    My aunt who was the family historian almost had him listed as kinfolk lol

    It turns out that Nancy Hancock Willet's Uncle Simon was married to Mark Twain's grandmother Pamela Goggin whose first husband was an earlier Samuel Clemens.

    It really threw me because my focus was on the period between the wars.
    But all famous writers in that period had Nobel or Pulitzer prizes, lived in France or England between the wars or died in their forties.
    Then it dawned on me you never said he lived then. Twain died before the Pulitzer award was started & simply did not receive the Nobel prize during the ten years he & it overlapped in time.
