As Larry pointed out to me, 3 moderators won this week. It's a conspiracy!??!!
I'm honored to be on the front page with talent like Meena and Larry. I wrote and posted 'All I Want' without expecting to be noticed, and nearly took it down after a few hours once tears dried. This is a supportive community and I feel my poem was voted on because PnQ is filled with empathetic hearts. I appreciate that, as well as each thoughtful comment. Thank you.
    Enough about me.

    Wonderful poetry. Wonderful people.
Thank you for all your hard work yet again, judges.

    Love,
    Jane

"What an absolute jewel this was, riveting from beginning to end, the most precious things sometimes have the most dangerous mines or minds however you want to read this, enthralling........great job Meena." (10)

"This poem is so beautiful. Even though it is about the death of the prey. The rhyme and flow are spot on. The metaphors are awesome. Which creates the entire piece of beauty. As I read this piece it drew me in from beginning to end. The pictures created for the minds eye are great. Wonderful write Meena." (10)

    -

"This poem is elegant and magical!

Beautiful nature poem by Meena this week!
I was blown away with its magical and elegant flow.

To make a spider and her web enchanting is not an easy task to undertake.

    Just a breathtaking piece!" (10)

    -

"From the title to every exquisite detail of this beautifully crafted poem I have enjoyed it to the nth.
My favorite genre is Nature and it thrills me when someone writes a carefully detailed poem about it. You have woven (pun intended) the most delightful poem about my greatest fear. I detest spiders in every shape, size and color, but, I loved this poem so much. Several years ago I had a small web that formed every day around sundown. I was intrigued by the beauty and my fear. This spider chose my front porch for sustenance and possibly the rest of her life. (It is a her because I deemed it so). Your poem brought to mind that memory and made me think of the little delicate spider and I smiled more than I cringed." (10)

    All I Want
    by Silvershoes
    Total: 21

"A sad piece, it's really powerful, although I cannot relate to the pain of losing a pet or a loved one, I still felt the author's sorrow, and it's heartbreaking. This piece just pulls on every one of your heartstrings." (7)

    -

"Many can relate to the loss of a pet, but none can understand the "individual" pain and suffering or the depressing effects it has. This was etched in pain and remembrance of a dearly lost love......heartbreaking, gut wrenching and the expression of such was nicely done, I shed a tear for Milo's owner.......great Job Silvershoes." (7)

    -

"To have a furbchild pass on is devastating, this poem was very touching and had me in tears.

Heart gripping and very touching, a powerful and well written poem by Jane this week!" (7)

    Where Did You Go?
    by Larry Chamberlin, The Godfather
    Total: 19

"I have always hated the phrase, "God's will" at the loss of a loved one, especially when they are taken early or young, it tears at the very fabric of me when a child, loved one or the foundation of the family "leaves" suddenly...the last three stanzas of this were so powerful it hurt, and brought back a lot of memories of my own thoughts of losing a loved one, I thank you, because it also made me recall her life and the pleasant memories........terrific write Larry." (4)

    -

"The sadness of this poem and the heart staking pain that a parent of a loved one can feel at such a moment is touched by true measure in this poem... very powerful!" (4)

    -

"It is a desperate situation when we realize depression has overtaken someone we love. We often blame ourselves for not seeing the warning signs. I believe that if we are too close to the situation it's kind of hard to see because we on blinders. Thinking they will come to us and that our hug or words of encouragement are enough to sustain them through a difficult mental process. This poem makes me think that it is written for a spouse, because of the wording. It seems as though it definitely was an intimate relationship and the male feels like he is no longer protector. Also the first sentence in the stanza below reminds me of a line from classic wedding vows, 'what God has put together, let no man put asunder.'

    'What has God wrought
    for this mortal sufferer
    that he deems her loss
    part of life's goodness?'

The closing stanza had so much ummphhh to it with the closing line. So be it that sometimes we have done all we can do to a fault that the depression acts as a virus, infecting all who loves her. Makes life unbearable to see someone hurt with this amount of pain.
I wish I could explain in greater detail why this poem hits so close to home." (7)

    -

"Larry has penned a heartbreaker with this piece. The heart aches and the tears fall as I read this poem. So much sadness is contained within.

    Where did you go,
    that you could not find
    your way out and live
in the sunlight of my love?

    ^^^^

The first stanza with it's question of holding out your love for someone, yet they don't see it is gut wreching.

    Why did I not know
    you were in such pain
    that you could not even
    touch my hand for strength?

    ^^^^

Then this stanza where the writer is questioning himself. Depression is funny. You seem to shut out the people who love you the most. Not answering phones. Not answering doors. Shutting yourself away from everything and everyone. Not doing anything you enjoy. You can't blame yourself for not seeing this. What a wonderful job you did on this piece. It drags the reader into the depths of your sadness. Your words hitting right in the heart. Nice one Larry." (4)

    Dead Winter
    By Maple tree
    Total: 4

"Week after week I find myself drawn to your poetry and it is usually on my list of favorites for judging. I beg of you madam, please quit writing such phenomenal poetry, people will really begin to talk. Mehhh, let them talk at will. It is no less the greater if they do or don't talk. With that being said and to the seriousness of this poem, it is chilling, dark and even mysterious. This so much more than just a "winter blues" type of poem. It encompasses an undertone of mental anguish caused by a chosen life path. Much enjoyed!!" (4)

"This piece flows so well, but at the same time feels 'abrupt' in the sense that each stanza doesn't depend on the previous one, and can stand on its own weight as an independent poem itself, it's a testament to the author's skill." (10)

"Dixie once again has awakened that inner child in my mind. How many times I begged my mom for something saying I would do chores for it. This piece brings back so many memories. How true every stanza she has penned fits to so many other childhood memories for many others. If we could just go back to those times. Would we cherish them more? I hope I would. Thank you Dixie for another look back in time." (7)

"I found this piece to be well-written, the use of alliteration was welcomed as it was unexpected and executed quite well. This piece is rich in imagery and that just adds to the narrative of this piece, a truly vivid write!" (4)

It's a conspiracy I tell you, has to be, no way can three moderators run this site and have the time to write such terrific pieces, I'm writing to my congressman about this.....I'm checking the hanging chads as we speak now.....then I'm interviewing the judges, and putting a call into langley and the justice system, if nothing works, then I'm contacting the NAACP, and legal aid because it's unfair to the rest of us for others to have this much talent.....damn I love a good conspiracy.
