I was under the vague impression that this site was at deaths door, coughing up blood and crawling towards its eternal slumber because it looks a bit crap.

But I think it looks more likely because those that arrive afresh with a bit of energy are pounced upon and tore apart by a few old wolves.

Nice to see the cycle continues....main board becomes a no-go area unless you require somebody to tear you a new naught.

Hello...this is the internet peeps! You don't know who you're talking to on here. Yes, members may appear nice and friendly etc but...realistically you have no idea who they really are so, to get over friendly/open up or...be in sync with ANYONE on here is just a huge no no in my books and...it has nothing to do with being an old wolf pouncing on fresh blood nor is it jealously as suggested...it's common sense folks...that's all!!!

Hellon I respect your beliefs and ideologies etc, but I think that you're a very pragmatic person and perhaps you're not seeing my point of view in this situation, I'm not saying I'm going ti go out and have a party with everyone here and just hand out my life story to every Joe Slovo, all that I'm trying to point out is simply that I enjoy having a good old fashioned friendly conversation or two with some like minded poetic people, and yes, if course you'll have one or two people who will lie about who and what they are, but I'm not going to let that cloud my judgement of every person on this site, because the fact of the matter is that for every lying and fraudulent person online, there are at least two honest to goodness nice, friendly and optimistic people.I think that this entire conversation is being taken way out of context by everyone here, we're all ganging up on each other over am entirely trivial matter and that's not what the message forum is about, this is meant to be a place for everyone to just let loose and have a good time chatting with other poets about anything other than poetry, not fighting over trivial matters, so could we please put the past where it belongs, behind us all, ignore any comments that may or may not have offended us (this goes to everyone here) and let's start on a clean slate.

Hellon stop trialing new members. She do not need to explain herself for this long. She does not need to show her resume. Do not scare newbies away. It is a bad habit. This site is like a spinster that the older it gets, the more unattractive it becomes, the harder is to please. Birds stop briefly here, if few times someone throw stone at them, they do not come back. There is no loyalty here. If there is, you all have to bow to me, because I have been here since 2003. So get over yourself.

Oh my gosh!!!! Forgive me but I found the convo between you two SO humerous!!!! Firstly Hellon, there is no chance in hell that ddavidd and I are one person,I live in south Africa, and am 100% different to ddavidd, yes I admire his work as am artist, and yes I see him as a bit of a mentor, he's given me some great advice since I joined and I must just tell you, that I was just as surprised as you that he nominated so many of my poems, but who am I to tell a guy what to enjoy or not???? Also, your theatrics in stating at first that I've been on the site for ten minutes, then stating that I'm a pro to this site (which I'm not) is really (to quote a phrase that ddavid called me after being as silly as you're currently being) "juvenile", you're making a mountain out of a molehill, and I see no reason for you to now gang up on anyone who disagrees with your arguing with me about this really trivial matter.I think you're being ridiculously stubborn about this entire situation, I've tried to make peace with you several times, but it seems you're beyond letting things lie, so I'll just say goodbye,I hate conflict as it is, and to be frank this mindless arguing is exceptionally draining.

Hellon is a great person and I like her. We always get on like this . It doesn't mean anything . We always have enough maturity to come back and start anew next time. Without her this site is unbearably boring. And she is much older than you (grandma) so I am glad that you consider that in the etic of your conversation

Illuminati here does not refer to an esoteric group but a former member who has yet to come forward. By contrast, Ddavidd came out with his former ID some time ago. It is a not uncommon phenomenon given the history of the site.

And yes,I have the unfortunate nack/habit of being entirely too open and honest when I'm online in any site, in fact I'm shocked that you guys don't already know my entire family background from the day I was born ha ha :-) also,I must admit to being rather disappointed that illuminati was simply a title and not a member of the esoteric group (mind you if he/she had been a part of the group they would not have divulged that information anyway :-\ me and my blonde moments ha ha :-P)

Yes,I haven't had the pleasure of conversing with Larry properly, but from the little conversation I've had with him,I think I might rather enjoy his company :-)

I, too, am an open book, in more ways than one. Actually My wife & I went through your neck of the woods last October on my way to Cape Town. Unfortunately we saw little more than the airport and a B&B nearby.

I back pedalled a bit too far and fell off the table.

Captain my captain might still hear me from the floor though...

once I get up and dust myself down, I can climb back up on the fence where I am more comfortable.

Darn, if only we'd known each other at the time I could have taken you guys around and shown you the land :-P SA is actually a very pretty place I must be honest I've warmed up to it over time, and now, somehow without NY noticing it's become home (I'm actually from Zimbabwe) but I think it's since I went back to Zimbabwe for the first time in about thirteen/fourteen years and saw how it had been pillaged and destroyed, it was so heart breaking, so I sort of subconsciously forced myself to accept my fate of becoming a South African citizen, and now I find myself being proud to call myself South African, though I still remember my roots and cherish the better memories of NY motherland.may I ask what you came down here for? And how did you enjoy your stay/visit,I hope you went to at least a few tourist hotspots?? :-P

Each October my wife & I travel to WARR.
Seriously, that's World Airline Road Race - a 5k & 10k run hosted by an airline in a different country each year. Last year it was in Cape Town, hosted by South Africa Airline. My wife is a speedster, she always wins her age group. I, at 64, am proud to finish each year. We didn't spend any time in Johannesburg but we did get to Kruger Park and saw tons of animals. In the Cape we stayed in Stellenbosch & took tours around. Of course we did the Cape and saw the penguins and seals.
On the day of the race they took us to Groot Drakenstein Prison & we ran from Nelson Mandela's hut to his statue.

I've written poems about the races, but rarely posted them.
I've posted more poems about our trips TO the races (The Crane Bar most recently, also Tai Shan - at the top, The New Opium, Bamboo Scafolding) & I posted a poem I wrote WHILE racing (Satoric Feast). The latter was inspired by Mandela & I actually recorded it into my cell phone as I jogged along in South Africa last year.

Ddavidd...I read in another thread somewhere on this site that you claimed to have 6 personalities in your head so I figured there would be more than one of you on here just second guessing who it could be lol!!!

Hazel...I guess I was just trying to give you a little bit of a warning to perhaps not be so open with your personal life...as Ddavidd said, I'm much older and I hope a little wiser :)

Anyway...I like to stir the pot...ddavidd knows that and...hey, it did liven things up a little haha!!!

Larry, you don't actually have to leave the country for your ip address to change...you can do it in the comfort of your own home by downloading the proper program which is free online...even I know that :)

This my friend is worse than barbarian laws that says everyone is guilty unless proven otherwise in oppose to Anglo-Saxon that say everyone is innocent unless proven otherwise.

Do you remember when you were chasing me and kept saying that I was that guy and whatever I said did not acquit me from your suspicion, which by the way is like the darkest dungeon with no way out? You did not even stop when I said I was being hurt. Now that we know he was illuminati, you did not even apologies for all those harassment in which Abby, and even Larry supported you a little bit.
