Turkish coup

What's the news in the Mid-East about the military coup today? Does it appear to be as organized and widespread as we are getting in the US news sources?

It is said that the military is trying to protect the "democracy" of Turkey. That the secular military believes that Erdogan had crossed the line in setting himself up for life. They note that moving from Prime Minister to the Presidency is just the first step before changing the power of that office.

    What do you all think?

While their claims are partially true - the man isn't famous for his keeping of human rights- I don't believe a coup is ever a tool of democracy nor can it be used to protect it since it violates it in the first place. As for your first question the media here in Egypt is still saying the coup was successful which isn't the case according to a Turkish friend of mine ( she told me it failed right before the media blackout ). Also the network has lots of videos showing police officers disarming army soldiers and the taking them in. The Turkish TV was back up and the Airport is announced to get back to work at 6 am tomorrow. That is all I know for now.

I'm so divided on this. I mean it's a coup for crying out loud, but then again Erdogan. Just hope no civilians get caught up in this mess.

Erdogan is a very dangerous leader, he is the Godfather of Muslim Brothers, someone who doesn't hesitate to protect his own benefit by any means. He offered asylum for most of the Libyan terrorists who were involved in the assassinations between 2013-2014 and fled from the country when Operation Dignity Started, we saw on TV some of these ugly faces in the demonstration supporting him, ironic huh!

I wish it was a successful coup.

Erdogan was protected by the people. His people's will was overpowering. The coup was, thanks God, unsuccessful.
