#1
I.
Her soul lights the galaxies;
she teaches fire to the drifting
sun and faithless moon, dashing
out of corners of the world that
have been too neglected, untouched,
without a spark. She sleeps miracles,
realizing how graceful the human soul is.
II.
Her lungs - black holes,
tattoos of mythical lives
she fantasizes about, stories
that thrive then fade into the dark
smoke that always chokes her. She
crawls into nothingness, realizing
how weak the human body is.
III.
These two women live in separate
beds, in alternate universes. One
a constant leap ahead, one pushed
down by life's cruel tides.
They're not married, no, they're
two identities fighting for a voice -
light and dark attempting to love each
other despite the discord that can't always be
forgiven.

#2
Gravedigger
Breathe air in my lungs,
you're the only addiction
I will ever need.
Sentiments ripple
through ocean reflections when
waves crash on blue shores.
Hearts can break when you're
gone; death is ambiguous
when it fills a void.

#3
Hold My Hand And Bring Me To The Sun
Catch my heart before it plummets
from this lofty perch onto the
stony ground that lies beneath,
to shatter 'midst a million broken dreams.
Dry the tears which follow in its wake
to paint a salty trail down cheeks
no longer flushed with loves wild promise,
after hope of reconciliation fails.
Hold my hand as icy fingers trail
a hot tattoo of pain around my heart
when real life crashes in with sudden,
fierce all-consuming fury.
Soothe my soul when all I wish
is for a hole to open up and swallow
down the senseless desperation
for a love long lost but by myself denied.
Hide away the told you so's that
spout in painful bursts from lips
now eager to recall the painful truth,
that loss hurts even more the second time around.
Stay beside me as I gather up what's left
of pride and build a bonfire for the
tattered remnants of a life spent living in the past,
then turn me round and point me t'wards the sun.

#4
Eighteen and Counting
It seems I've spent years learning
to understand how to get it right
having been granted a chance
this second time around.
You make it hard sometimes
until I realize that I'm the one
making it harder than it needs
then the path is easier to amends.
