I Will Never Ask You
There are so many things
you will stumble over
as you forge ahead
without me into the future.
Life deals heavy blows
and doesn't wait until
you are ready for them -
usually just the opposite.
You must have the freedom
to discover these sorrows
though I'd like to shield you.
How much less you'd be
if I asked you to give them up
and stay sheltered in my arms.

Listen
Love,
I understand you've
Been confused by
The illusions I've let loose
But the bottom line is
keep it
to yourself

Stars and butterflies
Do you remember when time ended?
We swore on every falling star that we
would find a way to make it stop;
just for an instant, but we missed it.
We stumbled across hearts that flowed
like the rivers of love on the moon;
and as we fell do you remember screaming
"Forever is not enough, just one more eternity"
That's when the butterfly landed on your lips.
It's been years now and nature tends to our souls,
singing its eternal lullabies to keep us at peace
but the butterflies at night still try to kiss their stars
Flying hopelessly as they shoot from the sky one by one.

Secret Millionaire
Have I embraced all
the flaws that perfectly
shape my human-class,
that now I feel whole?
Dead stars shining bright
in the axis of my eyes,
cracks deepening in
this heart of floods and droughts,
a fire core blazing in my soul-
sunshine rays combed
within my hair,
hurricanes in my mind,
roots branching their
way into the deep
layers of life and soil
in this globe of death and tombs.
Showered with blizzards
of lightning and thunder
that awaken the lion
of spring running wild
in my arteries and veins;
roaring off the smoke
of clouds I often wear as a crown,
for the king of endurance
owns a kingdom in my blood.
Patterns of diverse moons
and planets clinging to my eyelashes,
stirring beneath my ears,
widening my vision to ponder upon
and listen passionately -
to the harmony in this
aligned chaos of mine;
for I've embraced my flaws
that perfectly shape my
origin as a human;
an identical twin to
this imperfect but priceless universe;
such a secret millionaire.

The End of Time
Time is just an illusion
measured by created suns.
Egocentric delusion
that we are the only ones
who're working toward an end.
What is an end, but a start,
another chance to transcend
to a loving sacred heart
of infinite sole choices,
to accept or reject light,
silence or lifted voices,
drifted out of our sight?

Keep It To Yourself
No one desires to witness these outbursts,
coffee grounds staining palms as love
burns you, never fully out of your system.
They're measuring you up, you know?
Molding, building, mentoring with good
intentions but you already struggle with
the project of recovery. You still sleep
next to bricks, exhaling locomotive steam
because you hold yourself back -
it's trying to travel without a backbone.
No one, that you've known on this earth yet,
will think of you both in the sunlit days and
pain-darkened nights. No one can love you
as brightly as you yearn for, rising from dreams,
conviction in your chest, footsteps sure and steady.
No one can accept you instantly and unregrettably.
No one (but God).

slave across the street.
hearken! for here he strips off dignity, though
it's been chipping away for years. he never closed
the door to temptation, so it knocks at 8 a.m. when
he brushes his teeth near the mirror still foggy
from a cold shower. his vices stalk him, no matter
where new leases lead him.
he invites the worst of him in, because he's too afraid
that if he shatters their hold on him, he will wilt,
not knowing how to sow and encourage life.
