Okay so lately I seem to think a lot for the reason being that I often get bored a lot and when texting people gets boring I like to think when I walk outside in the night and this question popped up in me. I know that people tend to say that no it doesn't die you just have writer's block...but what if you never "recover" from it? |

I believe that poetry, or writing poetry, is a gift and a skill itself. Thus, just like any other talent, you need to practice and the more you practice, the more it flows naturally with you. |

I personally believe that poetry doesn't die but can manifest for some time like I had'writers block for a few years and I thought I'd never wrote again but he been going strong now for a few months now. |

My belief is that poetry never dies because to me poetry are written thoughts that either take the form of verse or prose. A diary entry is poetry. A message written as an email is poetry. A short story is poetry. A script is poetry. A book is poetry. An article is poetry. Anything written is poetry. Except that not everything that is written is of high quality. It requires skill and a lot of dedication from a writer to achieve a high quality of writing. And a Poet to me, is someone who manages to move the great majority of readers with their words. However, anyone can be a poet, yet not everyone is, even though, everyone can write poetry. |

It can and it usually does, but usually not until you write that "signature" piece. That one poem that defines you. You may still have the skill, but that one piece will ultimately be the end of the desire. It has happened to me, right after I wrote "you can't hurt me", I knew I was done. I tried convincing myself that I'd be able to write something better, even more comparable, but I was only lying to myself. |

It does not die but it can whither with abandonment. |

I don't think I have a signature piece that truly defines me. I would have to write one book of poetry like Dante ( just an example) and even still, it would not define me. But so far, I have a couple of pieces that I think may define a bit of myself. I'm a little bit of everything. |
