Many believe love is all in our head

    thoughts?

I think emotions in general are behind most of oour actions and choices in life. Doesn't just have to deal with love, it could be other sorts of feelings.

At one point in my life, my feelings did influence my thoughts and life choices, but back then I was much younger, which is typical.

However with all the feelings that could be running in my head and my heart, despite being emotional or sensitive, my mind and my belief in the right-thing-to-do manipulates me.

At times, I'd be feeling something but my mind is telling me to do the opposite, I would step on the way I'm feeling and go for the right choice. I might be wrong ofcourse but that's what I usually do.

But from a different aspect, many people follow their hearts fully, no head or brain in this process tho, and I find that awesome XD

People tell me im of the latter. I don't know if this is true but I go with what feels right and what feels right to me is the right thing to do. Even if it screws me over (it does all the time)

I believe love is a chemical, it cannot be synthesized or induced externally but it is a chemical which is formed in our body due to certain events and it gets washed away after some time!I once used to think love would be real, then after a certain painful mistake I have realized that the only real persistent thing in life is pain and also the strife that accompanies,so I'm trying to cuddle up with that!

I feel you can truly love only one person in this world and that is yourself.

and it takes only one thing to fall in love with someone - a mind block.

As I said love is a chemical so falling in love is a chemical process when all the elements and conditions are right it takes place and yes it's a reversible reaction!

The Balance of The Heart, Soul & Mind" reflects the humanness of us all, and the Divine Redemption, which frees us from ourselves.

On my computer when I google "Chemical Balance Through Spirituality " I am on the front page , but my computer seems to be programed to please my shameless self promotion ;)

My mind says, "nop, he is not for you"
My heart says, " aww, but look at him, he completes you"
then my instinct says, "both of you Breathe, then you'll know."

"I started talking too absurd that means I'm getting comfortable enough here to speak my mind! That isnt good though"

A true artist speaks their mind and if everyone rejects their mind some may consider changing at least one mind

  • John Doe

Yeah no I already lost one and found this one with great difficulty can't change this one and finding another in this world with such a shortage of minds is so difficult!

    Edit: I'm breathing lol

I heard about the chemicals in the brain. It is believe that there are people who cannot stop cheating even if they want to. "They fall in love so often." Though I wonder if they have no will power.

or if it's because they can't distinguish what is 'like and love or lust.' Or may be, they can distinguish them but they still go for it?

When I was younger and even more foolish than I am now lol
I could not handle rejection , most of the ones I fell in love with needed help that was beyond me
Theor pain( in my mind) is from rejecting a higher Love (whatever that may be in your mind )

Saving Grace by Bob Dylan Lyrics

If you find it in Your heart, can I be forgiven?
Guess I owe You some kind of apology
I've escaped death so many times, I know I'm only living
By the saving grace that's over me

By this time I'd-a thought I would be sleeping
In a pine box for all eternity
My faith keeps me alive, but I still be weeping
For the saving grace that's over me

Well, the death of life, then come the resurrection
Wherever I am welcome is where I'll be
I put all my confidence in Him, my sole protection
Is the saving grace that's over me

Well, the devil's shining light, it can be most blinding
But to search for love, that ain't no more than vanity
As I look around this world all that I'm finding
Is the saving grace that's over me

The wicked know no peace and you just can't fake it
There's only one road and it leads to Calvary
It gets discouraging at times, but I know I'll make it
By the saving grace that's over me

But the chemicals released in your body when you fall in love (like norpinephrine, oxytocine, serotonin, etc - we spent a whole month studying them this semester, ugh) are just a reaction. So, I don't think love is just a chemical, but when we are in love, our hormone levels change, which makes your heart beat faster and your knees go weak.
And there's MHC (Major Histocompatibility Complex), the genes which control cell-surface molecules, match in people who are related, and people are usually attracted to other people with different MHC genes, and because they're mostly exuded through body odor, MHC levels could be recognized through scent blaaaahhhh.

But I don't think love is just that. I don't know what it is, but it couldn't be just that.
Some people think it's just a lie our unconscious mind keeps telling our conscious mind so that we keep reproducing, but I don't like this idea too.

Well if not just a chemical then it's a whole chemical phenomenon but for me it can't be anything else(sorry for being so stubborn about this thing) but no love is a chemical, that plays with our mind, screws our body and leaves just when we get comfortable with it,rather call it a drug(a chemical with lower molecular mass), it gets induced by your brain,in your brain( the kind of thing that happens in pre frontal cortex when we are sad( I believe it's morphine that gets secreted, anyway)) and then it refuses to leave and finally when it does it leaves us in need of external analgesics.

There are those who refuse to distinguish between lust and love. I totally accept that lust is almost entirely a physical, possibly chemical reaction. However, to deny love is to narrow ones own possibility for existence. You might just as well deny one's ability to self-effectuate, or even to find true purpose in life.
For me, love can be broken down into two types.
For most people, love is accepting a partner that you will at worst tolerate, more often, partner with, and at best grow with.
For a few people, love is substance. Love is the imperceptible Communication that occurs between rare people. It is the Knowing the other person soon after you meet them, in a way that you do not know even your closest friends. Extremely lucky people are able to combine this experience with lust. In these rare instances, when the lust has worn off, there is a lifetime of substance ahead.

Very well written! It was about this time fourteen years ago that I was experiencing physical changes (in hind sight due to Eros) I was losing weight at the rate of a pound per day. My doctor was very pleased believing this was very good for my heart. CS Lewis divided LOVE, or broke it into four types . I don't recall the order by chapters but one was the Love between man and God another was the love between mates (Eros /Cupid ) thirdly between parent and offspring , then the love between friends.

The Balance of The Heart, Soul & Mind" reflects the humanness of us all, and the Divine Redemption, which frees us from ourselves.

I must have not truly accepted the Holy Spirit because I am not freed from all of my vices :(

It may have been Augustine who said had there been another drive as powerful as sex then he never would have found salvation.

Still the issue is not whether that drive is inherently good or bad but how it is incorporated into your life.

St. Augustine's teenage prayer went: 'Lord, grant me chastity and continence; but not yet.'

I love the song Dylan wrote about him
