    Hi Guys

with Hellon stuck out in the outback, in her Yute chasing flaming Galah's, I thought I would take it upon myself to start the next challenge.

    The Diamante

    http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/diamante.html

A formed poem that is like an extended Haiku.

I look forward to reading, I will post one myself soon

here is my Diamante (I'm still playing)

    Blink of an eye

    Life
    miraculous, hopeful,
    surviving, frustrating, yearning,
    celebrate, cry, sleep, peace
    dreaming, travelling, floating
    quiet, frozen
    death

    Great word choice.
I'll work on one for this week. (Still playing, too!)

That's great Darren and I like Larry's posted one too :-)
    Here's my attempt ...

    Rollercoaster

    Joy
    happy, content
    delighting, rejoicing, radiating
    glee, bliss, misery, wretched
    tormenting, agonising, depressing
    gloom, despair
    Sorrow.

Hi all, not sure if this correct...so please pull me up if not, hard to get ones head round for a while it must be said.

    Love the ones posted :)

    Good
    Moralistic virtuous
    Comforting satisfying honouring
    Ease welfare unfair wicked
    Wrongdoing sinning corrupting
    Iniquitous depraved
    Evil

  • Darren replied to Michael

    Nearly micheal
Morality, virtue, iniquity and depravity are nouns, lines 2 and 6 should be adjectives.
I was stuck on line 2 for a while with mine.
    you could change them to
    moralistic, virtuous, iniquitous and depraved.

  • Darren replied to Mr. Darcy

    same here MR D

    genesis and mankind are nouns
    growth and progress are nouns

    substitute (suggestion)
    Original, human

I will leave the next two to you,

  • Darren replied to Kitty Cat Lady

    Hi KCL

    just went back over yours

    gloom and despair are nouns

substitute for gloomy and despairing (although not sure about another 'ing' word after line 5)

Thanks, Darren. I'll grab my dictionary and beat some sence into my numb scull.

I've never done one of these and I've probably got it all wrong but here goes anyway...feel free to 'advise ' me haha!!

    Down under

    Australia
    vast, wilderness
    amazing, sprawling, outlying
    diverse, multicultural,dusty, dry
    rambling, fascinating, surprising
    red soil
    desert.

    attempt - take 2

    Creation
    divine human
    making modelling terraforming

    god given natural selection

    altering evolving enduring
    developed primordial
    Evolution

    Hi Hellon,

it looks like you fell, at least part way, into the same trap:

    wilderness and soil are nouns.

    Perhaps, try: unused - all-embracing

Also, I could have this wrong: line 7: Antonym/synonym for the subject.

  • Kitty Cat Lady replied to Darren

ah bugger! Thanks Darren ... I'll have another look at it :-)

Bah Michael...I knew I'd stuff it up somehow haha!!! Thanks for the corrections.

    Attempt #2

    Australia
    vast, barren
    amazing, sprawling, outlying
    diverse, multicultural, dusty, dry
    rambling, fascinating, surprising
    divergent, arid
    Quarbing.

*Question...I used desert first up because 70% of Australia is still actually desert, I thought about replacing it with outback but decided on Quarbing which is an Aboriginal word meaning a good place. I'm still not sure about it though (I still prefer desert I think) so..any suggestions? :) :)

  • Mr. Darcy replied to Hellon
6 years ago, updated 6 years ago

I love the word ' quarbing' though not sure if that qualifies as a synonym of 'Australia'
    I'd go for desert. :)
    Try this link: http://www.synonym.com/synonyms/australian

  • Hellon replied to Mr. Darcy

That link provides synonyms for Australians, not Australia. I've come to the conclusion now that there is no synonym for Australia...why didn't I check that out before I started this challenge? LMAO!!!

I found this whole 'experience' very disconcerting to be honest, having to check if a word was an adjective/synonym or something else that needed to fit the puzzle gave me the jitters and I will admit gave me little pleasure and, I'm still not sure if it's correct so, Darren...my upcoming migraine is all YOUR fault!!!

    Revenge for the Robdeau Hellon

I am still suffering from that episode

  • Mr. Darcy replied to Hellon

I thought the link would bring clarity. :)

    Very funny, Darren :p

    How about this acrostic version:

    organic
    real alive
    growing laughing dying
    apes evolved artificial intelligence
    navigating improving superceding
    intelligent robotic
    computer

  • Hellon replied to Mr. Darcy

    ^^^^

Now you're just showing off :) :) although..what exactly is an organic computer???

    LOL...Darren....so we're even now right???

  • Mr. Darcy replied to Hellon

    I think I watch too much sci-if?

The first and last words can be antonym or synonyms of each other.

  • Hellon replied to Mr. Darcy

On no...I love the idea...really I do :) but, what would it do exactly? Could you program it to grow mung beans and all that hippy type food or...did you mean it would be built from organic material? Either way is interesting...could you expand on it a little more, this organic computer???

Here is a link. To be honest I heard about this hybrid computer from Star Trek. In one of the starship, Voyager, I think. This starship has organic circuitry, this blend is superior to standard computer technology.

  • Hellon replied to Mr. Darcy

Now you've burst my bubble...I really wanted a computer that could spit out legumes and other healthy organic things haha!!

  • Mr. Darcy replied to Hellon

I'm. sure the techno geeks will manage it someday. Star Trek Voyager has a 'replicator' on board. They recycle everything and transform in into everything. In their mess room, they have a version that resembles a microwave. You simply tell it what food/ drink you would like and, hey presto, it materialises.

I'd like one of those, wouldn't you?

I knew there must be SOMETHING of value in the Star Trek movies haha!!!
