We have three clear winners this week! The Poetess swept the front pages with a massive 44 points. It's not often we have all 5 judges voting for the same poem so congratulations on this. Following the Poetess is Rusheena, an older member from 2007 who has taken their first win (correct me if I'm wrong!). We then see the very lovable Sunny on the front page with a poem that depicts real life events in quite a chilling way. Congratulations to our three winners this week but also a big congratulation to our HM's, you guys deserve this thread just as much as the winners do.

Wildfire by Poetess
An excellent piece that raises the question about the sustainability of the logging industry and as well as attest to the fact that the economic greed knows no bounds. By employing a first-person perspective of the trees, the author manages to encapsulate the life of an average tree beautifully and poetically. The brilliant display of imagery and an excellent diction is what made this poem powerful, in my opinion. The phrasings like '...my brother's strong arms / were weakened into frail, /brittle bones' were just spectacular. Amazing write! (10)
Hands down one of the TOP Nature poems on this site to date.
Just a well written and out of this world poetry piece by Poetess this week! I was blown away... just beautiful.
She captures the message of wildfires, killing her family and tying in trees as family Leaving me crying. I could smell the ashes and burning, rushing out of control.
Her word usage was amazing and the metaphors were so well done, just an amazing
Poem!
You can even go deeper with this poem.. the loss of loved ones by natures hands.. I can't express how sorrowful, and elegance go hand in hand here. Powerful poem by Poetess !! (10)
I loved this poem, the imagery and the way you described this person that caused the wildfire was obviously close. I loved how you wrapped it all together towards the end. All in all this poem caught me emotionally, painted the picture that you wanted, and made me feel connected. Bravo (10)
I was crying as I read this piece, simply for the beauty and perfection of the write. It not only leaves an impact of the world and how delicate it really is but it leaves the reader contemplating many things as well. The way that this message was relayed to the audience is fantastic, there is an undeniable sense of emotion that shows up in this and a marvelous use of imagery helps make the point even more impacting. This poem really touches on the sad truth of nature, and how many humans continue to treat it with such disrespect, and uncaring. I think the personification in this poem is truly outstanding, really making that tree so real, it could probably be read and taken as a humans view of a bad upbringing too. The title was so strong and really drew that poem to pinpoint such a disaster that happens more and more these days, and also to highlight the ending of the poem with the word "massacre" what a really powerful image to end on. A really fantastic poem, really creative blend of sadness, truth and nature. (10)

Engulfed in Ashes by Rusheena
Rusheena amazed me... I've read this piece many times and fall in love with it over and over.
Darkness burning at a strike of the match... consumed in flames.. The explicit details she uses makes me vision a woman entranced at the mere site of a match.. burning..
Flames of a past perhaps, ashes to ashes, dust of death..
Powerful display of words by Rusheena!! (7)
This piece is heartbreaking in the most beautiful way. It is descriptive and emotional. The images are so clear that the reader can picture enough of the story and still put their own personal spin on this piece. The way that voice comes through here is phenomenally unique which seems to get more and more difficult with this poetic theme. I looked up the pools of inspiration noted at the bottom (except the story which could not be found, since it is noted a classmate wrote it) and it is wonderful how each was included within the piece, they all have a different feel and theme to them yet they intertwine nicely here in this write. But overall this piece truly blew me away. (4)

Arachnid; The Hunter by Maple Tree .
Maple really has been through the wars with this stalker of hers, however, she does well to turn events into poems! This poem is filled with the eerie tone of that spider following her, but yet she cannot see it with her own eyes. She only knows it has bitten through the aftermath of its bite. It is so true that the common fear of spiders is stemmed quite a bit from the way they move and disappear so fast, which this poem really highlights. It was a good touch to add in the poem how the author does not wish harm to any living creature, yet she finds herself unable to forgive and forget this particular species, quite rightly so. I also like the humorous ending of the weapon of murder being a boot! Great write for such a "creepy" topic. (10)

Sunlit her by Karla
After a couple months of posting nothing, Karla came back strong with numerous poems that were worthy of praise. This was one of the nominated poems that caught my eye - I interpreted it as an inquisitive piece that wonders where the riches of her life lays, and as well as the riches of her soul, as she combats the mundane of day to day life. I was floored by these verses: 'you always become what/ you were designed for', because it both invokes hope and destroy it simultaneously. If that proposition is true, than was she destined to this mundane line, or is this merely a stepping stone to greatness. Exceptionally written! (7)

Universal Truths by JaneDoeWrites
I'm in love with this poem - the beautiful poetic verses and metaphors and similes that were executed perfectly made this poem quite memorable. I love these lines: "You were as a breath/ flooding my apathetic vessel/ to it's brim, an overwash of serenity/ that kissed the hands of my turmoil/ before sending that familiar bleakness/ on it's return to an abyss" it's diction is perfect and similes and metaphors are exceptional. I love the continuity of these verses as well, the apathetic vessel being returned to an abyss, it works wonders, and ties in nicely with the poem. Great write! (4)

Consequences by Hannah Lizette
This poem is filled with many creative descriptions that really drew me in to the poem. The lack of sleep being the only routine easy to follow, shows just how unsettled and chaotic life is for this character, and how the only thing reliable is the fact they cannot sleep easy. The intruding thoughts are well portrayed, as well as the consequences of past decisions which clearly haunt the character in present life. To relate the consequences to being inside an urn is such a unique idea. The hint of medication at the end, also shows the desperation for a good nights sleep, and how this sorrow and despair is within this person every day. (7)

Mood Swing Dance by Kristina
What a unique piece by Kristina!!
Love the crafty design of word display in this poem.. Mood swings
Are so up and down and so is this poem. Very creative and in tune with
Each fine detail ... each stanza left me up and down... and sideways..
Very unique poem, leaving me speechless actually. I was left confused in areas and that is a compliment to this poem, because mood swings are very confusing and can leave a person in tears, not knowing why... Powerful poem here by Kristina!!

Tree of Autumn, Heart of Spring by Maple Tree
In this poem you can just tell that it is autumn. I feel like it is almost describing a person (not sure if you intended it that way but it works perfectly for this piece.)
Im also stunned at how the poem looks, and the falling line worked really well in this poem! (7)

Someone Not Something By Baby Rainbow
I know exactly what it feels to have anxiety. I love the hope in this poem, its described so well that its impressive despite the sad undertone. I love the idea of transition and I have always loved poems about future change. This seemed perfect. (4)

Untitled nearly-sonnet by Colm
This piece is wonderful, there is so much heart and imagery in this piece that the reader is fully intrigued. The emotions here are almost overwhelming - in a good way. Wonderful piece depicting such an intense message. Colm never seems to have an issue with wording, with flow, with any of the technical points to poetry, but this piece goes above and beyond that usual touch. (7)
