Unless people are using gold toilet paper to wipe their butts, they are no better than you.

    2. What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do?

I wish I knew how to sculpt things out of glass. That would be a beautiful accomplishment.

    3. How are you at trying new foods?

I'm pretty good at it. However, if I am given something like sheep brains or something I find gross I am definitely not going to eat it. Mostly because just the thought that it will make me throw up.

    4. Where would you go on your dream vacation?

I would like to go to Ireland, like Britt. It has always been my dream. I wouldn't mind going to any place in Europe. I have always wanted to visit those countries.

    5. What is your most memorable gift you have received?

The most memorable would probably be a little children's book that I received from my grandma when I was a little girl. It has a message that she wrote in it, and it has a tendency to make me cry every time I read it (I still have it and I pull it out from time to time).

    6. If you could donate a large amount of money to a charity, which would it be and why?

Any charity that helps people really. I don't know a lot of charities, but if their intentions are noble then I probably wouldn't mind giving to them.

I don't exactly know. I wouldn't mind being around an age where I am not seen as totally responsible for everything that happens in my life. 20 seems like a pretty good age; maybe the age I am now. I just don't want to be doing what I am doing right now forever (it is quite stressful :[)

    9. What job did you dream, of doing when you were younger?

I dreamt of being an artist.

    10. What is the one kitchen utensil you could not live without??

    1. Tell us one piece of advice you have been given that still sticks with you today.

Advice comes in many forms. I find that I learn a lot when I hang around my dad. He's always passing off simple wisdom by being himself and speaking in his own eloquent, thoughtful way.

"We're all assholes; we just have different ways of expressing it." - my dad
Reminds me to not judge too harshly because we're all lacking or flawed. I overheard my dad telling my sister this about her recent ex boyfriend, and I thought it was an underrated piece of food for thought.

"You can cut a branch down, but you can't put it back." - my dad
He said this to me when we were rebuilding my childhood treehouse about 6 years ago. To me, it means to carefully consider the long term impact of my actions/words. Think before doing/speaking.

"If you want friends, learn to listen." - my dad
My dad told me this when I was a young girl and it shaped my approach to building friendships and bonding with new people. Everyone loves a good listener.

"It doesn't matter how small or menial the job, take pride in your work." - my dad
You will never regret doing your best- doesn't matter what it is. My dad is the most accomplished and well respected person I have ever met. He doesn't start something without finishing it, and he doesn't finish something without putting all of his heart into it.

So yeah, my dad is my hero :)

    2. What is the one thing you wish you knew how to do?

    Speak a foreign language fluently.

    3. How are you at trying new foods?

Awesome, but I have reservations about eating bugs/insects.

    4. Where would you go on your dream vacation?

    Everywhere. Maybe Cape Town next.

    5. What is your most memorable gift you have received?

I usually love a heartfelt card more than any present, but for the sake of this survey: My guitar. My dad started teaching me to play before I moved to Australia for 6 months. My last night at home, we played and sang "D'artagnan's Theme" by Citizen Cope together and it made for a great, lasting memory. When I returned home, my dad took me to pick out my own guitar. We were in Guitar Center for hours trying out every guitar, but nothing felt right. We finally gave up and were on our way out when I saw a black Abita hanging high on the wall, partially hidden. I stopped in my tracks and said, "that's the one." It was! Awesome instrument.

    6. If you could donate a large amount of money to a charity, which would it be and why?

Something to do with the wellbeing of animals.

    7. What makes you feel beautiful?

Being in nature. Sunshine, plenty of sleep, good health, clear skin, and freshly washed hair. Also, dresses.

    8. If you could stay one age forever, what age would it be and why?

    25. Old enough to do everything worthwhile.

    9. What job did you dream of doing when you were younger?

Wanted to be a large animal veterinarian. Still do. Maybe after 20 years of criminal psychology, I'll change career paths.

    10. What is the one kitchen utensil you could not live without??

Hmm, is a saucepan a kitchen utensil?

  • silvershoes

3 of us listed a guitar as the best gift we have been given :) 2 of us were given our guitars from our fathers.

2 people wish they had learned to play piano. Shoot, count me in on that, so 3 people.

2 people want to go to Russia -- I think you guys are crazy, but you should totally do it. My cousin learned Russian fluently, moved to Russia, and is now getting married to a Russian gal. Must be something special over there.

2 people want to go to Ireland. Ireland is wonderful, but I have to admit... I loved the wild, rugged land of Scotland more.

Karla, I totally sympathize with your sentiment about giving yourself to charity rather than money.

2 people mentioned wanting to stay children forever. There's definitely a part of me that wants that too, but there's also something magical (ok, and horrifying) about growing up, overcoming adversities, and becoming independent. The whole process of figuring out who you are and embracing it!

Thanks for this survey. I liked it a lot.

    What's his favorite drink?

  • silvershoes

I'd have to ask to be sure, but probably Maker's Mark. He's more often a beer drinker and has gotten into brewing these days. As an Irishman, he'd choose Jameson over Bushmills ;)

  • Larry Chamberlin

    Good on 'im!
    Jameson's the best.
Personally I prefer Jack Daniels over Makers Mark but no one can fault the latter - smooth & refined. I just like the bite.

As for beer, my tops are Guinness & Michelob Ultra, but anything wet is good, cold or not.
