Your Opinion: are honors classes for smart students or students that have good work ethics? Don't say both either... but today and about 7 of my friends and me from English 9h didn't get accepted for next year's honors class. This may not seem like a lot, but I go to private school and there are only 20 students in English 9h. The only reason we didn't get accepted is that there were a ton of Regular English students applying and they had 4.0's in their classes as opposed to our (cough) grades. So, what do you think... can it still be called an honors class if it is filled with average people willing to do the work? Is that truly honors? I suppose this has to do about writing.... so... answer in poetry..... |

Honors classes are for students with good work ethics and generally without the capacity to think for themselves. |

They are for the people who get good grades, who are "ahead" of the normal class. |

I'm out of school now, I graduated a few years early, but the school I went to before was a very good private school. |

I think that honors classes is just a title. It just says this is a "upper level" class. So i think that everyone who applies should get in. Becaus people with good work ethics can get just as good if not better grades then so called "smart" students. |

In my school honors classes are based on your grades, and your work habits. Honors classes in my school system consist of more work, more notes, harder projects, etc. A very intelligent but lazy student would not do too well in an honors class. A few of the kids in the normal classes might have been put in the honors class next year because they have acheived good grades, and were often bored, or finished early in the class. It's all on if you're willing to do the work or not. I know plenty of kids who are geniuses but refused to be placed in an honors class because they didn't want to deal with all the work. |
