    Burning Lips:

    You have the brightest smile
    I've ever seen, nestled neatly
    between two chapped salmon lips;
    sometimes when you talk
a drop of strawberry blood escapes.

    Sometimes when you kiss
    ruby streams cascade down
    like lava from Pompeii.
    What's worse than that though,
    you leave the other person's
    perfect cinnamon entities charred.

Kisses from you are the kind
    of kisses everyone talks about
    but nobody wants to know;
because you have the kind of lips
a person can taste for years.

    Even after you're gone.

    Burning My Ears

    Thoughts shared online
    words on a screen.
    Piece of a mind
    sometimes seem mean.
    Taste of victory,
    stink of the defeat,
    illusive to me,
    feeling it's so sweet.
    After these years
    have passed me by,
    burning my Ears
    I don't know why,
    I still even care.
    It is so absurd,
    but if you are there
    have you heard a word?

Climate Changed to dry ice (villanelle)

Carbon is the base of organic life and coal
A diamond in progress with the right pressure
that when it cools is left with a sub zero soul

Earth, wind & fire have played out their natural role
When cloudy frost is gone the ice is clear, for sure,
Carbon is the base of organic life and coal

For all we know precious jewels are at the pole
Where there is a mindful heart filled creature
that when it cools is left with a sub zero soul

With such dim light, it would be like a hole
where no eyes receive surprises of such pleasure
Carbon is the base of organic life and coal

With no life or a fossil fuel to burn for a glow
Each ray of light is a treasure to a creature
that when it cools is left with a sub zero soul

Footprints far from the giving sun which makes us whole
Could be the doom of mankind with all its allure
Carbon is the base of organic life and coal
that when it cools is left with a sub zero soul

    Frigid Homes

I'm so tired of housing grief; my fingertips
grant no more wishes, I've pointed them at the
heavens for too long in hopes I could catch a
spark. No more will I be an igloo for arctic
thoughts, harming fragile bones and enclosing
hungry hearts. I will face tomorrow
though despair is a constant force that I clash
    against.

I will react to all the seasons of life instead of
sheltering myself from their disputes. I will push
forward instead of shutting myself out...
burying my life two thousand meters below
    desperate.

    Scalding eyelids

I met you when church doors yawned
and heavy rains wailed at the tragedy
we would ignite. Your flames quenched
my eyes - suddenly, I was on solid ground
instead of slipping into the loneliness that
Hell provokes in its endless caverns.
    Throat pinched, I couldn't deposit
    my words into the stratosphere...
you're imprinted on me, and I still
wonder if your residue is poison.

(Will I be blinded by your presence?)

    Torrid Joints

Can't sit still in these stupid desks
    cramped in classes kept closeted
while Spring shares secrets of sacred
    assembly where creatures dance sublime.

    Hormonal secretions inflame my joints
stoke the fires of desire to move
    confound the doldrums of Winter
entrance the soul - castanets of bone.
