Actually, I read through the whole thread this time and
I am beyond insulted by the deliberate ignorance and the
naive view of this tragic event!

Paris, France or should I say the "West" was attacked by a group of people, whom were brainwashed by the Voice
    Of Koran!!!!

    Stop dancing around the Truth!!!!

ISIS and everyone affiliated with will be killed!!!

I want to express my respect to :

Michael it says the page does not exist, have you got a keyword I can type in?

    I googled G20 + ISIS ...............Ssenevol
    putin

We've been very patient. For the last 12 hours we've been constantly refreshing Google News for just one -- one -- western article about Putin's bombshell comments at the G20 summit in Antalya. You would think that the Russian President stating publicly that ISIS is receiving money from 40 different countries, including G20 members, would be "newsworthy". Right?

But the western media has defied even our worst expectations: Not a single mainstream western outlet reported on Putin's comments. Typically, at least the Daily Beast has the common courtesy to distort or misrepresent the most recent Putin press conference. But in this instance, there is literally no written western record of Putin saying anything about who finances ISIS during the G20 summit in Turkey. This is insane.

I don't think anyone on this website really knows what is going on. Doesn't really matter what news show you watch or paper you read, hell even if you know someone on the ground in Syria you can't really claim to have an overview of this situation which is beyond question.

We all get our information 2nd hand, at best and everyone has an agenda. The best you can be is roughly informed of what is being said. Anyone who claims they "know" what the truth is probably doesn't.

There is of course a huge difference between conspiracy and plain stupidity

The problem with conspiracy theories is that they ascribe far too much coordinated intelligence to governments torn by discord and fractured into disparate groups each of whom have their own agendas to claim power.

Until now, I have been just reading comments. I didn't comment because of two reasons. One, I knew it was going to start a debate about Islam and terrorism, and two, I was waiting for someone to mention the other cities attacked at the same time.

    So, here goes:

First of all my thoughts go out to all cities, countries and people attacked, among which were Islamic countries and Muslims. (which was mentioned and I thank those who pointed that out). I am terribly sorry for what has been done in the name of my religion. That is NOT Islam, and ISIS are not Muslims. They are people who know how the world works, and how by attacking people in the name of Islam they can get what they want. By pulling people apart from each other, they create hate, by creating hate, they gain followers, and by gaining followers they can rule. We must not let that happen. Paris has already responded to that and innocent people in Syria are dying. Our goal here is to end war, not start it.

Someone mentioned something about the reform of the Quran. As a Muslim I say that it is very difficult to do that, that is something that shouldn't be done, because we believe the quran is unchangeable. It came from god and any reform should be from there (don't get into a debate with me over this, I respect your opinion, but that is our belief). ISIS doesn't use the quran like the other terrorists did, they actually want to change it and change many Islamic rituals we have, like hajj (the pilgrimage to Mekka) and they have changed many of the rulings of Islam (like sex out of wedlock rules). They are the furthest away from Islam you could think of. They have their own "religion". As for the quran and people who use it for terrorism, they are taking the verses out of context. Even in the days of the prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H) he lived within a community with Christians, Jews and non-believers. He dealt peacefully with them even when he was cast with stones and soiled with rubbish from some. He has the best behavior with all neighbors. As for jihad, it's definition is "To fight in the name of Islam all those who fight you first", and that is what is in the quran. We are not only forbidden to harm children, women and elderly in war, but we are even forbidden to harm plants and animals. Not only that, but we are also commanded not to harm any prisoners of war, and we are forbidden from "spoiling" the bodies of the dead. ISIS is so far from that. I know you've already discussed this, but just to add to everything.

So, back to the "reform" of Quran. The only reform possible without offending Muslims is the reform of interpretation. That has been done. I heard about it a couple of days ago. They are calling it the "New" Quran. However, I don't think even changing the whole quran will do anything. Terrorists will always find a way to "justify" their doings.

Now, to catch up with you. I don't believe in conspiracy theories. People who come up with them are paranoid, but they have a point. Many of the things that go on these days are not what they seem, especially when you live in the west. A while ago I saw this video on FB about the origin of ISIS, here it is:

    ^^^
Well what about in times of peace? are you allowed to harm then? ie Honour killings? Most are women...some are children. Nothing to do with any political group as I understand.

I could leave links to these horrific incidents but I don't think I need to remind people that this still goes on in muslim countries that are not at war

Dark secret, are you Sunni or orthodox?.......how many different sects are there?......because as many people who tend to group all Muslims together don't know, there are different sects, with different interpretations of the Quran......just like Americanized or organized religious sects....sheesh it's hard keeping up with all this stuff....but thanks for explaining the way of life as it should be...

  • Dark Secrets

Lol Bob! I'm Shia (Shiite in some spellings)

The basic sects are two; Sunni and Shia. Then, there are Sunni sects (4, including the one that doesn't belong to a sub-sect, 5) and I don't know how many Shia sects there are (I am what they call a twelver, Ithnay-Ashari, in Arabic, meaning I believe in 12 Imams as the khalifat - rulers/ messengers after the prophet). There are Shia sub-sects who believe in less than 12 Imams and there are Shia sub-sects that believe in a different descendant as an Imam. Yazidi's and Ismaili's are Shia.

and Yes Bob, you are right, there are different interpretations. Sunni's interpret the obvious meaning, what it looks like. Shia's interpret the hidden in addition to the obvious, we even go through the interpretation of the letter in the word and the harakat (markings) on the letters. Very complicated stuff. However, we mainly agree on the general interpretation. It's the who done what and why that we disagree on and some of the details. Like on this verse: "O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles." Part of AlMa'idah 6. We say that wipe means "wipe", clearly as it states, but because of the harakat (markings) Sunni's say it is wash not wipe, but we both agree on the fact that the head and feet are included when preforming abultion for our prayers. Same goes for the laws of jihad in quran.

Extremists use the quran out of context. Every account of jihad in the Quran is related to a certain event/ war, Sunni and Shia agree of that event/ war, but not all minor details. The reason for war/ jihad and who to target is part of what we agree on. Extremists used to be Wahabi's, who claim that jihad is a must to spread Islam and that it must be by force. They take the verses out of context, rage ignorant young Muslims, pay them money and order them to blow themselves up. Wahabi's claim to be Sunni, but they have absurd beliefs and always interpret things more than they are. Saudi rulers are Wahabi, and so are the extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. They even believe that Shia Muslims are not Muslim and need to be killed. ISIS, are even worse than Wahabi's. They even think Sunni Muslims are not Muslims.

Anyway, back to Hellon. Yes! Even in days without war, and to our own kind and kin. It happens because that's how Arab were before Islam and some confusion goes between culture/ tradition and Islam. For example; we are allowed to hit our children as punishment in Islam, but there are rules; one, the child must be between 7-14, we are allowed three strikes that do not cause a mark (even very simple redness that goes in seconds) and it is a last resort for bad behavior. If by any chance the parent strikes his child more than 3, or creates even the simplest redness than the parent must pay the child (it's called diya). So, it's very complicated. As for honor crimes, the prophet says: "There is no cure for lovers but marriage", meaning if two people love each other they should be married not killed/ punished. If anyone disobeys the laws of Islam, it is not our role to judge, because god is the judge, not us. Our role is to give advice, and whoever gives advice has done his role in correcting the behavior, even if the person does not take it. "Then they (his servants) are returned to Allah, their true lord. Unquestionably, his is the judgement, and he is the swiftest of accountants" Anaam; 62. After the age of 14, children are accountable for their actions in Islamic law. They are to choose their path, and we as parents/ a community are only their guide. Nothing else. Unless the case is about major crimes (killing, rape.. etc) we are only there to provide guidance. As for the punishments laid by Islamic law, they only apply if there are 4 objective witnesses, the person did not do what they did out of need, and if the person didn't repent for what they did (and we should take the word for it).

Many Muslims of course take matters more lightly when it comes to Islamic law, when in fact it is way more complicated than it seems.

Even with the 4 wives topic. A man who wishes to marry another woman/ take on a second wife, must be financially capable, must balance between wives in providing for them and their children and in the amount of attention, and must have a legitimate reason in a second marriage. The Quran states that men shouldn't marry a second wife because they will not be able to balance no matter how hard they tried.

Can you explain for us all what the Quran says about homosexuals?

  • Dark Secrets

We, as Muslims, are forbidden to be homosexuals. In the Quran it says that the people of the prophet "Lot" (I don't know the translation) were homosexuals and that god damned them (sent some kind of acid rain or something) for being that way. It says it is a sin and that it is something no one before "Lot's" people did. That is all it says, and it is there as a warning. Come to think of it I don't think there's a verse about punishing gays and lesbians other than that.

It is mentioned more than one time. Example: "And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Indeed, you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds. Indeed, you approach men and obstruct the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil." And the answer of his people was not but they said, "Bring us the punishment of Allah , if you should be of the truthful." Al-Ankabut ;28 ; 29. (approach men meaning sexually). Then verse 34: "Indeed, we will bring down on the people of this city punishment from the sky because they have been defiantly disobedient."

However, we, as Muslims, are not judge, we, can only give advice to that person. If they take it or don't is none of our buisness. Personally, I don't meddle into people's romantic lives, it's none of my business.

Edit: Just to add; Islamic rules/ law only applies to Muslims. Non-Muslims can commit any sin accountable to punishment and Muslims cannot do anything, by Islamic teachings and law. Example: Adultery is punishable by Islamic law (stoning), unless the person repents or is Non-Muslim.

  • Kevin

I really, really appreciate your honesty on this subject. I expected you to gloss over the truth or try to push an interpretation that was more liberal. This kind of open dialogue is exactly what we need right now around the world to bring clarity to the huge amount of misconceptions and Islam.

Do you ever worry that having a book that was written so long ago be protected from any kind of update might put Islam out of touch with modernity? I mean the best of modernity as in philosophy, science and evolution of ethics.

So when someone falls in love with someone who they are not permitted to marry because their family says so, although both parties are muslim who does judge them and decides they will be stoned to death? One instance happened at the beginning of this month in Afghanistan the girl's family had an arranged marriage in place but the girl loved another and they tried to run away but after being caught the girl was stoned to death and the boyfriend got three rather tame lashes so....who exactly judged them both and who decided on such an unequal punishment?

Hellon if you have twitter follow me @anonamiss59

I'm part of the ideology who identify ourselves as 'anonymous" our work is to raise awareness about global issues and in the past week we have already shut down over 20 000 ISIS twitter accounts and we shut down their whole system of communications for three days, one of our members was recently murdered by the Israeli riot police in what was a peaceful protest against the Isis agenda, our brother Tayyeb Shehadah ( a muslim) was simply raising awareness regarding the matter that Isis is a combined regime that was manufactured by the USA and Israel alike, however Israel is the real master mind behind it all. However, also bare in mind the fact that there is a more sinister power behind all of this, that power is the Rothchilds. Jacob Rothschild ( look him up) himself said that their plan is to take over the world and create a world where his his multi trillionaire family will profit from the suffering of the majority 99% of the global population's suffering and poverty. but don't just listen to a silly 19 year old girl, by all means do your research yourself, look up articles on 9-11 look up "sandy-hook bombing victim seen in paris, boston and aurora bombings" look up the video which slows down the only released video of the shootings in Paris that occurred after the bombings, you will see a video of a man being shot in the head but upon closer inspection, you will see that there is no blood splatter, you will not see any impact of the bullet hitting the man in the head, and if you look closely, you will see that after being "shot" the "victim" was on his self phone, which, for someone who was shot in the head is an odd action (at least that is what i as a amateur would perceive) but please, feel free to do research, feel free to follow me on twitter, I will also send you my facebook account name and you ca follow my posts and keep updated on the isis-anonymous pseudo-cyber war.

Not really, because I find all modernity in the Quran. Actually changing it would cause problems, because what I claim is made by a god that does not make mistakes is not changeable by a human who is can commit mistakes. Furthermore, the Quran has lots of modern information in it, info that scientists are now discovering. One is that there is a tiny being on top of a mosquito, and the fact that female mosquitoes are the ones that suck blood. This was mentioned in the Quran way before the discovery of the information. Also, in Al-Tareq (verses 1 and 2) the quran describes a piercing star that has a knocking sound, this was discovered recently and you can hear it here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggNeLYjNsnQ

There are many more scientific facts that have been mentioned in the Quran way before they were discovered. There are also scientific facts (we will call them hypothesis) that hasn't been proven yet; one of those is that there are 11 planets in our solar system and scientists are in the process of discovering other planets.

Outdated info, like stories of the past are there in the Quran as a warning or a lesson to us, and it says that in the Quran. History is meant to be learned from. As for the teachings of the Quran, they apply to any day, date and time, ask me and I could answer you of any teaching that you would consider outdated.
