    7.) nature

    Tiniest sprouts unfurl
    in wicked
    jubilation.

    8.) double haiku

    I do like haikus
with really big words, like this
    one that I just wrote:

    Abominable
    necrobeastiality:
    it's not a good thing.

    1.) about me

today I didn't brush my hair
    I didn't care,
and now I've got a piece of straw
    stuck scratching me
    behind the ear.

    2.) someone else

    Abed, abed! Get thee to
    a bed, he said
a funny way to say it,
    thought fred.

    3.) war

    Jack hits the table headfirst,
    two 8s across the table
    weep to leave their home,

but there's no crying in card games.
    this is war.

    4.) money

    this train charges $21
    and the free wi-fi
    doesn't even work.

    sacrilege.

  • Narph

    5.) wild

    the next article
    advertises the shape
    of her bum.

    what a bummer
to have nothing more to do
    than write that.

    6.) color and shape

    octagonal glasses
    tinted red
    tell everyone, stop
    she's too good
    too look you
    in the eye.

  • Narph

    7.) nature

    we all came pushing out
from the same dark wet hole,
    it's natural
    to be grossed out
    by our mothers.

  • Narph

    8.) double form (acrostic/haiku)

    Lines are long and,
    Interestingly,
    Not the most
    Expressive shapes.

    heart beats double time,
    frenzied, pulsating, and then
    exhales into dark.

  • Narph

    1.) about me

    I'm patient, contained,
but the lady who won't stop talking
    in the seat behind me
    is making me want
    to kill something.

  • Narph

    2.) someone else

    She's a sucker
    for silvershoes,
    she likes how they shimmer
    when she shimmies her feet
    to the shamrock jive.

  • Narph

    3.) war

    War poems
    make me uncomfortable.
Not because I shy from violence
    but because
I have no footholds in this topic,
and writing as if I do
    feels violently disrespectful
    to those who do.

  • Narph

    4.) money/sports

    Now the annoying lady
    talks about swimming
    suddenly,
    i hate swimming.

  • Narph

    5.) wild

    the clouds are creeping
    across the sky,
    trying
to pull the wool over our eyes,
    so to speak.

  • Narph

    6.) color/shape

    I woke this morning
    to the soft round
    taste
    of melted butter
    seeping into
    golden pancakes.

  • Narph

    7.) nature

    The leaves
    shuffle
    a windy jazz
    dance,
    and everyone's
    green with envy.

  • Narph

    8.) double form

    Victorious, they took to the
ice, and raising their swords like
    kings, screamed across the
idle ground, a head here, a knee
nicked there, a large sack stuffed with
    gold trinkets on their backs.

Ho, they cried, alighting at a rocky hill,
over the distance, the could see
a range of tiny houses which conjured
recognition of the family they fought for,
    died for even, if needed.

  • Narph

    1.) about me

    I have eyes, a nose,
    two lips and
    a cat curled up
    around my neck.

  • Narph

    2.) pnq'er

    Everyone has their
    dark secrets, the ones
    they keep locked
    in the wardrobe,
    hidden under the
    underwear they never wear.
Mine is just more dark underwear.

  • Narph

    3.) war

    I'll give you a sheep
if you give me a brick,
    and if you don't
I'll set this weird grey robber
    on your ore and
    then, yes then we'll see
    who's powerful.

  • Narph

    4.) sports

I remember the curly haired boy
    with the nice brown eyes
asked me to come play baseball.
    I declined, I didn't know how.
He looked at me with disappointment,
    saying, "I always try things
    when I don't know how,"
    and that was the end
    of our romance.

  • Narph

    5.) wild

what, oh what on earth is a duck?
why doesn't it speak, why doesn't it cluck,
it just sort of ducks it's head in the muck
and sucks and sucks and sucks and sucks.

  • Narph

    6.) color/shape

She wore a tiny princess dress,
    seafoam green and smudged
with mud from all the battles
    she fought against
    imaginary endless blocks
    of soldiers.

  • Narph

    7.) nature

    I always wonder why
    we bother planting trees
    around parking lots,
    where all the trees
that used to stand so tall
    were cut and chopped
    and burnt away
    for cars.

  • Narph

    8.) double form

    all of the people
ride the train to work and back
    a long string of ants.

    the train rolls always,
    collecting our misery
    up and down the coast

    1. Must write a poem to yourself, or about yourself

    Dear Me

When you stare in the mirror
Why do you see an evil ogre?
You have chubby cheeks that's all
Beautiful eyes though void of emotion
You're too cautious and never give
    anything away freely
Your trusting abilities need work but that's
    natural
You did lose the one you loved a year ago
    What?
You don't see that you're beautiful
Funny because I don't see it either
    Yours till eternity
    The Voice inside your head

    2. Must mention a member's username on this site (active, or inactive) yes, you can use your own.

    Midnight soul why so down?
    Your gothic hair looks fine
You're not dead yet so smile
I know it's hard to loose twice
    Daughter and wife
    But hear me out
    You WILL survive, stand tall
As you will one day see someone fall
And that person will be the one
    who took
    The owners of your heart

    3. War

    Light and dark preparing
    their weapons
None will win they're evenly matched
But who cares just as long
    as blood is spilled?
    Innocent lives thrown away on
    a damn argument
    What a shame o well
    Let the war begin!

    4. Poem must mention money, or a type of sport

Figure skating takes a lot of skill
The ice is a brutal mistress
I once tried it when I was young
Let's just say ice hurt my butt
But it's still beautiful to watch

    5. Wild card

    She nearly reached eighty
Her life was a pure hell
    Had an abusive husband
    for a long while
    Bore thirteen kids
    He beat her up
    But women back then
    couldn't speak up
Her mother tried to help as best
    as she could
    But that "kindness" was shallow
    Mother didn't help much
She gave her shelter but the next
    day she'd be like
    "They're taking the mattress away"
Where her and her children were sleeping
    Now she's free of him
    Twenty years ago he died
I personally would've let the bastard rot
But she and her children chipped in
    to bury
    A worthless dog

    6. must include at least one colour, AND one shape

What a beautiful bleeding heart you have
    All slimy red
Must have hurt to have been stabbed
But that's what you get for hurting
    a dame
To the point you left her for dead

    7. Nature

    Frost is skidding along
    the bare twigs to
    crash against the windowpanes.
The wind is heavy against my neck,
as I elbow through the crowd,
my boots soaked in the frozenness
    of the icicle-covered pavements
    and I'm shivering.

    8. Double form

    The battery is
    low, like two percent
    or something, so this

    lazily written poem will be
of course my last one for now.
    Well, I'm screwed.

    1. Must write a poem to yourself, or about yourself

    There's nothing in me but
    a woman waiting.
    Waiting for the world
    to erupt with love,
    for god to emerge out
of this debris, for warplanes to stop
    shattering their ways
    through frail hearts.

    2. Must mention a member's username.

    Baby, this isn't a rainbow.
It's the fucking oil you just spilt,
    mirroring the sunlight.

    No invader will ever
scorch the scent of your hands
    off my skin

  • nouriguess

    4. Money/Sport

    I'm writing poems and
    writing poems and
it feels like running on a treadmill
    I'm still in my place

  • nouriguess

    5. Wild card

    Three hours of scrupling
    and doing experiments and looking
    at the clock with impatience
    and anxiety.
I feel like hurrying to the door
    for some fresh air.
I can't wait for my lunch break.
And no this isn't a poem.

    6. one colour/one shape

    A red, round apple
    is sitting on my desk.
    It's so tempting
    and it's not mine.
    One bite won't hurt anyone.
