New term - new judges!

Please let us have your support for the coming term. We already have one judge but need four more. DO NOT respond here. Contact a Mod or the Mod Account.

Also, it has been suggested that we go back to 3 month terms. When you PM a mod, let us know if you are willing to go the three month term.

Remember: we go with however many judges have volunteered, so if we have one judge he or she will cast all winning votes.

On the other hand, if you want to judge but have a week or so you cannot make it, we will sub-judge for you.

Don't like the way things have gone? - "Be the Change You Want to Happen"

FINALLY, you do not have to have Nominator or Senior status to be a judge. Each member is vetted by all of the mods on their merits.

All the best to the judges judging this week!

I haven’t read all the entries yet but the ones I’ve seen are pretty good.

    Still need three judges.

    Hi!

Friendly reminder, the site still needs those 3 more judges. We have two judges at the moment.

If no one else volunteers, these two will be the ONLY voters for the coming weekly contests. Less Hms, ofcourse.

Anyone who has time to judge and comment every weekend for this term, kindly come forward.

Anyone who has new ideas and suggestions to deal with the weekly contest, kindly raise your ideas and share them.

This is a great site and whilst there is no financial cost to being a member of the site there are unwritten obligations of fairness just as in real life.

Being a part of a community means everyone does their bit to pull together in a common goal and to help each other especially in times of need and so it is with P and Q.

Publishing poetry is the easy bit. Volunteering to be a judge is stepping up and giving the help that this community needs if the competitions are to continue. It's also an opportunity for your voice and opinion to be heard.

In assessing what it is you like and dislike about poems during the judging process also teaches you how to improve and build in your own skills so there are definite gains from judging.

We can't all be moderators and help by keeping the site safe and smoothly running but we can all do our bit and give back to the site by volunteering just one term a year as a judge.

If everyone volunteered themselves for one term every year we would have the judging covered.....

P and Q needs you. and your votes.....

Wish I could love your post, Milly. Well said.

    I’d like to add:
I believe every member on PnQ is qualified to judge for a term. Poets, all :)

    Well Said Milly!

IF EVERYONE VOLUNTEERED, you can make a difference and we don't have to put up
    with dramas and nit picking

^ there will still be drama and nitpicking because there’s people who live for that so we will have to put up with it. However, I do agree, each volunteer can make a difference.

Three judges will decide the contest this week.
We had a fourth but that judge dropped stating a desire not to be the center of drama.

The same here I was going to continue but drama turned me off too, after what happened to Hellon.

    Cute twist

Yes, it is cute Larry. A great thinker once said: Things occur as it were twice, the first time as tragedy, the second as comedy.

And a third time as we pretend they were

Firstly...I will point out that this thread has already gone slightly off topic so...

...let me just add something...my original post reached over 100 comments before it was closed (something that has not happened on this site for 10 months and that was a 'game thread' so I'm not sure if I should include that one?). Everyone who contributed to that thread added to the so called 'drama' that everyone seems to fear so much now so, please do not pin that one only on me, you are all guilty of stirring the drama pot...I was only the one asking that the judges look a little further from their usual picks and...IMHO, over the past few weeks I think it worked to some extent so, I'm happy with that outcome regardless of how members may look at me now.

As for the member who...'dropped stating a desire not to be the center of drama."

pish-posh...my guess is you were right in the centre of the first discussion so, find another excuse.

FOURTH: Or pretend they are not.
Like a direct attack against the freedom of speech.

  • Larry Chamberlin

Your accusation of suppression of freedom of speech is inaccurate.
I called out Hellon as to her posts and closed a thread that had reached 100 posts per the dictates of the owner.
I offered her the right to start another thread, which she did.
No attempt has been made to halt the second thread.

I agree too much thin skin around here.

Thin skin has allowed some of the best poetry to permeate through it, Larry. Don't be too judgemental of anyone. The intricacies of people and their lives are far too complex for you to do that over something as superficial as the internet. I cannot apologise for wanting an end to a waste of valuable time.

On topic: two judges are deciding this week's results.

As always, all the best judges. You got this!
