Title: The Ocean floor and the Shorelines
"I know, the tides from oceans are rising higher.
Soon, tsunamis will have us breathing under water"
Said the shorelines.
And to that, the ocean floor replied:
"Not long ago, I was but a shallow land:
The shoreline ground where lovers walked
Holding hands, kissing under the moonlight
But then came the tide, the water rose
pass my land...
And I no longer was a shallow piece of land.
I was filled with depth.
Not the depth of the most profound
parts of the Ocean
But with the depth to comprehend
that now, my waters were enough
for a child to swim in them.
And now, with the passing of time,
my waters have risen more than enough,
for people to dive in them.
Though I still feel like what I am,
a shoreline like you both are.
Nothing changed."

A Lifetime to Start
Dream Keeper, Dream Keeper,
are there any dreams stashed away
in my file or have they all just been
nightmares and haunted shadows
waiting to feast on me?
I've given up on learning how to
keep breathing under water and
when memories crush the soul
what kind of dreams could
possibly follow? Dream keeper,
Dream Keeper, please just don't
let go of my mind yet.
Give me one more night
to try and dream with a
velvet heart and no choices
or regret, hold on a little longer,
just for me.

Title: The Rose and the Gardener
Once upon a time, in a garden flourishing with jasmines, magnolias, daisies and all sort of flowers, there was a bud and a gardener conversing.
And the gardener said to the bud:
"Just for me, you'll be a rose.
The most beautiful of my garden.
But if you bloom in love with the sun.
I'll strip you out of your roots.
I'll cut you from the stem
And I'll expose you to the world
Until you withered in my living room
Like the many other roses."
To which the Bud replied,
"Indeed, my gardener,
Just for you, I'll be a rose.
The most beautiful of your garden.
But if you touch me,
I'll sting you with my thorns.
I'll make you bleed...
Until you regret
trying to separate me
from my love,
The sun."
---
And thus, the Bud bloomed in love,
And the gardener, did what he promised,
But first, he sting his fingers with her thorns
To later, cut them one by one,
Until it was just her, part of her stem,
And her petals withering in a vase
Of his living room.

A fortress of pain
built in a dense present
just for you,
Guarded by troubled memories
and bloodied truth
to sleep in just for me,
No comfort can penetrate
when memories crush the soul,
Gone is the hope
from a velvet heart whose choices
were eaten by the wolves.

Another One Gone
When any night's darkness meets the dawn
It signals that another one's gone
yet remains hope our life is long
every early bird sings a song
before silent reapers search for prey
yesterday's gone for another day

Transcend.
When you met me that Saturday morning,
it seemed the world was still drowsy,
fog bewitching lonely crops,
children soaring through dreams,
mothers clinging to rosary beads...
but my heart? My heart was tired
of silences and destitute smiles.
You started to sing "Climb Every Mountain",
reminding me to press on through
the clamorous cycle of illusions,
that God gave us choices,
though my mind tastes life for me
and I often become
tongue-tied.
When memories crush the soul,
I must challenge regret, trick it
to set itself on fire so I can
kiss away the embers.
When I can't breathe calmly for me,
I'll do it just (for you).

Title: Regrets
Things I've never said to you:
I'll never take off my sunglasses again,
because I'm still afraid of the dark.
I still sleep with my childhood blanket,
because it holds a comfort zone of safety.
Hoodies provide a warm home, unlike you.
Hibernation was my only means of survival,
thoughts couldn't hurt me in my sleep, like you did.
I'm glad you ran away from your own problems,
it gave me time to solve my own.
Yes, I have regrets by not telling you all this,
but I'll remain a label on a bottle, full of unopened emotions.

Title: Confession
Oh, father art thou in heaven,
I must confess, church is uninteresting.
Sitting in pews, head bowed in prayer,
silently hoping this suffering goes away.
My mother was a catholic, my father, Christian;
my brother was an atheist, and I...well, I don't know.
Forgive them please for they have sinned,
every one of them deserves a place in heaven.
Forgive and forget is something I've learned,
I have blocked out the nightly beatings I endured.
I will never understand why you leave me alone in my loneliness.
If tears are cleansing for a soul, then I'm an angel,
pure of mind, body, soul and broken hearts.
Still a haunted shadow looms over me,
a huntress trying to kill what's left of my sanity.
Forgive me: for I deserve all the beatings I got,
there is nothing left of me, but the devil inside.
Raised in hell, I've become accustomed to fire,
I'm the pyromaniac that burnt the house down,
and took my family with it.
I'm sorry father for I'm the real sinner.
