17.1 One animal and one number

    You had me, a prey,
    Between your tiger teeth
    and two forepaws
    Without even asking me
    For a last request

    17.2 Wild Card

    You were a ship wrecked
    by bad weather, sea storms
    and sirens.

    You were a sailor
    greeting the sea
    with open arms

    You went down, down,
    down

    -like one does when
    they fall inlove-

    Breathless and offering
    your life.

    17.3 Life

Let me dream my way out,
out of this trafic jam, away

    from the merciless sun
    and the children this city
    grows just around every
    rounded corner

I can not promise you the purity
    of all that's white

even as I sit in my sunday best
in my air conditioned and air purified
    office thats two stories high

    yet tweenty thousand feet higher
    than their shattered lives
    and way lower than
    my dreams

Eastern man its so like you
    to care about the innocence
    of the body

    but tell me,
    what about the innocence
    of the soul?

    17. 4 Include club name

    This is to the girl
You fell In love with a week
    Before your 18th birthday

    Matt brown hair,
    Blush-kissed cheeks
    And eye glasses too big
    It made her eyes even

    Bigger.

This is for the girl, the same
girl, you saw 10 years later,
at the club; short bleached hair
    Dancing above straight
    Shoulders, sun kissed
    Cheeks and contacts lenses,
    now.

    This is for the girl
    That you never told
    How you wished for her
As you blew every single damned one
Of your 18 candles that night.

    17.5 Formed poem (excluding haiku/senryu)

Sayonara, she said, like a melody
igniting the wanderlust inside of you.
Restlessly, you denied her fading footsteps,
emitted a shy laugh from within your suit,
never letting go of her perfume.

  • Saerelune

    17.6 Alcohol or Drugs

Beer bottles are litterd around the street
but the stilletoes seem not to be bothered
by the broken shards lying like broken hearts
as they are lost in the neon light
    and cigarette smoke, arms chained
to one another like bff's, until
    they find each other
    in each other's bf's beds.

  • Saerelune

    17.7 10-13 lines

ten or thirteen lines, I see,
    don't think I'll even produce
more than three, or I could if I hit
    enter
    enter
    aaaand, enter
but what good would that do,
    a poem becomes a riddly-diddly-doo
    and no one will understand
    what gibberish I'm spilling.

  • Saerelune

17.8 Must include a metaphor or simile

    I would love to write
    more letters to you,
    but the doves are dying
and I'm curling up like a grenade.

    If, more cinematic, I would
    love to apply lipstick
and sign my words with a kiss,

but this is me, full of headache
    and imagery that's killing
    the hopeless romantic
    inside of me.

  • Saerelune

18.1 Must mention ONE animal AND ONE NUMBER.

Like a phoenix, he catches flame
    but not reborn, not beautiful.
    Soars through the skies
    and dyes rooftops
    a scorching red.

The family tries to save him
from his own flames, but he
angers at the sight of out buckets
    and wavers our pleas
    right out the window.

  • Saerelune

    18.2 Wild Card

If I will ever marry, I will never marry
a timebomb, ready to bury its shards
inside of me, any second, from every corner.

I will not marry a man who's head
is full of ash, leaving trails
as he spits accusations at us.

  • Saerelune

    18.3 category : Life

    I lost my wife, sympathize.

Well, I lost my wife, and my job.
    You sympathize.

Well, I lost my wife, and my job,
    and my legs. Now sympathize.

And we point fingers at each other
    for taking life for granted,
we point fingers at the brokenness
of our hearts, dismissing the shards
    that hang from other bodies.

  • Saerelune

18.4 Must include the words of a club name on this site.

Beyond the dark, the moon is half-eaten,
the other half reflected in your teacup.
There's a crack at the edge, from when
you moved out of your parents' house
and gathered charity like a lost traveller.
The nomad in you felt at peace
by the window, with no one beside you,
no one to mourn with, or for.

    18.5 form
There was a young girl called Mad
who decide she wanted to be bad
so she took her best doll
    out for a stroll
then chucked it at her Dad

  • Darren

    18.6 alcohol or drugs

    Brewed with much love
    Emitting a warm glow
    Exiting through vomit
    Reducing me to tears

  • Darren

    18.7 10-13 lines

    A gift from the angels
    Brought to me by fate
I look at you and smile
    Grateful to be your dad
    Always trying your best
    In everything you do
    Loving and kind

My heart is bursting for you
You are such a little princess

    Gifted from above
    I believe in angels
    Realization of real love
    Lucky lucky Dad

  • Darren

18.8. Must include a metaphor or similie

    The candle now lit
    burns slowly flickering
    in the gentle breeze
    that lingers passed me
    I watch that flame dance
    and imagine another time
    before electricity
    As the wax rolls down
    like lava leaving a volcano
    I know life is short
than we would ever want it to be.

  • Darren

19.1 Must mention ONE animal AND ONE NUMBER.

As I lay on my back
    spread eagled on the grass
that was desperately trying to take the strain
    of this rigid frame
    I felt twenty thousand blades
    all down turned
    gasping for sunlight
    patience wearing thin.

    19.5 Form

Truth flies in the face of deceit
    Rupturing any hope of decency
Ugly men commit sins against humanity
To honour a book from long ago
Hate breeds hate, love is dying

  • Darren

    19.6 alcohol or drugs

You strap up your arm again
    track marks upon track marks
    like a farrowed field
    this shot takes you away
    from this awful place
    to a new existence
    found amongst your dreams
but you leave us all behind
    watching you fall into disrepair
    waiting for the day
we drop you in the hole.

  • Darren

    19.7 10-13 lines

    In this sodden trench
    rats around my feet
    holding my gun closely
    my chance for freedom
    Waiting nervously for the siren
    to clamber over the top
    crawl across dead comrades
who died in this bloodiest of wars
It may have been long ago
    but we should never forget.

  • Darren

19.8. Must include a metaphor or similie

    Dreaming in petals
    dancing majestically
    falling like snow
    all over me

    The smell evades my senses
    my eyelids no longer heavy
    am I really dreaming
or has death come for me.

  • Darren

    20.1

Must mention ONE animal AND ONE NUMBER.

Why are you being a pig
she asked me twice in succession
    she thinks I don't give a fig
    care more for my possessions
I am not good at being open
a closed tome is how I move
I guess she was kinda hoping
that I had more to prove.

  • Darren

    20.2 Wild Card

    A chain smoker has
    lungs of mud
    breath of graves
    and eyes so yellow
    they are cat like
    why give up on life
    to light up one
    then another
    is it such a drag
    when there is so much
    fresh air to breath.

  • Darren

    20.3 life

    We point to the stars
    hoping life's journey ends there
a place where we can meet
    those who have departed
    do we spend to long
    yearning for an afterlife
when time is not on our side.

  • Darren

    20.4 club name

The club of one is still burning
this furnace at the back of my mind
I sometimes hear it calling me
those times when I am alone
but with friends I can avoid
    falling back into despair
a dose of medication always helps
    to keep dark thoughts invading
there was a time that dwelling
    was second only to moping
    my reflection a mocking image
    pointing fingers in my ears
but with love I trudge a new path
    where my children play.

  • Darren

    20.5 Formed poem (excluding haiku/senryu)

    We must never forget
    About those that have falling
    Relishing a life at home

    I often look back
    Searching for reasons

    Why innocent men should die
    Ripped away from this earth
    Ordinary young men and women
    Never again seeing home
    God loves a performance.

  • Darren

    20.6 alcohol or drugs

    Rum is yum
    in a truffle
    but cause's a ruckuss
    when in your glass
    tossing shots like hand grenades
    passed your burnt tonsils
    shouting at your kids
    when you are the invalid
    a hopeless carcass
    ruining my dreams.

  • Darren

    20.7 10-13 lines

    Maybe it was my fault
Allowing you to have that name
    Dad should have said no
    I lost that battle again
So now we have this nutcase
    Only time will tell
    Nobody is crazier

I love this mad little girl
She has me round her finger

    Mum finds it funny
A thousand times I have tried
    Dad loses this round today.

  • Darren

20.8. Must include a metaphor or similie

    Ants go about their work
    scurry like busy commuters

    stealing my lost morsels
    feasting under the fridge.

  • Darren

    Daily bursts of joy
    Answering my call
    Delivering me a reason

  • Darren

    21.3 category : Life

    There must be evil
    if we desire good
    an answer to why
    life can be so feeble
    for every bomb
    there is love
    for every war
    there is sacrifice
    for every death
    there is birth
    I live my life
    in the middle.

21.4 Must include the words of a club name on this site. Yes, you can use the same club twice

    do FOPPERS bounce
    surely they will trounce

    and then will toast
    fragments of poetry.

  • Darren

    21.5. Formed poem (excluding haiku/senryu)

    You
    belong
    to my heart
    I share this love
    knowing you love me
as much as I do you
    fate had brought us together
if that phone call was never made
our eyes would not have found each other
our children's life only a distant dream
    .

  • Darren

    21.6 alcohol or drugs

Do you not know you are a dope
    smoking weed
    whilst trying to breath
your head is in a spin
your pupils the size of wheels
yet you think that you are cool
    let me warn you now
    pot rots brain cells
which means you are on a minus.

    Journeys through childhood
    Are hard alone
    Kindly hearts help
    Especially those at home

    I know you are afraid
    Screaming inside your head

    Just remember we love you
    Our special little boy
    You will never be alone.
