker, sunshine was the giver
The warmth made me start thinking
so I gave up my drinking
nary a moonshine has ever healed me liver

    Counting

    Counting the days
    in a month is like
    counting inches
in a yard of poetic feet,
how does in seem so long,
    yet short of here.

    6. Religion

    Risen Spirit

When my heart is an empty vessel
after I take my very last breath
may my soul find a place to nestle
    in paradise following my death
with no blood left in my veins to bleed
my cup shall surely be running over
nothing left to want, nothing shall I need
Remains resting deep beneath the clover
a seed planted in the lowly earth
may the Holy Spirit grant eternal birth

    Special Occasion...
Take a deep breath to blow out....

    I don't recall my first
    doubt I'll recall my last
    Remember the future
    forget the dark that's past

    8. Wild card... your choice of poem.

Funny the song is so long

My fingers on frets, my head's on the rail
Before the train comes I will tell a tale
While I write my last song and play my last tune
Anyway my ballad will be over soon

    (refrain)
So if you have a minute ,won't you listen to my song
Of how I lost my love, because the world done me wrong
I promise I will sing it fast, so it won't take me long
I know some folks won't listen, cuz they're not that strong

Once I was an outlaw when I stole for fun
Then I had to steal just to stay on the run
Running from the truth, then from the law
I was the fastest fool that they ever saw

    (refrain)

I could steal your money before I took your heart
Not a jack of all trades, but a master at my art
When I hear that train comming that's all she wrote
Lord, I know this song must end on a sad note
Lord, I know this song must end on a sad note

    (refrain)

    True Form (Triolet)
I am searching for my true form
if my words must have true meaning
let me choose the ones that are warm
I am searching for my true form

    may my Lord be intervening
I am searching for my true form
if my words must have true meaning

United States of America, I came
from the State of Louisville Kentucky

    Well, what was lost
    has been found, sounds

    6 religion

    Losing our religion

    We are losing our belief
if we have no lies to tell
    I can't get any relief
    Adam & Eve somehow fell
    or at lest they evolved
    from some apelike creatures
    mysteries have been solved
    look at human features

    7. Special Occasion... birthday, Christmas, first time eating cheese??? :)
    Lofty Prayers
Once I went to the place
    where monks make cheese
    looked into His face
    down on my knees
    in the monastic church
    while a bird was perched
    singing His praises soft
in the top of a loft

    Nature's Scorn

    On stems of a rose
    are many a horn
    armor nature chose
    when the flower was born

    from one who endured thorns
    then somehow arose

    Round 3

1.Must include at least one mention of the 5 sense organs... example. sight, see, eyes, watch.

I've heard not to stick my nose
    where it does not belong
often leaves a bad taste that grows
I've had that feeling all along
    Watch out for the smell
    that make your eyes water
    That echoes in the well

    Round 3
    2 Funny

to read them while I'm on my own stone throne

    4 Must mention a country/state/town

    Graceland is in Memphis Tennessee

    for a price almost everyday
in the good ole US of A

    Round 3

    6. Religion

    Religion is a paradox
when all are not that orthodox
    Many call faith blind
    yet others seem to find
    a common denominator
    The spirit of the Creator

    Round 3

    7. Special Occasion... birthday, Christmas, first time eating cheese??? :)

    Thanksgiving

    Remembering last thanksgiving
and all to be thankful for.
    I am healthy and living,
how could I ask for more?
    My occasions are many
my days have not been few
    curses there's not any
when I spend time with you.

    In my Book

    A fictitious prose
    narrative of book length
Is not the style I chose

    who miraculously saved me
    from my disaster
    a self inflicted misery .

    Watch out
    Please watch your tongue,
    bad words, poor taste.
    Ears burned, bells rung
    sticky notes to paste
    sad songs to be sung
    it is not too late
    to sing the blues
    that sense your fate
    mind your P's & Q's

I promise to stand behind you when you are ahead

    Two Hearts Beating (Triolet)

I am now searching for a season in times
where rhythm never seems to miss a beat.
In my mind there is reason and rhymes
I am now searching for a season in time.
where I may rest while my spirit climbs
my senses are five, ten is complete
I am now searching for a season in times
where rhythm never seems to miss a beat.

    Round 4

    4. Must mention a country/state/town

    New Hope

In the United States there is a town called New Hope
near where some hemp is grown not just for rope
I wonder if they had peace pipes in Kentucky
or were the pioneers not quite that lucky

    ROUND4

    5. 30=36 syllables

    Round 4

    6. Religion
    Tree of Knowledge

Religion is not intrinsically good or evil
yet the stars do not decide our path
roots that are strong only withstand upheaval
for so long before succumbing to wrath
the tempest clears the way to perfection
    each generation sacrifices all
the strong survive by natural selection
yet each tree is surely bound to fall

    Round 4

    7. Special Occasion... birthday, Christmas, first time eating cheese??? :)

    When Opposites Merge At Night

    Hot and cold is warm
    room temp is the norm
    inner space and outer space
    orbits in an empty place
    shadowing the light
    until the day is night.
The living inhale a first breath
compared to the last at death
from a south to a north pole
    spinning as if in control
    worlds move like an electron
    around a central neuron
    in a universal mind
of a sole and single kind

    Round 4

    8. Wild card... your choice of poem.

    Edge of Tomorrow

    Passions burning,
    the world's turning,
    on the edge of tomorrow.

    Lives have been lost,
    freedom has a cost.
on the cusp of great sorrow.

    We break our backs
    to pay the tax,
    we beg or barrow

    It's worth the price
    to sacrifice
    on the edge of tomorrow

sense organs... example. sight, see, eyes, watch.

    Goldie Locks

    My eye sight is falling
    but my ears still hear
    night crawlers crawling
    when I am in fear
I feel the chill in my spine
    when I smell the fox
    this bed is not mine
    said Goldie Locks

    2. Category: funny!

    Help

Seems like I was younger yesterday
At least I didn't need help here anyway
Now a day latter I'm not so self assured
does that mean that I have most likely matured?
Help me if you can I'm getting creamed
oh so much more than I ever dreamed
    won't you please,please help me
    just a funny humorous parody.

    Round 5

    3 formed poem

    Looking for Love (Triolet)

I am searching for my true love
with crippled wings and broken heart
    an angel fallen from above
pure as snowflakes, white as a dove
I am searching for my true love.
Godliness and holiness off the chart
I am searching for my true love
with crippled wings and broken heart

    Round 5

    4. Must mention a country/state/town

    Movement in the USA

Selma To Montgomery Voting Rights Trail
Have you heard the Alabama bloody tale
of folks who had to fight for their vote
leading to the famous speech that he wrote
dreams become reality with many sacrifices
freedom is not free until folks pay the prices

  • Michael D Nalley

    Round 5

    5. 30=36 syllables

    Stressed and unstressed
    syllables sometimes form
    a pattern unlike the rings
    around the planet Saturn
    spaced out randomly like
    in the theory of chance.

  • Michael D Nalley

    Round 5

    6. Religion

    Heliocentric

    Once the world stood still
    while the sun moved around
    a perception if you will
until the whole truth was found
The religious have often confused art
    with time tested scientific fact
Philosophy and science are far apart
as lenses that only reflect and refract.
