Fantastic Beasts (just for fun)

I just finished this little ditty and posted it to site.

Read it and my comments that follow.

If you guys fancy letting your inner child imagination run wild please do. I need to read some fantasy.

Post here over the next week and I will select my favorite 3 and nominate for the contest.

Apologies to those who are working on deeper things. As good as your work may be I think I need this little bit of fantastical self indulgence.

For those who run with this! Put do not nominate in block capitals below your poem and for Craigies fantasy thread in its tittle.

I look forward to seeing your amazing beasts. (Trust me I will visualise them in my head).

When I've selected my 3 I will make it known then all are welcome to nominate at will.

Don't know if it will work but hey let's create amazing animals and beasts and revisit that inner child

    Seven staring eyes
    Gazed hungrily at
    My thighs.
    Each one adorned
    With horns
    Of different kinds.

    With a grinning
    Yellow tooth that
    Dripped a tartan juice

    Its body slithered
    Like a snake
    My legs just wouldn't wake
    And still nearer
    And nearer it slid
    To me...

    Go away, I say
    Away from me,
    I pray, but no
    Eight tentacles
    Sprouted brains
    And spectacles

Each wore a pair of specs
Just one, no more or less
    Then the room shook.
    And there in a crook
    Of an arm, a book:
    The life and times of
    Huckleberry Finn.

    Oh, I said, I see,
    A book held out
    For me.
    And so we sat
    on mat
    reading it before
    Our tea.

    Camping in the wild
    I was but a child
    and the woods around
    gave many a sound
    that tantalized
    I fantasized ...

    Rhinotoads in the muck
    Elklions, doe and buck
    elder Bramburts under logs
    stalked by fearsome Spiderdogs
and all the monsters in the dark
    would flee from the Grizzlyshark.

    Alone in my tent
    so many nights spent
    hearing these critters
    how they gave me jitters
but it’s been so very long
it seems they have all gone.

This is fantastic. I think the spiderdog is my favorite so far. I can see it in my head very clearly.

Duh knew I would mess up somehow.

You'll need to post em on your own pages too for me to be able to nominate.

Typical me not thinking things through.

A blood curdling noise ices my veins
as I felt sharp fangs rip out my brains
I felt my spirit rise from my corpse
then looked down upon the evil Drauxe

Drauxe is a beast like I've never seen
with gnarled twisted limbs in mouldy green
Part panther, demon with massive jaw
Blood filled fangs so large they drag the floor

Puss oozes from pustules on his skin
a serpentine tongue flicks out and in
he rips my body from limb to limb
then sucks my insides deep into him

The devils beast he kills without need
just to watch an innocent soul bleed
He murders and tortures bloody kills
needless, destruction to get his thrills

A branch cracks loudly, someone is near
I can tell Drauxe smells their stench of fear
He moves silently towards his prey
One more soul will die again today

(Thought I would try really gory for a change :)
