    Perfect Strangers

I wish we had stayed perfect strangers
with our hearts evolved to perfection,
we would have always seen the dangers.
of falling in love with reflections,
the illusion that's older than time.
In our minds strange images cast
    without essential reason or rhyme
    pursuing lust that never lasts
    searching for any forbidden fruit
to make us immortal as the gods
that the Greeks shared with mighty Romans.
Eros or Cupid put us at odds
as desires are blind to omens

    Lets Walk Through Hell Together

    Temptation burns fire,
    rebirthing phoenixes in
    purgatories home.

    Forever In My Mind

Delicate paw prints mark grieving hearts
desperate to find solace after crossing the
rainbow bridge. Silent body language echoes
sentiments towards sympathy filled souls. Puppy
love remains an empty shell of a former person,
lost without 'man's best friend'; we all know
    cancer is not ambiguous.

    Forever in my Mind:

Broken hearted butterflies swarm the faded sunset
as fallen angels fall from just outside Heaven's pearly gates.

"Jump from the Golden Gate Bridge
or throw yourself from the top
    of the Empire State Building.
    Don't worry, it'll be alright."

That's what they said to me until
you told me to run, to run from the
beautiful monsters, from all the worded
    shrapnel and their unbreakable spells.

    I was a walking skeleton,
    a mechanical squirrel and
    you were a prince -
a king living inside the castle.

    We were the perfect strangers,
keeping each other together within a broken world.

Until you introduced me to happiness
as we spoke over coffee and cream
    of wheat one Sunday afternoon.

    Fallen Angel

    From out my dreams,
    you came, and chased away
    the blackened edges
    of my weary heart
    with springtimes promise
    for a life renewed.
    In summers sun I gloried,
    as with wings unfurled
    you sheltered me
    from rays that sharp
    before had branded scars
    into my very soul.
But all too soon, I found
    your brightness fading
    into autumns tattered
drab, as unwilled in my need
    I leeched the very best
    you always had to give.
    Corrupted angel, by my hand
    you wilt and dim,
    where once you shone
    a beacon 'mid the
    dark despair of winters
    blackest night.

    Angelic Hearts Cannot be Grounded

    A wide ranging hunt continues
    inside this majestic castle
    to recover the perfect solution
    to an unbreakable spell
    that turned a fallen angel
    into a beautiful monster.

It was my own crime of passion
    to desire her for myself.
    Since I first glimpsed her,
    flying free and high above,
she's been forever on my mind.
I thought she was my destiny
but now she is my living hell.

    It seemed so appealingly simple:
    a sympathetic type of magic
    involving mature butterflies
    whose lives I did reverse
    turning them back to caterpillars;
distilled their essence into a mist,
released in her path to absorb.

Had I understood how loss of flight
    left those insects broken hearted
then her own misery could have
    been more clearly foreseen,
    perhaps avoided entirely,
before her feet crashed to earth.

    The disaster that ensued!
All my fault and my cross to bear.
The crazed hysteria that propels her
    from postern to battlement
    throwing good warriors aside
like straw dolls as she goes,
    then leaps outward, upward,
only to crash again in the barbican.

Such fair skin, hair as gold,
    eyes radiant as the moon
hands as fearful as a gorgon
and twice the anger to give them
    strength in her butchery.
Not a blade can reach her.

    Finally, I must do what only I can;
with a single feather I had found
    from years before, had treasured,
doted over daily as I watched her,
I dust wings of hundreds, nay,
    thousands of captive butterflies!

    Walking outside to the battlement
    I stand in her path, feather held out;
as she pulls me in to strangle me
I pierce her back with that dusty device
enraging her further, hearing my body
broken even before I feel it shatter.

As my vision dims I see her wings
grow out again - wondrous things!
She falls to her knees, feathers wrap
her round as in a protective cocoon,
    in moments they unfurl, beautiful,
in black, gold, silver and white.

She explodes upward to the clouds
an arrow shot from God's bow,
soars mightily for all to behold,
then halts in mid-flight looks down
at the carnage on the ground
and descends - touching each wound
each broken limb restoring them all.

At the end, she comes to me, hovers,
    pitying yet cold. She reaches to me;
I feel my body heal, but changed
in ways I could not expect
    and yet could not gainsay,
    as my shattered limbs retract
    absorbed by a body unshaped.

She raises me up into her hand
delicately places me upon a mulberry
and an unbearable hunger takes hold
for leaves to feed this worm body
in hopes that I might survive
and perhaps one day grow wings
that I earn for my self.

    Jump

    I used to... doubt.
But all you do is real before me.
    You are not invented;
    your soul rains on me
and I know when I think
    of you, it's not me
    hallucinating.

    You wash me away, then
    love me forward, into you,

    crashing

    then

    rising.

    Evergreen

    A godly love blossomed
    inside of you - dandelions
    and dirty pasts no longer
    stain us.

    We strive together in
    amber fields where we
    hold no compass but
    each other.

    God is everywhere,
    planted within our souls,
    paved between our days.
    He persists while we
    cherish
    renewal of
    life.
