    Advent of Love

High as you are is the strength you owe:
the hand that reaches down to lift
those without ladder of connection or
gilded entitlement by low class bereft.

There is no zero-sum gain in charity
for every kind act creates a new seat
at the table, ever enlarging the feast
to give meaning to each selfless feat.

Yule is the season of awareness of love
    yet the empowering generosity must
guide us all the year round to claim
the human bond found to each in trust.

    Dear Santa (a dad's letter).

    Hey up Jolly fat bloke,
I trust you are doing well.
To work but one day a year
    Well that seems rather swell.

It's not that I am jealous,
    Well perhaps a tiny bit!
    But I'm a skinny fella,
And that suit it would not fit.

    I cannot grow a beard,
For the itch drives me insane.
And to have that sack upon my back
Well! that would cause me pain.

So no I do not envy you!
Although your job may be the best,
But I have something to ask of you
And I have to make requests.

If you would be so kind this year,
And if you have a care.
Stop crashing on my roof tiles,
And use the those things called stairs.

I wanted solar panels on my roof,
But I cannot get a grant.
Nine sets of hoves upon those tiles,
Sound like a heard of elephants.

I guess I sound ungrateful here,
But some damage you do cause.
You eat my food and drink my ale
And you do not stop to pause.

Please do not get me wrong,
For we all love you to bits.
But I spend each Christmas morning,
    Shoveling up your reindeers s#/t.

I don't mind all the mince pie crumbs,
Although you never stop at one,
But to drink my ale without me there?
    Come on dude! That's wrong!

Now this is the most important bit!

I really hope you hear my plea!

Land your sleigh upon the drive,

    And use the bloody key!

    FAKE SANTA'S BEWARE!

    I killed Santa Claus
    I killed Santa Claus
    Down on Boulevard Way
Shot him with my pistol - BANG!
    earlier this day

    He wasn't the man
    you thought he was
    Twas a villain in disguise
    He'd just robbed
    my Grandma dear
    Left her quivering with fear

So I made it my nights mission
    to get this evil Nick
    To stop him mugging others
I bashed him with my stick

Knocked him out and shot him
    this fiend is really dead
Make no mistake he was a fake
who lays dead in a pool of red

So take good cheer, now all is well
    Fake Santa's just be aware
    Deliver goods and goodly deeds
but misbehave now if you dare!

A Story of Christmas - Santa Claus

When Santa came to visit it,
the clouds up high begin to knit
a coat of snow for him to wear.
The Wind then held the coat with air
so Claus could walk the streets in it.

The people praised his spirit’s wit
with trees and lights so brightly lit.
They sung for him like every year
    when Santa came

The children wrote to him a bit
then left some goods for him to eat.
They went to bed with conscious clear
Not feeling bad not either fear
just eager for the gifts they’ll get
    when Santa came

    Holidays of Fear.

How many times can I write about the flurries
that you bring with you around Christmastime?
A father should be jolly, a Santa with no worries,
yet happiness becomes something to pantomime.

I want the wonder of Christmas morning to last,
even though I am many years older and wiser.
My joy should be like your love - always steadfast,
now I cower, when I used to be the earliest riser.

I wish one final time for the magic to come back,
for one grand reappearance before the new year.
But the memories of joy you continue to hijack,
so I wrap myself the ever-giving curse of fear.

    A Christmas Toast

    Its counting down to Christmas
    the hours are too few
to buy the gifts we need
    for traditions we hold true

A time to say your thanks now
    and bring each other joy
Share the love at Christmas time
    with every girl and boy

A time for a glowing future
    with happiness and wealth
Spend time with all the one's you love
    wishing everyone good health

So Happy Christmas one and all
be kind over the coming year
Toast to a life that's generous
    and always full of cheer
