YOU CAN FINALLY VOTE on the love poems that were written for my last contest.
HERE ARE THE ENTRIES!
Entry number ONE:
"From the woods of a royal forest"
You approached me
gently, fingers on a harp,
rose lips bowed in
submission,
and I knew no symphony
could ever sound the
same without you.
You elevated my love -
the magic threaded between
the forest floor became
our sanctuary.
Though I would not always
be yours, you worshiped me
for that one night,
and from then on, I believed
in all things divine.
________
Entry number TWO:
"jaanu"
jaanu, at the limits of my language;
i find your name florally scented.
i hunger for you in ways i cannot express;
when the sun tenderly kisses you,
i wish to drink the honey from your eyes.
my heart buzzes to the melody of the
pitter-patter of your kolusu.
my love,
the henna spooled around your hands
become a roadmap to your collarbones;
the hammock in which i saw the
skies of my passion burn.
________
Entry number THREE:
"PHILLIP"
Personally I have a hard time not being cheesy about
him...He just brings it out
in me...Here's a man that
lights up my world just by being, well him...
Loves me to the moon and back...And
I, well wish we had met many years
previous so I had even longer to love him...
Its supposed to be an acrostic, that first line jumped down due to short space. By the way, his nickname is Phillycheese....
________
Entry number FOUR:
"Stéphanos (Greek for Stephen)"
My heart was lost to you
So many years ago
It's like I always knew
You would become my Beau
Strong and tall my giant
With golden smile that shines
Always so reliant
On true love and its signs
You are my life's reward
For all the good I've done
The knight with shining sword
My moon and stars and sun
For me you are the one
True lover, soul-mate friend
________
Entry number FIVE:
"Mozzarella (A Cheesy Love Poem)"
My heart melts
as if placed flat in a stone
oven -
despite
the temptation of others,
I will always choose
you.
Memories of
your body reminisce
on my tongue
I saw you flat, bred
upon a bed of leaves,
your milky flesh
on wilted greens,
pepper
cracked 'cross your
moistened flesh,
your body melts
as I break my fast.
_______
Entry number SIX:
Light
Poets weave beautifully
fitting words for their lovers,
and every time I try writing
of you my fingers tangle and
no poem can tailor you;
even if I knitted the moon
and stars, the sun and the
clouds or this entire universe,
nothing would fit you as
perfect as "You".
___________
I loved every single one of them. I'm sorry it took me two months to post them, and that it might take me another month to give the winner their comments.
Everyone can vote for two different entries. I'll be announcing the winner soooooon. I hope.
