Has the rule of...

...capitalising your poem titles and your sign in name being a no no on here changed or...is it still in place? I remember Jane kicking my ass for capitalising a poem title although it had to do with a contest Larry and I had hosted...I think it was called...BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE.

I just see a certain person freely capitalising everything and wonder...have the rules changed or have the mods become complacent???

    Good question Hellon,

At one point in time, it was enforced that all caps not be used. I do believe it is mentioned when you go to submit your poem as well.

Yes, here are the rules for posting your poem.

You must be the author of the poem.
No comment/vote requests in the title.
Do not submit poem in capital letters.
No violence. Erotic/profanity only in the
    category of explicit poetry.
Check your poem for spelling errors.
Save your poem before you submit it.
Violation of these guidelines can result
    in suspension of your account.

I send messages to people asking them to change often. It's hard to get everyone :(

Feel free to send me links or the authors profile. :)

Did I really go after you about that, Hellon4wheels? That made me laugh. Maybe I was trying to prove myself, who knows. There are bigger fish to fry.

I remember that I somehow had forgotten the rule when I won the weekly contest early in 2013

    http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/life/poems.php?id=1213481

I voluntarily changed the title to www.holy.net

    It's a weird rule, though.

I mean, formatting is a key aspect to poetry and poetic representation. Capitalization (even of the title) can change the mood of the piece.
I, personally, am still annoyed that I can't submit a poem entirely in lowercase. The site always auto-corrects the first word with a capital letter.

How am I supposed to write kickass poetry like ee cummings (who, by the way, didn't capitalize his name at all) if the site forces me to abandon a hallmark of his style?

    Ok, rant over.
    It's still a silly rule.

Technically speaking I read that a true haiku has no higher case letters

I think the actual body of the poem should be optional to the author of the poem...whether they choose to have all lower casing or to capitalise, but the rule of not having the title capitalised I have to agree with...it just screams at me for some reason and I refuse to read them to be honest. My poem was just a reiteration of the contest Larry and I ran and...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE became a sort of catch phrase for it. I didn't have a problem removing it at Jane' request...after having a little quirky shot at changing the word WAIT to W8. :)

Michael....haiku should always be written in lower casing but...the western world has yet to catch up on something so ancient!

    Bigger fish indeed

Bigger fish to fry...the definition of this saying:

Fig. to have other things to do; to have more important things to do. I can't take time for your problem. I have other fish to fry. I won't waste time on your question. I have bigger fish to fry.

Well...coming from not one but two mods I have to ask...isn't your responsibility to answer questions of all members on this site, regardless of how futile you think them to be?

No, Hellon. Not that we don't take you or your question seriously, but that during the past couple of years issues arose that pulled our attention from the capitals problem.

I was responding more to Jane than to you and reminiscing about what we've had to deal with over that time.

But you're right, there's a reason the rule was put into place and it needs to be enforced.

And..you normally reminisce with another mod on the main boards? Don't ever remember reading that???

    It's more meta-communing than verbal.

Oh...so what you don't manage to say in the mod room you meta-commune? Wow!!! puts a whole new spin on super-mod :)
