Interesting! When I asked this very question all those years ago I was told there was no way of tracing who voted for what and what rating was given out.

To all those who don't know the past and come with the smirk on your face cheering for Halloween jocks or... Internet bulling is a crime nowadays. It is even more painful than the real ones. And this bob did it to so many of us for so long. And there are always ignorant people who cheer for these people because they are charismatic and cool. They caused so many suicides while people like you cheered for them.
I could not speak English 10 years ago and they mocked me and laughed at me and then ganged on me and suspended my account on and on. and then laughed at me when I could not even answer. Even nights I did not sleep, or was mad to my bones but I survived. Now I stand to them tall and laugh at the bully and say that I survived!! . I learned the damn language, I went to university, and now I kick his ass to have a little taste of his own remedy. And now people like you ignorant of the past, with your mediocre smirk and your mediocre judgment can go and do, you know what. Regardless, no one was bullying you and if what you say is true above about you just learning English then more power to you. However I do believe a lot of things are lost in translations from what we mean to what you understand. A cultural boundary of sorts. Like my southern drawl and sayings are sometimes mistaken for ignorance, which surely would be the epitome of saying "Bless your heart" we mean well but it's also taken as an insult.

This thread started positively. It has continued pathetically and negatively. Everyone just stop and look at the accusations and language that's being thrown about at our fellow poets (and let's remember, that's why we're here)
As all are aware by now, I'm not really in to heated internet debates anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love debating, but I am mature enough to know that they always end up like this. And everyone can get red-faced and angry and upset (because people on this thread will be) and then enter the odd "isn't this fun " comment, but on the whole, we all know that's a lie.
If the site "buzzing" and being "active" - words that are constantly banded about on this thread - relies upon ADULTS being rude, insulting, upsetting and then downgrading each others' work, it is a sad site we are part of indeed. This isn't fun. This isn't any longer a debate. It's immature and pathetic. And I level that at everyone here - including myself, perhaps, for getting involve (I do see the irony).
Someone on this thread said "adults wouldn't get upset by what was being said here" or something of the like. No. Adults do get upset by these types of comments - whether you think they should or not - and it can have tragic consequences. It is the pathetic twitter culture of abuse that degrades our society and when joining a "poetry" site full of intelligent people, I thought would be lacking.
Debate - great. Have different opinions - fine. Even get heated with each other. But we all know here despite the "isn't this fun" comments, that, for many on this thread, it's gone far beyond that. All this thread has proven is that we have been unable to have any form of diplomatic, adult debate.
As above, I hate these kinds heated on-line confrontations - and no, I don't have to be here. But I was on this thread at its positive start and am saddened to see what it's become.
I'm aware I may be upsetting people - but no one specifically I hope - and if you feel you need to take a swipe at me after, that's fine too - I have a thick skin. But I feel, on balance, this is a fair post that, if we all think about, is probably right.

Why are you dragging me back into this stupidity, but to enlighten you, and ensure that. Didn't lie, you guys must be suffering from the same thing I am, memory loss, but if you recall a long time ago people were being warned and suspended for constantly down voting certain members, so the only way that could happen was if there was a record of it....I know for a fact Janis and his assistant had access to that information, I thought the head mod was privy to it also , but that may have been from contact with Janis I'm not sure about that...but yeah the voting records are archived, without a doubt, and sorry but I don't need to lie to any of you, about such frivolous garbage....it will be hard for anyone to respond to the knowledge of this because probably the only people who got that email for losing their voting privileges or being suspended for down voting are probably embarrassed about it, but I know that system at one time was in place because I received a lot of pms from disgruntled members, where are those pms , well like Hillary, deleted.....lol, have a good weekend

Ben, the accusation was made that someone was down voting someone's work, you can best believe those involved in the majority of this conversation are way above that, as a matter of fact if anything they up vote too much, because they too have respect for people's feelings and effort.....Speaking of what I know personally about Cindy , Anna, and Dixiedaisy, they don't take crap from no one, never did, but they are about as real as it gets, and kept this site running for awhile, as for me. I don't care who you are or anyone else, I tried to treat everyone the same, it even cost me some friendships along the way, but in the end we were all better for it.....the thread wasn't as bad as it could have been and has been back in the day.......at the end of the day, chalk it up as a history lesson, debates are great until someone feels slighted and they have to revert to name calling and ignorance

It is so sad to realize some people are forever stuck in rewind, it shows in their posts, it shows in their poetry.

I moved on, I no longer harbour any negative feelings to any of the members on here and if you cannot find it in yourself to do the same, then that is a shame, as to forgive is something that sets you free.

Hellon I didn't answer if Bob was lying because the answer wasn't a yes or no question lol. In my time as mod I never heard of or saw an archive. That could have been before my time, but I can't speak on that. And I don't think we have a head mod. We all have access to the extra power account. We're equals.

Bob, you're old so there may be some serious memory loss happening bwahaha. I don't think I was a mod when that stuff went down. I don't remember any of that. I'm sure Janis absolutely has record and can look at anything, but mods have no access to it. At least not now.

Almost everyone on this thread was around when that took place Britt, even you, but I think maybe only a handful ever got their voting restricted or suspended because of extreme down voting, I think the penalties went by the wayside after the huge thread in one of the forums about it, when people used to solicit their work and it was horrible, then they'd complain about being down voted...I do remember though, that there was a way to check who was doing what, where.......Maybe it was Janis and Danz or whatever his name was that was the assistant manager that moderated that, but I do know it existed......there was so much going on at that time with the chat room, the child predator, justplainme, and the constant need for lay counseling in the sadness forum with the cutting and suicide problems, not to mention the many challenges between the groups, now those were the best.

^and many times it actually was those they thought openly loved them, man how true........but we all love the blame game, that's why the truth is so shocking.

I remember one time they picked three of the worst poems written and they ended up on the front page, I commented constructively on all three and gave them all a 3 for effort only, and man, you have no idea what nastiness can spew from some peoples mouths when you don't like their work or are critical of it, no matter how constructive you are......it would make any thread in the forums seem like church music.....

And still, even with all that, we look back at those days with a certain amount of fondness.

I think I recall another mod claim to notify the authorities and alleged a child predator was caught . I believe skepticism from the average member is because we never seen the due process required to overturn the presumption of innocence . Having said that I recall a mod that defended his screen name with vigor. The banning and suspensions on this site are best not speculated on because of a wide range left to the discretion of any appointed moderator

I seriously don't remember that. I wasn't a mod during the chat days either. Maybe I was new and didn't pay attention.

I never called anyone or gave my number to but one mod or member and only ever saw one face to face that I registered here . You don't ....because behind the screen it could be anyone...that's why I'm so glad I got the opportunity to meet some of the members...and to have a long standing friendship with others who I talk with on the phone.
