Strangers Answer.

Hi! It's been quiet lately so I thought we could talk about some non-related poetry stuff, though perhaps poetry is to be found in everything ;)

I don't know if anyone else has heard of or watches these videos on Youtube, but this woman (Thoraya Maronesy) talks with strangers in different parts of the world and asks them often emotional questions (ex: when was a time you felt most judged, most painful thing you've been told, the kindest thing, etc). The videos are usually close-ups of these people and it's quite refreshing and beautiful when these people have genuine reactions or share something boldly.

    ANYWAY,
anyone have any moments that touched you or meant a lot to you in an interaction with somebody new?

Just last weekend, I was walking out of our theater after working a concert. The show hadn't ended yet so no one was around and it was a cold night plus I was kind of in low spirits. This woman with a cart of her things and a pillow, not sure if she was taking it to the hotel next to the theater or what, smiled at me and asked about the show, saying how cool it was I worked there and how she would love to see more musicals. She was so happy and sweet, it kind of made me stop and just admire that moment for a minute.

    Care to share?

I love Thoraya's Youtube channel! I fell deep into her videos maybe 6-8 months ago and watched dozens of her videos. So glad to find a fellow admirer in you <3

I had sort of a special moment today with the stepmom of an 11-year-old kid who is having behavior problems and currently being held in juvenile detention. She is a nurse and seems to really care about her stepson. She's been such a wonderful advocate for him. We had about 20 minutes alone today and I told her that I think of nurses as superheroes and she said she thinks of social workers the same way. Kindred spirits. We had a really natural, feel-good chemistry as two almost strangers. I left our conversation feeling inspired and hopeful.

A stranger at work (she's a coworker but we barely even say hello) made me a cup of chamomile tea the other day, because I was asking if anyone had any Ibuprofen, and nobody did. I found it a very nice gesture, and it DID relieve my pain. I like it when women stick together and just are being nice to each other.

Also, once I was walking Baxter, when an old stranger asked if she could pet him. I said yes, and she started to hug and caress him and tell me how beautiful he is, Baxter liked her and started to lick her face, and laid on the ground so she could pet him more. It was so cute, and it made me smile. Whoever makes my puppy happy, makes me happy.

EDIT: Jane, I think social workers are superheroes as well.

    Yes, Jane! Kindred spirits, indeed.

That is so precious, Noura. I love how animals are more than just our companions, they can brighten someone just passing by, and that joy is not only our joy but a shared joy <3

It isnt a specific moment, but so many times we see a parent with their really young child very overwhelmed with the moment. Holding the door, returning something that fill from them or even just smiling at them. Most of the time, the look in their face and the thank you feels very genuine. :)

Thats all I can think of now :)
