Do long distance relationships last?

Do long distance relationships last? I have a friend who is dating someone from new york and she lives here in oregon. Will it last?

yes, if you love the person and are willing to compromise sometimes, there has to be a REAL connection and lots of chemistry or it won't work...

Depends how willing the two people are. If they will sacrifice anything for love. My long distant relationship didn't work, and I only moved an hour away, go figure.

I don't think so not for very long. It all depends on the situation I guess. I know someone that is in that kind of relationship now and he cheats on her whenever he gets the chance. He says he loves her but he cheats out of loneliness. I think it would be hard to do.

ALthough they may in fact care for one another, long distance realtionships are alot of work. Relationships in the SAME CITY our very very hard, when two people are having a long distance relationship it takes alot of work, patience, trust, and understanding. if the two are perpared for all that resonsiblity then maybe they will be able to make it work. Ive been in a long distance realtionship, and it didnt last.We were far to young, and not ready for all the work. Plus, you want to see your other half.

They can, but the fact is almost all long distance relationships fail.

Bottom line is this: The human brain and body is not designed to sit and wait while their biological clock goes tickety tock and plenty of potential mates walk by. It is not natural on a basic primitive level.

That said if all teenagers had long distance relationships we wouldn't have so many prevalent STDs and pregancies.

Depends on the kind of person you are, and of the guy/girl you are dating...
Right now im in a long distance relation ship, and today it will be 7 mounths we are together...so, yes, they can last...

o.O gee i have to make mine last for 2 years... believe it or not... am trying my best to hold it together... but i believe it's all worth it when 2 years past ... and yeah i think they can work out ... if both each other goals are to be together... then there pretty much nothing can break that bond... o.O james bond haha... well? u get the point..

I am in a long distance relationship, 6 months and we are doing great. Of course we miss each other, and it will be a long time before we can be together like we yearn to be, but he is worth it and I am secure with him.

Insecurity is the killer for most long distance relationships, but if there is trust and security on both parts you have a lot better odds.

It is not impossible for it to last, but highly improbable. It depends on the maturity level and dedication that the two people have independently and for one another.

my first love...he moved to new york for 3 months but moved back for me...which went to shit because he moved an hour away and HE gave up a month later...i was totally willing to only see him so often i wanted to be with him more then anything...but we were young also....it can i work i think...people just need the patience

From personal experience I can say if you both want it enough yes it can. It has for me.

If they love eachother and if they can take the pressue yes it can work.
