OK...I'll give you all another chance to participate in my crappy threads/comps :)

If you had the chance to pull a Christmas cracker with another P&Q member who would you choose and why?

I'd choose Abby because she reminds me a little of myself but she has a brain to boot :)

    What's a Christmas cracker?

My choice is obviously Abby too. She is loving and a genius and she makes me feel good about myself. Love her.

Of course I also adore Sibby, Jordan, Kevin, Narph, Nicko, Noura, Mo, Britt, Larry, Andrea... You (Hellon)... Oh god, I'm probably forgetting so many!

There are a surprising number of great people on this site.

I love Chistmas crackers. The cheap ones for their cheesy gags and the expensive ones for the nice gifts.

I like the paper hats and the smokey sulpherous smell of the 'snap'

Okay, who to pull my cracker with. Sounds a bit naughty no? Lol

I would pull my cracker with Noor who really needs a friend right now. I would give Ben my pink paper hat and Ingrid the plastic ring. As for the joke:

    What's the difference between
    Snow men and Snow women?

    Answer: Snow balls.

Yes, I would love to have my cracker pulled by a number of fine wome....people on this site, but Michael, Ingrid, and Peter are right up there along with a few other friendly and supportive members on this site: Meena, Andrea, Dagmar, Noor, etc.
    All the very best,
    Ben

Gosh some people can turn anything into something ''naughty''... that's why I had to be extra careful with our study groups in uni
I would start explaining something and suddenly all the boys would go into giggle mode (the girls don't really understand it until after the boys)

Anyways... I would share my christmas cracker with Nana... she's lively and spontanious... it just suits her

Ok, after Googling it I find that it is custom for an entire table to pull their crackers at once. You hold your own cracker in your right hand and pull your neighbors cracker with your left hand. (Sorry, Zarha, it just comes out that way.)

So, I'd have all of you at my table to pull each other's cracker. I'd want Jane to pull my cracker and I'd pull Rania's. (Rosaura if you ever read this thread of corse I'd want to pull your cracker and vice versa, but the party is for regulars.)

What do you get if you cross Santa with a duck?

    A Christmas Quacker!

Never heard of pulling Christmas crackers, thanks for the explanation Larry.

I am not coordinated but would like to pull crackers with Anna and Cindy. Though the idea of sitting at a table with any of you would be a delight.

Cracker as in fire cracker would have been after assuming Christmas Crackers where something that goes good with cheese or that you crack Christmas nuts with (we had nuts at Christmas more so than another other celebration in the States lol Larry gave me the idea to google it

I think you guys should all order them on line for next Christmas...we would NEVER have Christmas lunch/dinner without them...as Michael said, the corny jokes, the paper hats and the cheap plastic toys are a must in the UK and here in Australia. I still can't believe so many of you have been missing out!!!

Definitely going to order some. This has sparked an interest with me.

I just ordered some 2 day shipping they will be here by Christmas eve.

An explanation on website gave better insight to me.
It's basically a wrapped tube with a paper crown, a small gift, a joke and the pop you get while pulling. It basically works like pulling a wishbone. Whomever gets the biggest piece keeps the prizes. Each plate gets a cracker and it's normally pulled as after dinner.

I will be taking them to my sister's for our gathering. I am excited about this. Thank y'all for this interesting idea to learn new culture.

I looked at them online too, but it'll have to wait until next year. I'm very broke after Christmas shopping.

Fools. You don't just pull crackers with people you like. You pull crackers with people who are weak. Otherwise no present for you. I like to choose the elderly and small children, which also makes me look like a nice person.

Hellon, I'd love to pull your cracker as well. Larry next. Whoever is more arthritic.

    Merry Christmas.

Great idea, Abby. Looks like everything is commonly available in the USA except the snaps. They may be tricky.

I had never heard of a Christmas Cracker before reading this post, even though my husband is British. And even stranger, while working Christmas Day, one of the patients family members brought in the crackers. Had a nice discussion about the custom. To my surprise they left a nice Christmas Cracker in my mailbox at work which I Pulled with Barry last night! Fun!
