    Ok....this can be as hard or as easy as you like. Learn a new word, be it in your own language...a foreign language or just plain colloquial. Post your word, its origin (or as close to) and meaning...

    Baltic..I know it's colloquial in Scotland but...yeah..obviously freezing cold and its origin well...guess away :)

    In Korean choob-dah means cold.

    Damh'an alla - Gaelic for spider: literally "black on the wall"

    My mom told me the story of the Bruce and the spider, in gaelic, and that is about the only word that stuck with me.
