In the Midst of Midnight by Hiraeth (10 points)
Window by Raina Moallem (10 points)
This had touched me in a very personal way. There are days when we just
don’t feel right, the way Rania described that feeling got me from the start. It
isn’t sadness, but it somehow is. The four ending lines wrapped the poem
together beautifully. It is almost the same feeling you get, when you get lost
in thoughts watching an open sea, a mountain or even the sky.
This also could go another way, with another perspective. We all are waking
up everyday to this huge pandemic, and the number of infected people
keeps increasing. Using “we” and those ending lines forgetting the eyes at the
window could point to that.

The New Way by Hellon (7 points)
I know whenever I am about to read any piece Hellon wrote I must’ve
prepared. This is so heartbreaking, the first time I read this I was sitting staring
at my screen. The personification and ending line, made it even more touching.

The New Way by Hellon (10 points)
Hellon's a master story-teller and this poem is testament to that, she
paints a very harrow image of the current covid-19 pandemic that
unfortunately rings true for so many households. Her use of personification
'I hear the empty pots quarreling,
as utensils become restless in the drawer
and the fridge shudders in its emptiness.'
is what really made this poem stand out this week. Everything about it is
so hard hitting.
------
In these uncertain times the hardships many are enduring are heartbreaking. Shortages of basic necessities are everywhere. Hellon writes as a child whose bedroom is off the kitchen, this child's room and morning time is normally a favorite place to be. They smell the cooking foods and it is all wrapped up in warmth and comfort. Her descriptives of pots quarreling, restless utinsels, and a fridge shuddering in its emptiness hits like a sledge hammer. This virus has touched every corner of the world and Hellon gives us a insightful poem to the damage it continues to do. (7)

napowrimo: in midst of midnight. (day one) by Hiraeth 10 points
I love the way this poem flows throughout. It's dreamy and loving. He has more hours to dream of this person, wrapped up in hues of beautiful visuals. His words show the love he has for this person, if they just saw how he sees them they wouldn't be so hard on themselves. That is such a true statement. We never see the beauty another sees in us.

One more poem inspired by a deadly virus by nourayasmine (4 points)
This poem maybe one more poem inspired by the virus, but it’s not only about it.
The metaphors transformed the poem from just being a poem about fear. Fear
itself is a virus. Everyone has a moment that they thought fear was winning the
fight. Reading that ending verse is that little reminder that simple things, such
as the good morning from a loved one is healing even if its momentary.

"To drink the sea,
spilled over
from your eyes was not an easy task."
Okay first of all, wow! Satish is a talented poet, and this forlorn poem
exemplifies that. It makes one think about the world through his unique
perspective.

Love's Only You by Mark (4 points)
A romantic piece that is just so impossibly sweet, it's sort of a departure from
the poems Mark normally writes but a welcomed one. The repetition really
works in this piece to reiterate that sweet love Mark is writing about.

Decending by Daniel 4 points
Daniel's poem this week gives the perspective of someone possibly with the virus. Or possibly Some one in their home who has tested positive. You clean, you sanitize, you stress. You tiptoe safely through shattered glass, hoping it doesn't get you too. This piece breaks me heart. My prayers go out to everyone out there who is dealing with this first hand.
