Holy smokes, we had three VERY clear winners this week! Kakera & Linda stole the show with the bulk of the points, but never underestimate our sunshine - little Miss Nana swung in with enough points to allow her beauty to grace the front page as well!

    And the winners are!

    Your Mad Ballerina by Sunshine/Nana
    Lioness by Linda Leavers
This Was a Poem Before My Depression Killed It by Kakera

    Your Mad Ballerina by Sunshine:

This is a really cute piece that embodies the essence of love (or a muse) and poetry, it's effortlessly a beautiful and memorable piece. The word choice and flow of this poem seemed to be prose-like and seem like a muse-driven love note and it's wonderful. Beautiful! (7)

The title of this poem really had me thinking it would be something 100% different, so the content of the poem pleasantly surprised me. I could picture the end of the Black Swan, where the ballerina is furiously spinning and going overboard to counteract her emotions. You have so much placed into one little poem, so many emotions/feelings, ideas, visuals, and yet it is still so simple and amazing. Really beautifully done. (10)

This Was a Poem Before My Depression Killed It by Kakera

I am absolutely floored by this piece - it's loud, powerful and just raw in every sense of the word. The author brings light to their pain, and it's quite moving. I was left speechless after reading this piece. (10)

    ---

True, raw emotion this week by Kakera!
This is the deepest its going to get folks.. and that is what I love and admire so much about this poem.

Kakera makes a true statement within her poem and she elegantly writes how she feels in every line.

to be heard, for people to listen and be there.. You don't know another persons darkness, it's just best to listen and be there for support.

    Powerful poem this week!! (10)

    ---

It was quite hard this week to choose which ones would go in which order since each poem that I choose was powerful all on their own and no matter if they win or not they are still moving pieces of poetry.

This poem reveals so much about the poet that made it. It shows how to look inside that person and understand their situation, not a lot of people maybe, no one will understand what this poet has gone through or is going through this was a beautiful way to express what they have felt, how they lived, and how they keep on surviving. Truly enlightening and keep strong. (4)

    Lioness by Linda Leavers

This piece is both tragic and inspiring - it captured a beautiful moment of sympathy and the author painted it in a poetic way. It amazes me how vulnerable and uplifting this piece is simultaneously - and the author's note explaining the backstory behind this piece was unforeseen and pulled on my heart strings. (4)

    ---

Oh dear, how I start to describe this poem? It shows so much strength from the writer to have written such a moving piece, telling it from a first person perspective and pulling your heat right out of your chest. This particular piece is just inspirational since it shows that not everyone in this world is alone, that not everyone that has been kicked down to the point they have no self-esteem has no help because there is. There's so much strength in this poem I bow down and admire whoever has gone through themselves and survived! Beautiful poem! (7)

    ---

Very striking piece, I have been reading this and trying to figure out the relation between the writer and the main character, the poet penned her descriptive details very well and created an atmosphere that really drew the attention of the reader. Short elegant lines and words chosen carefully to emphasize every feeling. Successful lines by the end of the poem, making it memorable read.Well done indeed. (10)

    ---

"Overwhelming. There is no other word by which I can sum this poem up. The emotion is raw, heartbreaking, and just..overwhelming. I'm so glad the writer included the footnote -- it definitely added to the intensity of the poem, and the sweetness (from the other person extending this kind sentiment). Just beautiful. (4)

Unavoidable Rain (Diatelle) - 10 points

The form itself was just breathtaking! To be honest it could've been in free form and I would still have nominated this poem. It packs a punch in so little lines, taking you in a journey of cosmic proportions, the title itself is so bittersweet mayhap because I love rain or because it's; whatever the case may be I still adore this poem. This poet said that it was a fun poem to make I can assure I can't write anything like this! I just can't and with that being said this poem is just a masterpiece!

Unavoidable Rain (Diatelle) by "Meena Krish" 4 Points

A truthfully elegant poetry format by Meena, as usual the suitable theme for the suitable format with vocabularies flowing excellently to craft this beauty. Very catchy.

A nightmares fingertips. by Darren 7 Points

Interesting dark writing, the writer employed the metaphor excellently in many places, making the piece intense, resonant and very dynamic. The essence of the poem could refer to depression, frustration, boredom ... So much feelings expressed in perfect wording and last stanza was more than suitable as an end for such vent. Very enjoyable.

Days Without... by Poet On the Piano

So many different pieces of this poem I just love and want to highlight, but can't really, because it'd be the whole piece! The "who knows what words mean at 2:09am" is something, I believe, that every single person who has ever had a romantic relationship (or not in the end) can relate to, and that's why I was so captivated by this poem. I love how simply I could relate to it, with such ease. This poem is heartbreaking and effortless. Beautiful. (7)

Thank you for the kind words, judges, and congratulations to the other winners & HMs.

But above your kind words, thank you for *listening*. It relieves me greatly to see proof like this that there are people who still do listen, which is a lesson that we all need to remind ourselves of, to do more often. Because there is a lot of things that need to be heard out there, said by people who are screaming for someone to hear them in a sound-proof isolation cell. We are far too many who live in the dark places, and how we express compassion is something we constantly need to re-evaluate, because good intentions don't guarantee good results.
