    Round 5

    7. Special Occasion... birthday, Christmas, first time eating cheese??? :)

    Before I was Born

It was about this time in 1955
I was in the womb, but alive
    I was conceived before December
to tell the truth I don't remember.

    8. Wild card... your choice of poem.

    Pawn (Triolet)

I feel like a pawn in their game
I am not even a white knight
a coat of arms to my sir name
now has been buried with no shame
I feel like a pawn in their game
who's the player who has the right
I feel like a pawn in their game
I am not even a white knight

    Round 6

1.Must include at least one mention of the 5 sense organs... example. sight, see, eyes, watch.

    Ill be watching you
    until you're out of sight
    It make my ears blue
    not to hear you tonight
    listen my love
    to what I speak of
    taste the passion
    with your tongue
    be in fashion
    of songs sung
    in the sweet scent
    that our senses
    often represent
    love's pretenses

    2. Category: funny!

We often think of worth in stacks of money
also we think of sweet, in combs of honey
    when I think of value
    I imagine how you
think of my sense of humor in terms of funny

    Terroristic Neglect - etheree

    When
    one speaks
    of cruel
    acts done by men
    those that are undone
    rank highest in punished
by karma in the next life
    and a thousand incarnations
to be suffered through until one sees
a simple "no" would suffice to end it.

    6-4 city or state

    I took my kids home
    to Chattanooga;
    climbed the mountains
    swam the lakes;
yet it was when we walked
    on the unlevel grass overgrown
    the embers of my childhood
that I knew there was no
    Home to ever come to again;
finally it flew away in the wings
of electric fire and wood frame.

    The dance is useless

    Catholic Zen

    Universal beliefs are sparse
    yet universal condemnation

    On the anniversary

    So long ago so many
gave so much, not just lives,
    so that their children
would never have to repeat it:
the war to end all wars,
peace lasted less than 20 years
    For that they were
    une generation perdue.

    6-8 Wild card

    The Canoe

    In the deadly dipping
    of each stroke the paddle
    stirred and defaced the surface;
    whorled death spiral pools,
    sucked spiders that ran on
    tender tension, broke their
    tacit suspension of dis-beneath;
    these parachutists whose wind
deserted them on the lake might
    have believed in the avoidance
of fate, until we came through.

    not from me

Peace in the middle (English Sonnet)

From strongest soldiers we desire decrease
that thereby mother's child might never die
But as the reaper should by time increase
her tender heir won't bear her memory
but yours contrasted to mine own bright eyes
feed the light flame with the substantial fuel
faking a famine where abundance dies

you who are now the world's new adornment

    Reflection

If all religions reflected good deeds
there'd be enough Light to fill all needs
but earth's shadow often gets in the way
then Light is blocked while we pray
Peace on earth good will toward men
a saying as true as it ever has been.

    Mother's Birthday
I can't remember my first with her
but I once perceived one as my last
certainly I mean the way we were
not that far back in the distant past
It was cold outside but we kept warm
right around the end of December
even when power went out in the storm
    Cooked on kerosene I remember
In meditation conceived in such mirth
I've come to understand eternal birth

    True Colors

We gazed at the orange sunset while we were still friends
Without a single thought about how everything ends
There is only one light but how it sometimes bends
The darkness has no power over what the divine sends

The colors of the rainbow is an illusion we once knew
Sevenfold red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, violet and blue
If I could have I would have sent you them after the flood was through
Though my spine was yellow I would have bled red blood for you

Did we ever know what our illusion was worth
Or were we green with envy as green as the earth
Did we search for gold when we should have sought mirth
Must all colors fade without a lovely rebirth

When I look into the darkness mostly what I see is black
I long for blue skies and I want all my colors back
Somewhere between the indigo and the violet we must lack
Is a path we need to take to get back on the right track

    Helen Keller

I can't imagine what it would be like
in a world of no sound and sight
I can almost hear her say it's slightly
better to walk with a friend in the dark
than to walk alone in the light( lightly
in silence) I could nearly hear her remark
as my mind's ears are not so afflicted
as the perceptions of feelings conflicted
far be it from me to attempt to misquote
anything that such a brave one ever wrote

    Idols made of Stone

    An idol made of stone
    appears to be on top
    but one that stands alone
    is destined to flop
    into a million pieces
    the fall is inevitable
    as the pressure increases

    barren and so untrod
    no human can defy

    Chemical Abuse

There is a balance of using and abusing
that took me a long time to discover
meditation and medication can be confusing
it is harder for some than others to recover
because prescriptions are made to the letter
not if a little does good then a lot is better
reason is the first that is numbed in a drink
so I used to take another to help me think
the same may apply to any drug of choice
that alters the conscience that little voice
It is mental health hanging in the balance
Heart soul and mind suffers with imbalance
Healing in sprit is best sooner than latter
I know of only one power that is Greater

    New Day

It is latter in the morning, a new day
seems I never run out of things to say.
My obsession with reason and rhyme
many times lifts my spirit to the sublime
At the end when my day over, I am done
Lord if a positive word could lift just one
I consider my time writing is so well spent
Thank you for the gifts that you have sent
When lines between dark and light is blurred
may you heal my soul divinely with a word.

    Life melancholy

    Lying on the ground
    ... lifeless,
    desprate
    waiting for the broken peices,
    to ressurect and renew,
to rise and hold you up once again.
    Alas, you stay,
    on the ground
    ...filthy, disgraced
Knowing that you will be the one,
to pick the pieces and mend what is lost
    ... Only you,
    but right now,
you wish to stay glued to the floor,
    paralized

    Struggle

    Waaaaaaa!!!
Out of the womb you climb,
    you come with a cry,
    to fight,
to trimph and be the best,
    although you are oblivious
    to what is ahead

    Tick ...tock...
    You say your first words,
    take your first step,
and indulge in that piece of candy,
    you so grow to love
    You share your first smile
    ... first tear of sadness,
    scrape your knee
    for the very first time
and take joy in discovering friendship

    Tick... tock...
You stive to become your own person,
    discover your true being,
experience the grandeur and cruelty of love
Find out that not all is what it seems,
and be angry and frustrated at the world,
    Rebell

    Tick... tock...
    You smile to yourself,
stand in pride for the great accomplishment,
and laugh as you throw your black cap in the air,
    Finally, you have done it.

    Tick ...tock
    You were wrong,
    not all is done,
roads mingle and tangle in front of you,
you stare, choose paths in haste
and your mind explodes with goals
You want and want and want...
    A job,
    A house, car, materialistic needs
A partner, a marrige and kids
    ... definitely kids

    Tick... tock...
You feel like you got there,
    still a hole remains,
    something's missing,
    everything seems a compromise,
    yet it's ''good enough''
Isn't it all what you wanted?

    Tick... tock...
    ''One foot on land,
    and one in the grave''
    Isn't that what they say?
All you want is to rest,
    some final, eternal quiet?
Where did all the time go?
    Nostalgia takes over,
and all you have is memories...

    Tick... tock...
Ba boom, Ba boom, Ba... boom,
    then a flatline...
and all you see are moments...
    Truely!
Where did all the time go?!!

    Grab my hand

    Darkness resides above her head,
and follows her where light once was
She moans, and prays for deliverance,
from the demons that live inside her

    ... she runs,
but there is no hiding place,
    she screams,
    but none can hear her,
    she pleads,
and threatens to take her life,
for it is the only way...

    Suddenly, she glimpses light,
    a candle in the dark,
    and there follow much more,
    pulling her towards outstreached hands
''Grab my hand'', whispers the wind,
so desolving the blades that were to cut her
beyond the dark she is swept,
to live under the sunshine so bright

    Night time drift

    Eyes sulken, swollen and red,
    body frail and yellow
    Carried off through dark allyways
    and forbidden streets,
    swarming with shrouded figures,
    concealing dark souls,
    and dark intentions

    Eyes lock target,
    perhaps with a rolled paper,
    white powder or clear crystall
    and so they go wild,
    glimmer
    and force that quivering body,
    to move forth,
    grobble and beg
for one last shot, whiff, sniff or breath
    of chemical goodness
    ... an escape from reality

...only to be found comsumed by it,
    in those god forsaken allys,
    dull, stripped of life,

    My heart isn't broken,
    it's a mosaic artwork.
