OMG if my area was more suitable for your needs without an hour commute, I'd totally bring you in!! Literally anywhere to the City is about an hour drive from the new house. You'd hate my town hahaha so tiny!

    Small towns are sweet...
i live in small town in the Netherlands, but its too over populated and i get constant anxiety attacks omg

...my whole life i thought i wanted to be seen and be a performer but now i have discovered that i want peace and want to be left alone so that i can create...

the goal is to be a backstage person that makes a lot of money...and no one knows about

being in nature far from "modern" society would do my soul so good...

in other news, Alysia's book "How much we must have looked like starts to the stars" got here and i cannot wait to start reading. its all material no one has read before so i'll share the bomb poems with all of ya'll <3

I live in Sparks (next to Reno), and if both of you want to feel surrounded by like-minded people, I would highly recommend the Bay Area of California. San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Albany, all the way down to San Jose.
You're both welcome to stay with us in Sparks, Nevada, though I'm not sure it's the safest place at the moment. Hopefully by the time you move.

Jane - I thought about cali, i always do, but im so scared i cant afford it there. Like, ive already been debating it i just am worried because i would be selling my belongings. if the offer stays open i might pm you one day about it. I do need a place to get me on my feet though and i would feel way to bad to move into your home while i patch my life up before i could even save $$ to have my own apartment...

I just hate feeling like a burden lol

  • silvershoes

You could never be a burden. My door is open.
EDIT: I should probably ask Kevin and his mom and figure out the logistics of this first. Oops. Regardless, if anyone needs a place to stay for 1-2 weeks while they get on their feet, I'm confident neither of them would say no.

My sister is in NYC, Yaki! Her place is tiny though and she pays a fortune to share it with one other person.
The Bay Area isn't much better, but it really depends... don't bother with SF or Berkeley because of rent prices. Oakland is not the scary place people have made it out to be :) Albany, Davis, San Jose, Santa Cruz, and Sacramento are some other progressive California towns/cities that come to mind.

Either of you could also rent the downstairs of my parents' house for cheap. They're in a little town called Piedmont right next to Oakland, 15 min from Berkeley in one direction and San Francisco in another direction. You'd have your own room, bathroom, and private entry, and there's a room with a pool table and freezer with 4 taps for home brewed beer in the level right beneath you ... it's awesome. Let me know. They're good people. They've rented to my friends before for very cheap.

Brooke, do you have a Facebook? I want to add you to Pantsuit Nation. It's an online community that has made me feel more hopeful and happy since joining :)

Reality check here guys!!..your president elect is due in court on fraudulent charges among other things and..he will be sworn in as a witness/defendant of these charges before his is sworn in as your president...how can you justify voting (and now it seems accepting) someone with such charges pending...I mean...this is the person you have chosen to run your country for the next four years....REALLY???

He's already reversed his idea of abolishing obamacare completely and has toned down his rhetoric considerably. My guess is - like everything else he says - it's all just hot air (offensive, yes, but hot air). Remember, Trump cannot make laws; they must be passed first and even with a Republican majority, most of them aren't as extreme as he is.
Take his two most controversial 'policies': THAT wall and THAT muslim idea (the one whereby certain muslims from certain places won't be allowed in any more), I'm willing to bet that during his term, not a one of those will be implemented.
The man's a buffoon and loves to rile hate and fear, but I still believe he is mostly bluster.

(fingers crossed anyway.) Yaki - good luck with all your dreams of study in America (You are always welcome in England - we only have Theresa May here, lol)

  • Darren

And doesn't Theresa May seem like an Angel compared to Trump.

The thing is, they are just figureheads. Its the people whispering in their ears that really run the country.

Yaki, my daughter Lauren is in Los Angeles working on the Hallmark Channel as a producer on a talk show. They are always hiring Assistant Producers if you're interested.

Hellon, before you condemn the entire United States bear in mind that Clinton won the popular vote (including mine). as for accepting him, we don't necessarily accept Trump so much as we accept the rule of law.

Finally, with as much trouble as they had controlling him in the campaign I doubt the ear whispering will do any better. Trump is no GWBush or R Reagan

Hey, I heard a bit more about the Portland protests. I don't know if any of this is true, but apparently it was a small group wreaking havoc the other day and the majority of the protestors were peaceful and nonviolent. Some of the protestors went back and cleaned the streets after the worst of it and people are encouraging each other to remain peaceful.

That doesn't change everything. Britt, the story about your friend's friend needs to be shared. 'It should've never happened' is an understatement.

So Hillary won the popular vote? Didn't seem to do her or you guys any good that I can see. As for condemning all Americans, I think the people who voted from Trump already did that without any help from me.

I was just asking why someone with a criminal history like his, together with more than seventy outstanding lawsuits would even be allowed to stand for presidency never mine be elected.

I don't think he would have enough credits to pass police clearance for a school janitor's job right now.

The electorial college is antiquated and should have been done away with a long time ago at least after the Bush/Gore fiasco, we no longer have just 13 colonies and therefore no bias by population, every corner of america has its big cities, rural and suburban area's. Trump is a disaster for this country, he will undoubtedly violate many rules and regulations in office, and has already stated that his children will run his businesses which presents a conflict of interest. But he doesn't scare me half as much as his self righteous religious zealot vice president pence. This man will go after Roe vs. Wade and the gay rights laws with everything he has. That you can rest assured is his agenda. Trump is incompetent and will have to surround himself with good people and so far that isn't looking good either. His motto "drain the swamp was a farce for him and his supporters, not only did they vote 97% of them back into office, but many of the long standing crooks are going to be in his cabinet. By the way, I live in the mountains, so far in the woods we have to pump sunlight, but we have two vacant rooms, it's a huge house and two young boys that will make you fall in love. It's available for anyone who needs a hand, no drugs and no alcohol, smoking outside is ok, and unfortunately no pets, my youngest is allergic to cats and dogs.....In any case good luck.

Unless something has changed the rape lawsuit against trump as been dropped.

    http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/donald-trump-rape-lawsuit-dropped-230770

Btw i believe the protests were set up.

  • Bob Shank

These protests are subtle compared to what would have happened had he lost, trust me. Which raises another question, how can men come on national tv and say they feel it's their duty to "take her out" if she wins the presidency. At the very least that is treason and terroristic threatening.

the rape case has been dropped, just as the brutal rape allegation made by a former wife had been dropped as well. The woman said she feared for her life. I don't know I wasn't there, but his own rhetoric makes him suspect of such things. He tried getting the evidence suppressed in the fraud U case, but he's not too bright, you don't piss a judge off and then ask him to help you out. In the end he'll settle, because if he gets found liable for racketeering and fraud, they have no choice but to impeach him. and that would be some funny stuff there. Hopefully we'll survive his clown ass, but I'm not feeling all these fools bullying minorities in school and riding around shouting out racial slurs, eventually someone's going to check their chin, and they won't be going home

I've had people stay before to get on their feet, I don't have much, but I'm not as horrible as people think I am, if I can't help my fellow man/woman.child then I would be as bad as some people think I am....lol.....It amazes me anymore how this world is, I was supporting Hillary and I posted in my town that I'd give any and all voters especially seniors and the handicapped rides to the polling booth, and people thought that was nice, it's actually our civic duty to take care of our elderly, and the people of our community. and why limit it there. I wish I could adopt some syrian kids......oh well.

For what it's worth, Bob, I'm over the past and I don't think you're horrible at all. No really, all I've seen in the last while is you're a good guy. It's okay if you hold anything against me past or present. I don't blame you. Not asking for anything here. Just publicly announcing appreciation.

This community has opened my eyes and changed me, even shaped me, more than I can describe in words. Then again, it is a poetry site, so I guess I should try. Maybe tomorrow. For now, all I'll say is all of you -anyone I've ever had an interaction with on this site- have contributed to making me better, and that's a damn fact. Can't imagine a world without PnQ.

  • Bob Shank

Poets, writers, and even those who aren't but are "critical thinkers", have their moments. Especially with each other. To disagree, and even to dislike is to grow, whether inwardly or outwardly. The images we present should never be mistaken for who we really are. I've known people who are openly nasty, arrogant and miserable to be the most kind-hearted individuals I've ever met, but they've been abused so much they wear their pain as a protective vest, and all this is vise-versa, wolves in sheep"s clothing. The only thing I've ever held against you back then is you, I felt that you were far too smart not to be at the point you are now. If that makes any sense. and that goes for a lot of people who take their abilities for granted. There are so many people in this world and even on this site that take their full potential for granted and it's killing humanity, maybe not that drastic yet, but it's getting there. This world belongs to the young, we've screwed it up bad enough, now it's their turn to save it. Anyhow, you're a very good individual and have far too much to offer for me or anyone else to ever paint you as anything different.
