Thoughts and prayers for Aleppo

ISIS has been bombing the Syrian city, Aleppo, for the last few days. Thousands of victims and the city is destroyed. I have a few friends there and I don't know anything about them.

I don't think my prayers or my posts or my words are going to change anything but that's honestly the only thing I can do. All I can do is tell you, people living in the other side of the world, about this. It seems the media didn't reveal this news to you.

Noura, I did hear about this... I don't have words. I've stopped commenting on war, death, and terrorism lately. It's too heartbreaking and difficult for me to fathom. Endless. It feels like the cruelty in this world is endless.

I hope with all my heart your friends are safe. Beginning to think none of us are safe.

    Noura

My thoughts are there and with your friends, of course. This really is another terrible tragedy.
Not to diminish the dreadfulness of the Paris and Belgium attacks, but it strikes me as sickeningly odd that attacks in the west get so much more press coverage....it's almost like we're more important.
Anyway, I don't mean to digress; it really is another sickening chapter in ISIS' story.

Another sickening tale unfolds, why can't we all just get on!!

I didn't hear about this either until you posted about it, Noura. It hurts and I'm ashamed there was no media coverage over here (or maybe a little I just didn't know). It seems so hard to put into words how deeply we desire peace. How our hearts ache for those we don't even know are affected until the aftermath.

    Thoughts and prayers always <3

Noura, I've been reading about it, including the Hospital that appeared to be purposefully targeted. Those who did this have no name! May they fail quickly and miserably.

Finally found some news on this Noura

and they are blaming Assad not ISIS.

    More brainwashing methinks

Wouldn't it be great to find a news channel not intent on force feeding us news for their own political aim.

220 killed, not a flag status change in sight on facebook.

  • nouriguess

220? Maybe that's the number of the victims for TODAY. ISIS has been attacking Aleppo since last Monday.

I don't know what to say. I'm sick to my stomach. My country is being destroyed, my people are being mercilessly killed and I'm just unable to do anything about it.

Bashar is watching ISIS in silence. He isn't doing anything to stop the attacks. We're being sold to ISIS.

I have highlighted this on my facebook page, us pnqers are your western media.

Just a shame we are faced with a wall of silence this end of the globe.

I should post it to mine too. Good idea.

Noura, my heart breaks over and over for you. And for Syria. I wish there was something meaningful I could do, so can't imagine how helpless you must feel living right in the middle of it all. The best I can offer is if you can make it to the United States, I will happily take you in and you can live with me until you get on your feet. I don't know how stupid that sounds... I'm sorry. I love you.

I talked to my parents and my mom has a friend who is fairly high up in the NSA. Would you like us to ask her about getting you here? I know there are a lot of loopholes. I don't know if you still want to leave Syria, or if you would consider moving to the United States, but I am serious about being your sponsor or doing anything in my power to help get you here. If I can write a letter recommending you (and if others on this site can too), it might help. And if it becomes relevant, we can talk about paying for your flight. Maybe a gofundme page.
Think about it. You can of course message me if you don't want the whole site involved, but I thought I'd post here first so everyone can brainstorm.

Noura you know I love you and your heart so much. Continually praying. Thank you so much for telling us about these things - it's sick that we're being lied to. In the age of the internet, they can't control everything. Makes me think about the propaganda from ages ago. :(

I pray for everyone involved. I am sorry this is happening to you noura. I wish we could all be at peace. I don't even know what that is anymore.....

Its so hard for me to put down in words what i feel about all this. I'm saddened beyond words. such a beautiful country full of heritage now destroyed, death and destruction for what ??? over one mans insatiable hunger for power to cause the death of thousands and thousands the displacement of millions to what end.

The world is full of mayhem we are truly a F#@ked up species !

People often forget that the number 1 victim of ISIS and Islamism in general are other Muslims. The attack in Paris was horrible but it pales in comparision to what is happening in many parts of the world to Muslims.

My prayers and thoughts go to all the Syrians.

It actually disgusts me how the media hides the truth of the world, I saw an aarticle where someone was watching the news, they took a photo of it, the headline was beyonce and her big star issues regarding her new album, and in tiny writing it states how hundreds of Syrians have been killed in bombings, how the hell does this world revolve if a celebrities album is more important than people being murdered for oil? This is why I try to avoid the propoganda of tv and radio

I'm really glad (and honestly a bit surprised) that Aleppo got some of the attention it deserves, finally. People are saying there will be a truce soon.

Donating blood and sharing the news are the only things I was able to do. Others were far more helpful. All Syrians stood together in this. It gave me some hope.

PnQers, I'm overwhelmed to be surrounded by caring people like you. <3
I'm certainly still determined to leave. Maybe next year after I graduate and can start applying for master degree scholarships. And it sure helps knowing so many people from different countries.
I appreciate your offers and support. I love you all.

I hope things do start looking up for everyone.

What frustrates me more is that when things happen in other countries than the middle east people jump on bandwagon like France and changing their Facebook to have the flag on... Does it no matter than innocent people are being killed say in and day out elsewhere?

We should all stick together more.

Noura, is this a decent site to read updates about Aleppo? http://zeenews.india.com/tags/aleppo.html

  • nouriguess

Wow, I don't think so. They're blaming the regime? The rebel-held areas weren't bombed; the truce was violated by the anti-assad rebels.

No attacks on Aleppo today. Nobody knows what's going on or which city they will destroy next. But we're all hoping for another truce.
