Narph, in response to your comment which I never remembered to answer:

    Are you joking?
You think it was hard for me to recognize you in a fake account?

Baby, you couldn't blend into any sort of crowd!

I thought you were about to quote Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing.

Most of you know what book Daenerys is from now that Game of Thrones has become one of the most popular shows on TV, but does anyone know what book Selene is from? If you haven't caught on, I love strong, independent female warriors/leaders.

Additionally, it takes far longer than a few minutes to check on multiple accounts. Without going into the proprietary specifics, it took me forty minutes last night to satisfy myself that a current member in this site is operating multiple accounts

    ^^^

So what did you do Larry...after you had satisfied yourself that this member was in fact operating multiple accounts?

The mods as a group are dealing with it

    Hah!

Don't tempt me, Larry. Now I might have to try harder to fool you under a new account. ;)

In truth I was only partly joking. I think I'm unclear on the rules here. For the record, one user is allowed to have two accounts, yes? If so, does the user have to publicly acknowledge that they are the same person on both accounts?

Yes. In the very least, you are expected to use these 2 accounts morally. Don't comment on your own poetry, praise your own comments, nominate your own poems, vote for your own poems, deceive other members in a manner that may be harmful, or join multiple clubs. That's what we have set in place right now.

Good to know. Where are those rules written down exactly? I looked, but couldn't find.

I see the gardening mods have been doing a little pruning and weeding :)

    EDIT

How hard would it be for you mods to run an ip check on new members before letting them join...just to see if they are linked to another account? I know that won't solve the problem but...wouldn't it decrease the problem of multiply accounts? I've seen three members signed in today who have joined between 2010 - to present and none of them have any poems or information on their accounts so...why are they here I wonder?

The membership is automatic now, Hellon. It does not require approval by the mods.

I did try doing an IP check on each new member for two months when I first had an issue with an account. Gradually it got to be so backlogged I had to give up. There were more members joining every day than I could keep up with so that I eventually was nearly a week behind. Instead I scan the new members to look for patterns and spot check. Not as effective, I know.
