Yakz....I'm so impressed by this...OMG, how you have matured in the past few years...public speaking is something that I could never do and yet....you are still so young but showing so much confidence. Sure, you stumbled in a couple of places but...show me a groomed poly who hasn't in the past. I'm glad you are now feeling more confident in the skin you're in but sad that... thus far...no one on here has acknowledged it....I've been overseas these past weeks so please forgive me for not responding sooner....

I agree, this must have been a wonderful experience. I like how strong your voice is and that you moved around! So many people, especially your age, just stand in one stand, maybe shifting feet only, in a near monotone. You engage your audience with your style and your moving eye contact. I realize your emotions whelmed up a couple times, but you really used that to emphasize your content. Sometimes I wish you & my daughter Lauren could meet. You'd have a lot to talk about!

Hahahahahah well who knows Larry, I could always plan a trip in near future...

    :)

thank you for your feedback. I honestly didn't think this was as great and I could have done sooo much better if i had just rehearsed more. but its a learning process... hopefully in the future I'll make it to TED and do a really awesome one... he he

You stumbled but you picked yourself up, it's great to see you on stage like this, aware of who you are and what shaped you, and unashamedly sharing it with others. It takes a lot of courage.

You make a great point about language, I don't think I've ever heard anyone put it that way. My parents are immigrants in the Netherlands, my father is often misunderstood for being rude just because he does not speak the language that well, but he does not have the chance to explain either.

I also thought it interesting how you said that discrimination does not discriminate. It reminded me of how many people believe white people have no right to talk about racism because "they wouldn't know what it's like". But I believe people of colour who were/are victim of racism are just reacting that way because they have always deemed different, so they're distinguishing the way they're thought, if that makes sense. It's an ungoing circle of people reacting on each other's negativity and prejudice.

I hope you're doing well in the Netherlands till when are you staying and what are you studying? I couldn't resist taking a look at your blog. You're right, people aren't as warm-blooded, mostly uptight there. But if you're still the Yakari I know I believe you just bring your own party anywhere. :) We could've met up but unfortunately I'm studying in Australia at the moment haha.
