So far, the ones who have more than 2 accounts most often are those not playing by the rules and it is easy to identify them for that reason. Either they are circumventing the rule about voting for themselves, or entering more than one club or using the accounts to approach members for the wrong reasons.

Give everyone 3 - 5 - 6 accounts and you no longer have the wrong doers sticking out like sore thumbs.

Additionally, it takes far longer than a few minutes to check on multiple accounts. Without going into the proprietary specifics, it took me forty minutes last night to satisfy myself that a current member in this site is operating multiple accounts. Don't give me the "few minutes" wave of a magic wand business please.

There's something to be said for wrongdoers,

Ever notice how much more animated this place gets when there's a baddy on the lose?
I want more rule breaking, more controversy, more action. And espionage. That would be nice.

So I vote for multiple accounts.

Also, on a personal note, after having been on the site for so long, I have to say it would be fun to have the opportunity to start fresh with a different persona.
Larry, you caught on to me immediately when I snuck back onto the site. The fact that I was concealing my identity to do so wasn't an issue at the time. Would it be any different if I was pretending to be someone else on a secondary account right now?

I know this has nothing to do with the issue of pedophiles and true criminals wandering the site, but surely there's some wiggle room here.

Thanks Narph and I quite agree! I was Trinity Heart and to Hellon's original question in the last post I have done a "collaborate poem" with myself it was interesting because I combined both sides of who I am NOW and who I was THEN that's the true difference between me changing screen names: Joker Queen, The Fairy Marry Poppins, and Moria Bella Bair on this account now my other account were DemonicAngelWings and Trinity Heart (No longer Bair it never was my last name and I admit Moria isn't my real name it's the mixture of my whole name as a whole like both Moria and Bella are from my name just mix the letters up) ANYWAYS, Narph is right we have become in a way timid and a tad distasteful I would love to have "verbal" fights on PQ I want some excitement! :) and I'm in the right club if I was to do so lol Larry it may take you a bit but you know what? Everyone has secrets to hide or people have different personalities I know for a fun fact a friend of mine has a split personality and that personality likes having her own s*** that includes emails, passwords, and accounts. I would love to meet new people or try to figure out the old ones, it would be entertaining to me!

I have a brilliant idea. Selene is now Abby's alternate account. She can have it. I don't know the log in details, so really, nobody does. It's inaccessible, but I will sign an agreement that says it belongs to Abby (or any other member without a second account who's willing to help me out). If I ever do have the log in details again, I'll pass them over to Abby and ask that she changes them so I don't know them anymore.

Everyone drop your jaws in awe of my faultless plan. We have gifted accounts to other members before. An example? The joint mod account.

Why Jane? and hmmm I guess I could give my account to another...and hmm so what if somebody already did this before? Like the original person made the account for an ex and then gave it to the ex but the said ex didn't want it...could she keep it as her own?

Sweet Jane, thank you for your gift. I've never been so pleased with something so inactive, harmless and completely useless. But if it keeps the mods and rule-sticklers satisfied, there is much to be said about your genius.

Larry, I have never pretended to know how long it takes to locate IPs. I keep asking. A few mods and members gave me the impression it didn't take long, but clearly there are cases popping up (how often?) that require further investigation.

Funny thing is, I would have thought that allowing multiple anonymous accounts would actually make it easier for the wrongdoers to stick out like sore thumbs. An IP check that reveals multiple dodgy accounts would surely add more meat to any existing suspicion? It's not like changing this rule is going to increase the chance of pedophiles etc using this site, and they will be revealed at least as frequently by using the same process? Just curious about how it works.

A lot of people are repeating themselves, Larry. I don't see how my asking you for clarification is discounting or ignoring your statement. It's quite the opposite.

But here's what I keep repeating that you keep ignoring:

Im on my phone and busy so just popping in but Abby Id say the opposite, or at least that its pretty split but a lot of members are against the idea as are for it, and allowing some accounts of well known members is essentially the same as changing the rules for all as rules should be the same for all.

You have not established your premise, as many members have asserted the opposite. However, even if most members are ok with multiple accounts it would be irrelevant.

We were entrusted to moderate the site and cannot relegate that duty to a majority. It would be a breach of our fiduciary duty to do so.

The moderators must make that decision with the best input from the membership, taking into account the clearest rules of the site, and with the ultimate safety and protection of the members and the site as our goal.

Colm and Larry, I know a few members have expressed their discomfort at the potential anonymity of multiple active accounts and the havoc of the unknown, but who has said they would mind extra accounts that clearly state the main account? Or are obvious inactive accounts? It's the dishonesty that some people have an issue with, right? What did I miss? How is an inactive or trackable account going to breach the protection of members?

The 'clearest rules' of the site are those set by the owner in the tab above. Even those rules and the extra rules set by mods have changed over time due to common sense and decreased need, not duty. There is even a disclaimer in the mod's rules that 'the rules can change at any time'.

And thank you for responding to me, but there are other thoughts and questions raised by other members who you have not yet responded to.

My name is Ingrid. I am Zanthonies mother. I love the idea of a tribute poem. I myself have not come around to writing one. Zanthonie said to me in his last days that he had met some nice people but I didn't quite believe it. But after reading such encouraging comments on his poems and reading such cheerful e-mails I am beginning to think otherwise. Zanthonies passing has been incredibly hard on my family and it really feels good to know that someone cares enough to write a poem for him. Zanthonie was an outstanding person and he will be eternally missed.

Narph, I think most people feel the latter isn't an issue. The current rules allow it anyway. It's just about whether MORE than two accounts are allowed following the same rules of public statement. And whether a previous account that has been inactive for years is doing any harm either.

Whether someone is real or not is anyone's guess at the best of times.

Michael, what a shame that those discussion threads emptied as members left. Not much debate left in there to digest. I'm glad nowadays that a member's posts remain on the boards even after they leave.

Can we at least admit an account that will never be logged into again and is publicly known doesn't count? It's inactive and will never be active again. Like Selene. If you don't beleive it'll never be logged into again, feel free to occasionally check the profile for a log in date. On my word, you will never see one. Isn't it fortunate profiles list last log in dates?

Larry, I think you were (by far) most actively involved in handling the pedophile cases. It has probably, rightfully, made you connect multiple accounts with evil-doing. I lack the experience to have the same personal, negative association, and I think the reality of the risk of multiple accounts is probably somewhere between your perspective and mine. In that, I don't think either of us is wrong. However, I really do believe that I'm not being wholly biased when I say an account that's publically recognized and inactive is OK. It doesn't count toward the 2 accounts permitted. If it becomes active again, that's different and may not be OK. We can keep tabs on inactive accounts that members don't want deleted if members know they can tell us about these accounts without risk... and know these accounts will not be tolerated if they become active ever again. Anyone can check, not just mods.

Yes it is hard to make sense of the old thread because of suspensions that never were contested and angry members deleting their own accounts :(

Ha. It's very strange. I'm reading the poetry of Selene now, and it's like meeting a person who never existed. I do not relate to this strange Grecian creature at all. We are composed of so many shades, and sometimes we forget. I'm happy I will continue to have the opportunity to revisit an old (or young?), imaginary (or not?) friend, who once meant so much to me, and somehow still must.

Yes, it is good indeed. Well, whoever she was, I've just discovered she had great taste in poetry if her favourite authors are anything to go by.
